Have people used the fact that you're completely absorbed in a book to their advantage? I hate having my picture taken, so one time while I was completely sucked into a book my friend sketched an entire potrait of me. He says I was the only thing that stayed still enough. sweatdrop Also answering parental summons has become an issue.......

Another way: Dad will often give me important documents to use as a bookmark because I never go anywhere without my book. He has to be careful though cause I finish them so fast

No one's ever done anything like that to me, but I do use the fact that books put me in my own little world to my advantage.

I don't know of anyone using my reading time to their advantage. Sorry.

i once spent an entire day at school reading this really good book that had sucked me in. my teachers didn't care at all - they were happy i was quiet other than that i dont have any problems - except for people talking to me while i read, they actually think i am listening

I think the primary reason I read books is to get away. It's timeless excape, and sparks new emotions and concepts that cannot be learned any way else. The best of all, is that some books do not have a strict setting, and often when more is left to the reader I enjoy it more...
So, when I read a book, I read slowly. I want to get every word and detail down flat. I cannot vaguely understand one sentance, I need to thread everything. It's gonna be my downfall in some aspects. gonk

Well, since I read so much, people always ask me to help them with their work. Apparently people who read a lot must be geniuses. xD And beleive me, I'm not.
But I guess nothing really good comes out of being absorbed in a book so much, except that i get to escape real life for a while. ^^

Not really. With our senior video I was in the choir room reading and most of the shot of me in the video is me reading and they cut away only when I just look up. rolleyes I can read pretty much anywhere, wither its noisy or quite, sitting or standing. It was a little bad for me to be reading in class because then I wouldn't hear what the teacher said. sweatdrop Even though I do read a book fast I still get everything out of it.

No, not really. But in year 6 we had to get our picture taken for our portfolio doing something we enjoyed doing at school. I chose to get pictured taken while reading a book.

Whenever I read I stop for nobody unless physical force is involved.

One time my friend poured water over my head because she'd been trying to get my attention while I was reading. I freaked because she almost got my book wet. xp
But that was years ago. I can't seem to get lost in my reading anymore... it's kinda made me feel lonely.

I am in my own world while I read, if there are not other things on my mind. It annoys my friends, I don't like to be talked to while reading, I get a bad attitude. Sometimes I feel like I am right there watching the things in the book happen, I like that.

Yeah, I am out of it while reading, its really bad in the car. Every time we go on a car trip or something, I start to read and my mom will have to snatch the book away from me to talk to me

Dr.Speth Yeah, I am out of it while reading, its really bad in the car. Every time we go on a car trip or something, I start to read and my mom will have to snatch the book away from me to talk to me My mom specifically waits for me to do something to talk to me. Half an hour can pass and a minute after I start reading she wants to talk. I don't mind talking with my mom but why does she have to wait till I'm busy?
