It was early morning; as the sun was rising over the savannah, a clay brown wild dog walked. She seemed to be walking with some sort of purpose, though in reality Chenza didn't know where she was going. She just wanted to explore at a time in which fewer threatening creatures would be about. Still, the large amount of grass without any variation whatsoever was beginning to bore her.

Chuakari has been awake for awhile now, and after grooming herself carefully she decided to take a look around in hopes of seeing someone out and about. That is, of course, why she groomed herself in the first place! Must look nice when you meet people. Her fur is not as well groomed as it could be, though.
She walks in such a direction that she cannot see the wild dog that is walking about nearby, and she doesn't pay enough attention to hear or smell it either. The juvenile has been lucky so far, and hasn't found reasons to be so careful, even though Uri had warned her about some other creatures. With her bright pink pelt, she stands out clearly in the grass, despite the low sun.

After scanning the horizon, Chenza blinked a few times. There was something bright pink nearby. She didn't think she was going crazy, because weren't you supposed to see pink elephants if that were the case? The pink thing, upon closer inspection, looked like a cheetah. But maybe it really was a pink elephant, and her craziness had made it look like a cheetah! Well, there was one way to figure things out. "Hello, there!" she called. "Are you an elephant?"

Kari comes to a sudden halt when she hears a greeting yelled out to her. She immediately straightens her posture, and turns to see who's spoken, smiling brightly. Someone is around, and they've said something first. It's so much easier when they talk first, then you don't have to worry about if they want to talk or not, or if you'll scare them.
Her eyes widen a bit when she sees the wild dog, for it's a creature she's never really seen before. Then it suddenly asks if she's an elephant, and her ears tilt back.
An elephant? What a funny question!
She walks eagerly over to the creature, looking thoughtful. She's pretty sure she's NOT an elephant, is that what this thing is? Would she be happier if she says she's an elephant?
"Um, should I be an elephant?" she asks, tilting her head.

"Nah, I don't want you to be an elephant," the wild dog said as she walked around the cheetah, squinting to be sure that it was, in fact, a cheetah. "They say that if you see pink elephants, you're crazy, and I don't wanna be crazy! You look like a pink cheetah to me," she said, nodding with conviction. "My name is Chenza. How did you get so pink?"

"Ok," Kari agrees immediately, watching the wild dog circle her, entirely at ease with the action. She stands as tall as she can, trying to make the best impression possible while be circled.
Pink elephants mean you're crazy.. so she shouldn't be a pink elephant. And it's good she isn't, because this thing doesn't want her to be a pink elephant.
"I am! You're so smart," the cheetah says cheerily when Chenza speaks, starting at once with her attempts at complimenting the dog, "My name is Chuakari, it's really nice to meet you Chenza! I don't know how I'm so pink, I've always been this way."

"I'm smart? Really? Thank you, Chuakari!" Chenza exclaimed as she bounded around in a hyper fit. "It's too bad you don't know how you got pink, because it's so cool I've always been this clay brown color; I suppose I should be glad scary things don't notice me as quickly, but pink is pretty, like sunsets!"
After she calmed down enough to stay still in one spot, she asked, "Well, since you've always been this way, have you seen anything interesting out this way?"

Chuakari beams proudly when Chenza responds well to the compliment, pleased to have gotten so far with so few words. This creature is sure to be a good friend!
"I don't remember being any other colors," she comments, looking over Chenza's fur, being careful to smile the whole time, "You're a really pretty color of brown! I bet you're real good at hide and seek. Sunset is the best time for me to try to hide, because sometimes the sky turns pink." She nods, ignoring the 'scary things' comment, "But you know that, 'cause you said that already."
It was a comment to show that she was listening to her.
"You're the most interesting thing I've seen around here, Chenza!" Kari coos, "You're so big, and brown and pretty and you don't look like anything I've seen before." She makes sure to keep her voice happy so as not to make it sound like any of this is a bad thing, it would be so terrible to make Chenza upset! She ends up looking a bit worried, but hides it well with a smile.

