Kia's stomach grumbled. The juvenile lioness had been wandering ever since morning and she hadn't even eaten a scrap of food.... and now it was nearly dusk. She frowned, her nose down pressed against the ground and her tail waving high in the air as she sniffed at the dirt like some sort of dog looking for a quick meal. She huffed in exasperation as she sat down "I'll never find something to eat!" she wailed in annoyance.
Brows furrowed, her green eyes scanned the area desperatly for something, anything that she could eat, but all that she could see in her gaze was grass..... lots and lots of it. She sighed, meandering over to a small patch of green strands of the plant and began sniffing at it with a grimace of unassurance on her face. It smelled vile, it couldn't be possible that that stuff could be edible

Kazi padded around the lands, his catch securely fastened between his powerful jaws. He had gone hunting shortly after his encounter with Palesa. He sighed and didn't notice the other lioness nearby as he dropped his meal, blood dripping from his upper teeth. "A peaceful, quiet place to eat," he said contentedly. "Not a soul in sight too. How convenient." He smirked and leaned down, his eyes set on the large chunk of meat on the ground.
Just before taking a bite, his nose twitches as he sniffs a scent of another. A lion. Though thankful for the gust of wind that brought the presence of another being nearby, he was rather upset that his meal had been interrupted. Kazi lifted his head and looked around, spotting a brown lioness not too far from him. "Who goes?" he asked, his voice gruff and a bit unwelcoming.

Holding her breath she flared her lips away from her teeth as she leaned in slowly to the grass. She squinted her eyes tightly shut, maybe if she didnt see it there.... all green and shiny and such... maybe it wouldn't taste so bad. She swallowed hard as she closed her teeth over the grass cautiously as if the taste alone could kill her and pulled her head back to rip the chunk off of the grass. She had barely gotten the grass torn off of the blade when the voice of another, larger creature startled her
"AHH!" she shrieked, the fur on the nape of her neck bristling as she turned towards the other in surprise, sending the grass flying out of her mouth in the process. It probably wouldn't tasted good anyways. "Goes where?" she said, a brow raised as she looked nervously at the lion before her "I'm Kia.." she offered, grinning sheepishly

The male cocked a brow at her question, though he was smirking when he saw the grass fly from her mouth. It was definitely a first for him to see any lion resorting to grass as a means for sustenance. "Kazi," he said simply before picking up his meat and jogging over to her, dropping the catch only a few feet away from the lioness. "Don't eat the grass. It isn't good for us lions I heard," was all he said before turning around and lying down in the shade of a large boulder. He nestled his cheek on his two paws and he yawned. The heat was getting to him.
Kazi yawned and opened his eyes to see if Kia had eaten what he placed before her. It wasn't like him to let his catch become the meal of another, but resorting to grass seemed a serious matter. Once couldn't hurt right? Besides, there's plenty of prey back in the pridelands, and if he got hungrier on his way back he could just catch another. "Eat," he called from where he lay.

She tilted her head when he dropped his meal in front of her half in confusion. Why would he want her to eat his food? It made no sense to her. She sat and pondered this for a while, but when he told her to eat she smiled and nodded, ripping off a large chunk of flesh from the meat of the catch and chewing it hastily, just in case he decided to change his mind.
"A pleasure to meet to Kazi" she said after her first mouthful "and thank you" she nodded. taking time between chews to glance over at the male. He seemed rather large for a lion..... and hairy. It seemed odd. Kia knew it wasn't right to stare and not polite in the least, but this lion was particularly funny looking. Then again, Kia had never seen a full grown male lion before. Not even her own father.

His eyes had been closed, but Kazi felt her eyes watching him, and it was a little uncomfortable. "Is there something you need?" he asked aloud, an eye peering back at her. She was young. Younger than he anyway. The gray lion yawned again and stood up, shaking his mane a little to get the grass out of it. "And as for the meal, you're welcome." He yawned again and walked over to her, stopping on the opposite side of the food. "Where are you from Kia?" he asked. He was curious as to why she was alone...and for that matter, why she didn't have any food.

She blinked. Where was she from? She wasn't really a part of any "pride" her and her mother and her brother all lived sort of between all the lands.... or she supposed that they did. That barely mattered anyways, she spent so little time there lately that it could hardly be called a home, not any more than this place, or any other for that matter, could be called a home.
"Where am I from?" she repeated his question to herself, running through responses in her mind. Not knowing a better answer she simply stated where she had been last, a lie. "I'm from the big pointy rock!" she grinned, taking another bite from the corpse. She was beginning to feel rather full so she nudged the remainer of it back towards Kazi with her paw. "So where do you come from Mr. Kazi?" she said, a small smile still curled across her features

Kazi grinned at her remark, cocking his brow again before leaning down at the leftovers and taking a small bite out of it. He chewed and swallowed quickly and thought about her response. "Big pointy rock?" he asked questioningly. 'Could she mean Pride Rock?' he thought to himself as he took another bite. After swallowing he looked at Kia and sighed. "You're from the Pridelands?" he asked.
Another bite, and he pondered his answer to her question. "I'm from there as well," he said finally, finishing the rest of the meat and licking his lips contentedly. It wasn't much, but it was enough for him anyway. He hadn't been that hungry. "And please, just call me Kazi."

