++I agree that the psp has it flaws and I love nintendo, but sony does make some good stuff. I have had a cd walkman from them for about 8 years now and it still works as good as new...So in some aspects they're good, but in the rest they're meh...++

Destruction_King Does anyone here actually know someone who got a PSP? I don't. In real life? Man, my school is filled with Sony freaks... I know two people who have a PSP (one of them is a rabid Sony fanboy, and not very smart, either wink ). I think I might get one if the price drops. Of course, my PS2 will come first 3nodding If I ever get one. Oh, and to the creator of this thread, by any chance, did you get this from the Dual Screens guild?

Jeez, why are all of you so against the PSP? It IS a good system, after all.
And yes, I know a few people who have PSP's. Most of my school is Xbox fanboys though.

The only thing good about the PSP is the sports games. If you are a large sports game fan, then you should buy it. A lot of people at school have a PSP/are thinking of getting one, but they had no idea about what movies would be released or what games are coming out. One of them almost threw it against the wall when I showed him the only have 1 really good RPG scheduled for release at all so far (and that game is TBA for now, probably in 2006).
I don't see how people can like an X-box. It has its good points (games that they stole from other consoles like Dreamcast, Multi-platforms, and Halo) but that's it. If a company only releases a good game about once a year, then that company is crap. They plan on releasing X-box 2 a year earlier than PS3/Nintendo Revolution, but I hope they die just like Dreamcast did (though I was actually sad that Dreamcast died).

What about the PSP's great graphics? What about it's ability to upload music and movies (via memory stick)? What about the great lineup of games (Well, to come, the lineup wasn't that good)? What about it's great look? I could go on and on. Also, I love the Xbox. Why? It has awesome graphics, a great online system (perfect way to get endless gameplay out of games, compared to games on other platforms, which don't have as much online), great games (Halo, Ninja Gaiden), they always get the best version of multiplatform games, the controller is easy to use, built in harddrive, etc etc etc Stop being so ignorant towards other systems other then Nintendo's. I MAY be a Nintendo Defender, but that doesn't mean I can't defend other systems too.

Wow.... Just, wow. I've know about Play stations issues for a while. Hell, I've been hit by them, but damn.
Anyway, this is about PSP, so here is my rant, I'll try to keep it short, and I'll be as fair as I can. PSP suxors!!111! (Sorry, I'm an a*****e sometimes).
Okay, I have DS, I've had many Gameboy systems, and I cherished them all. Nintendo has always kicked a** in many ways, and even though many deny it, Nintendo still does. The DS does have some shortcomings, but nothing that hasn't stopped me from going hours on end with a certain fat plumber and bounty hunter, and I will list some:
- It can't play games for systems older than the GBA. Bummer, yes, but no biggie, I have a GBA, which I'll keep, and I'm such a consumer whore I bought the GBA player for my GC. - The only other system issue I have with the DS is that it does tend to get uncomfortable on my hands after playing for a while. Again, not a big deal. - If I had to say one thing though, I was so looking forward to Goldeneye on the DS, but now I find out it's Rouge Agent. $&*#. Well, the multiplayer sounds damn good, and that's what bond is about, to me.
PSP on the other hand, seems to have some serious issues. Now, I haven't gotten to test drive the little b*****d myself, but I'm sure as hell not buying one until I do. Let's role out the issue list, shall we:
- Battery life: Okay WTF. When I game, I ******** GAME. I don't ******** play for 5 minutes and break. I don't know about other people, but I like my games long, capable, and addicting. (No, that isn't a pun for dicks). Four hours isn’t that long. Its good, but not all that great. Now I hear stuff about two hours to ninety minutes? No way man. That's just not cool.
- "Bad- a**" design: Yes, I've seen it, and it looks like it's very sleek. So does my toilet, but it isn't. I don't like Sony when it comes to durability. I never have. If Playstation games were all for other systems, I wouldn't have a Playstation. EVER. Why should I think the PSP will be different from Sony's other stuff? I don't, and I worry. Their current home consoles break more easily then any other too.
- MP3/Movies: This is just dumb. I heard about the MP3 deal ages ago, and wasn't impressed. Now, I only have a 128 megabyte MP3 player, but I don't save game data on it. I'm not rich, nor am I planning to be, and I can't afford to keep shelling out cash for memory. (Not to mention I don't like the idea of memory sticks on a portable device, but that's another issue completely). As for movies, that’s just stupid. Why in hell would I buy a movie that I can only watch on a tiny screen? I watch movies with friends, or on a nice big tv, in my comfy chair, not on a little screen, on a bus. Not to mention, I want to watch FF7: AC with my FF7 lovin buddies.
Anyway, I wont b***h about this anymore, I've dragged it on long enough. The point I want to make is the one that’s already been made. The PSP doesn’t have my trust and faith, and until I have a good reason to get it, I don't want it. If many people think like me, Sony is screwed. Nintendo has my trust as a gamer, and a lover of fun things, so I'll stick with it.

I read this a long time ago, around the time it was written. It was really informative and nice, I wish more people would read it. Even though it's a bit out of date (written before PSP was even launched here) most if it's still true.
I just wish people would pay more attention before buying into the hype. There's only 2 people in my ENTIRE school that have PSPs. Only one of them brings his to school.
When I watch him play it, he's sitting at a table, and every 3 minutes or so he sets it down and talks to someone.
I thought this was strange, so I came to check it out.
Turns out every 3 minutes he had to set it down for about a minute so it could load the next part of the level.
Why does that not sound like a good thing to me? I could start up, play several rounds of wario ware, in the time it'd take him to load a game up and get the game started.
Anyway, its a really shoddy system. Both of those kids have Dead Pixals, like 5 each, and sony refuses to replace them.
Where as my ONE friend (out of nearly 30 kids at our school with DS) had 3 dead pixals in his DS, Nintendo's replacing it free of charge.
It just shows the quality.

Well, don't forget that we can't hate PSP too much. It's a great system, and has almost as much potential as the DS does. (Except not nearly as innovative.)