Chenza grinned. "I am pretty good at hide and seek, though not many want to play with me at my age. But it really helps when I have to get food for myself," she said. "You must be best at hunting when it's sunset, then."
At the compliment, her eyes widened in surprise. "I've never been called pretty, before. Thank you! And I'm glad I don't look like something you've seen before; it's good to know there's only one Chenza running around." The cheetah had no reason to be worried, for Chenza was in a good mood now.

"At your age?" Kari blinks, looking surprised, "You can't play hide and seek when you're your age? How old are you? You don't look too old for games.."
She nods enthusiastically at the hunting comment, "Yep! It's hard to hide from stuff otherwise, but I'm not really good at hunting anyway. I bet you are though, you're so big~"
Her ears perk back up when Chenza doesn't take her comments badly, and she smiles. It's good Chenza is happy there's only one Chenza running around!
"What is Chenza, though?" she asks, tilting her head. She doesn't look like a lion or cheetah, and those are the only things she's really seen other than food.

Chenza smiled. "I'm an adult for my species, so the others who want to play hide and seek think I'm too old for their games. But that doesn't mean I have to act my age."
"As for hunting, you'll get better when you grow, I bet. Before you know it, you'll be as tall as I am. And I am a wild dog," she said. "A wandering wild dog, though I have recently decided to keep returning to a wild dog pack that is one family and me."

"An adult?" she repeats, looking at her own paws curiously, "How old do you think I am? I'm not too old am I?" Her tone is worried, despite the point that no one needs to act their age she would not want to act odd around other people- what kind of impression would that give them! It doesn't even cross her mind that Chenza herself is saying she doesn't need to act her age, and that she's enjoying her company just fine.
"Will I get as good as you?" Kari asks, still going with her assumption that this creature is the best of hunters, "A wild dog? I've only seen a funny thing with a puff at the end of her tail, and another cheetah. I was told lots of cheetahs are around here, too. I haven't seen any of them, though."

"Of course you're not too old!" Chenza said, her expression one of mortification at the very concept. "No one can be too old unless they want to be. And who would want to be?" She spun in circles trying to catch her own tail, as if to illustrate this point. "I just assumed you're not an adult cheetah yet because you said you weren't good at hunting yet, and you're not as big as the other cheetahs I've seen on my travels." She frowned and looked around the area. "I haven't seen any other cheetahs here, though. I'd be happy to meet them, I just haven't seen them yet. As for hunting, as long as you keep trying and giving it practice, you'll become a great hunter."

"Oh, good!" Kari sounds genuninely relieved when Chenza assures her that she is not too old, and that you can't be unless you choose to be. That means she can be too old sometimes but not always! Her eyes widen when Chenza chases her tail, and then she looks to her own tail. With a second glance back to Chenza spinning, she makes an attempt at mimicing the dog and chasing her own tail as well- the effort is wasted, for when she attempts to leap to her tail her back end goes with her, removing the tail from her view.
"No, I don't think I'm an adult cheetah either," Kari nods agreeing, though she'd have agreed with whatever Chenza said, "Does adult mean big and good at hunting?"
She walks in a circle to look around as well, looking back to her new friend, "There are more cheetahs here, honest! I just haven't seen any of them." The little one pauses, looking carefully at the wild dog for a moment when she says practice will help with hunting.
"How did you get to be so good at hunting? Did you just do it on your own?" She asks, sitting down and waiting for an answer with an intent look on her little face.
(( I just want to apologize for disappearing yesterday x.x; And I may not be really quick about wrapping this up either, it depends on how dedicated I get to studying for my exams ^^ ))

((No worries. I have schoolwork to work on this week as well. ^_^))
"Yeah," Chenza said. "My mom said that an adult was when you were so big you couldn't get any bigger, and then the adult would be good at hunting and everything," the wild dog explained as she sat down, flattening the grass around her. "I don't know what she meant by the everything, though. Maybe I'll understand when I want to."
"I'm sure there are more cheetahs here," she said. "I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone else around here yet. This really is a nice place."
At the hunting question, she paused in thought. "At first I had my mom to help me learn, but then I got separated from her, so I learned the rest on my own. It's not as difficult when you've tried it so many times."