The Pridelands? She had never heard them being called that before. She might as well agree though, perhaps that really was the name for the land of the big pointy rock. The Pridelands, it had a nice ring to it. "Why yes, of course! The Pridelands!" She said with a drawl in her voice and an innocent grin on her features. "Small world huh? It's nice to see a fellow pridelander out and about" a smug expression dripped on Kia's face, she was obviously proud of herself. Her little lie hadn't been uncovered yet, which planted some pride inside of Kia she never was a very good fibber.... until now she supposed
"Say," she added hastily, curiousity taking control of her better senses once again "Are most pridelanders rather..... fluffy such as yourself? Are you a god?" she tilted her head and blinked, half expecting him to sprout wings and start bossing her around like the last 'pridelander' she met. At least a big fluffy lion was better than a small evil/winged one.

Kazi looked at her and sighed. "No, I'm not a God. How could I be? I'm a Pridelander. We have no Gods. Don't you know that?" he retorted. He looked at her and shook his head. She was probably a rogue... "You don't have to lie to me you know," he said with a slight frown. "You aren't a pridelander, are you?" Kazi took a seat and awaited her resonse, a disapproving look on his face, despite the fact that he wasn't her father and that they had just met.

Well he wasn't a god and that left a huge mark of relief, and if he said there were no gods in the Pridelands then that was even better news. However, because of her silly questions Kia was discovered. She looked at her small feet with dissapointment, a slight frown appearing slowly on her face as she shook her head in dismay "No... I'm not a pridelander" she avoided eye contact with Kazi at that point. Although she felt no remorse for lying, it was rather dissapointing to Kia that she was discovered for doing so

Kazi sighed again and shook his head. "Just don't do it again," he said quietly to her. "Anyway, so are you staying anywhere? Maybe you could join us," the male offered, his voice a bit friendlier than it had been initially. "The pride I mean. There's plenty of room, and it's a great place to live." Then he paused, wondering if she had something to do, much like Tuzwa's situation. "Unless you have some task or something to complete." It was just for confirmation, but someone as young as she wouldn't usually have a task of too great a significance. There were exceptions yes, but for the most part perhaps she just needed a place to live. After all, a lion starting to eat grass is never a good sign.

"okay I promise" she nodded vigorously "I won't fib to you ever again unless it'll keep me from getting in trouble" she grinned. Her ears swivled back, however, with his next statement and the grin slowly faded from her face. Join the pridelands? She couldn't.... it wouldn't be fair to her mother.... or herself.
"I'm sorry Kazi," she said regretfully "I really can't" her gaze floated towards the horizon which was changing colors, seeming to welcome the night. "The pridelands are beautiful, but I don't think that even the pridelands' beauty would make me want to stay there... nothing could.... do you understand?" She looked back towards Kazi, her brows furrowed.
Kia was a rogue by blood and by spirit. Through and through

He smiled gently at the lioness and nodded, understanding her rather well even though he thought it not best for anyone to live the life of a rogue. "I suppose not all would agree to a settled life. I had once been a rogue, though born a pridelander. My story is a typical one, but I want to live my elderly life in peace somewhere, and my former home seemed to make the most sense." Kazi looked on to the same horizon Kia was gazing at and smiled, remembering the many days he'd spent meandering the African lands. "One day though, I believe most rogues would like to stop moving about so much. I don't know if you think as I do, but if it were me, I wouldn't raise children as a rogue. It's much too risky for my taste, wouldn't you say?"

Kia nodded camly, it may well be a smart move to stay somewhere safe in one's older ages. Kia even could see this, but she had no desire to stay anywhere now while she still had youth on her side. She could see both sides of this matter though, and she respected his side as much as her own.
"Rogues stop moving?" she pondered on this for a moment, it seemed impossible that all rogues would want to stop moving about... even if for good reason. When he spoke of raising children as a rogue she smiled and thought of her mother. Even Kia couldnt tell if she moved about often, all she knew is that when the sun went down somehow she was able to find her. Her father however, was an entirely different story, but even with his absense from all of her memories, she still thought kindly of him. "Yes I suppose.... it is a bit risky" she agreed with him, but on shaky ground. She had never really given thought to the idea of cubs herself. True, she was nearing the age when she would brood cubs of her own, but in her mind it was like a disease that happened only to other people..... not to her. Love, after all, had never been a problem in her young life.
