It was rather early in the morning as Doe woke up, yawning slightly. After a quick bathe and a fresh change of clothes, the teenager exited her duplex and walked down to the beach, her journal in hand.
The sea breeze greeted her, ruffling her long fringe and her braid lightly, carressing her cheek. Doe sat down on a rock and turned to a new page of her journal, wanting to write about the shot the doctor had just given her yesterday and the island lest she forgot.

Oz came to a slow jog as he reached the beach. Gently sliding his headphones to rest around his neck, he sat down with a large sigh on the soft sand, tilting his head back and rolling his shoulders to loosen up. He took a quick swig from his bottle of water and wiped his mouth of excess.
The young teenager had gone almost un-noticed by the bulky rugby player. He heaved himself up, groaning a little with muscle ache. He'd been on the Island for a few weeks now, and had met some of the stranger inhabitants.
"Hi there," he walked over to Doe, keeping a respectfucl distance so as not to startle the youngster nor offend her with his sweaty smell.

Doe had filled almost half the page with her scribblings and almost jumped when she heard a voice behind her. Her hand on reflex slammed the book shut and sat up straight, looking at the man who had just spoken.
"Hi," Doe smiled lightly, leaning back slightly, "So...um..." she searched for a conversation opener, her brain still a little fuzzy from the early wake up. "I'm Doe," she introduced, "Doh-e."

Jemma had decided it would be nice to walk along the beach and or maybe just sit and watch the waves hit the shore. Not like she would be able to swim in that rough water like she was able to back home. She found her hairband and using it she put her hair back up in it's unmistakable ponytail, it seemed she was always wearing her hair up like this.
When she finally reached the beach she kicked off her shoes and let the sand run through her toes, it felt good to feel this again. She hadn't been on a beach since she had come to this island. She picked her shoes up and walked down the beach rolling her jeans up, before she started.
It wasn't long before she saw the younger teen, and another victim of the Doctor, she had also noticed Oz was over there too. He looked like he had been working out before he stopped in his tracks. She had wanted to be alone today, but it had been awhile since she had seen anyone else. She had been keeping to herself since she'd been here, she sighed and decided go and try and talk to them. Walking over to the two Jemma spoke up as she cleared her throat and quietly said, "Umm....hello...."

"Pleasure to meet you Doe. I'm Oz," he said plesantly, offering his right hand to shake.
He was certainly cooling down now, stood near the sea and enjoying the breeze it brought in at this time of the morning. The little journal Doe had been so eager to close peaked Oz's interest, but only because it reminded him of the times he'd tried to sneek a peak into his younger sister's journal.
"What you writing?"
He was curious. His sister had great potential to be a writer. Then Jemma came into sight. He nodded politely and waved a huge hand and chunky arm.

The teenager nodded, grasping his hand lightly, "Hi Oz. You're the first person I've met here."
Doe undid the pale ribbon at the end of her braid and began re-braiding her long chestnut locks. The sea breeze blew at the ribbon on her lap, as if trying to pull it away and play with it.
At Oz's question, she winced slightly, "That? Um...well, it's just my journal. In case I suddenly forget stuff." she said the second sentence in a rush, she was a little embarassed at her hereditary memory loss thing, that was why some of her classmates teased her with that "Dory" nickname.
As Oz waved to someone behind her, Doe turned with curiosity and the ribbon flew out of her lap as she spotted the blond.

Jemma looked up at Oz when she got close enough, he looked slightly taller then her. She had always been shy and looking up at him was causing a slight blush to appear on her cheeks. She quickly looked down to look at Doe and smiled and nodded at them both.
She then finally decided it would be best to introduce herself and try to say more then that besides, "I'm Jemma Diamond, it's good to meet you....." She then looked to Oz the blush still there, "So umm....whats up?"

He had to be careful with his grip on the petite teenager's hand. A hearty, manly handshake could really hurt a girls hand. He did his best to lightly return the shake.
"I'm sure you'll fit in soon enough. Most of the people are generally nice," he smiled at the teenager. "I don't think you're the only teenager here either. You don't wanna be stuck with an old fart like me."
Oz chuckled, taking another swig of his water bottle. He made an instinctive grab for the ribbon as it flew from Doe's light grasp and just caught it by his little finger.
"There you go..."
He turned to Jemma. Another teenager.
"Pleasure to meet you Jemma. Not seen you much on the Isle. I'm Oz."

"Hello Jemma, I'm Doh-e," Doe smiled at the seemingly shy blond, withdrawing her hand from Oz's after the handshake.
"Old fart?" Doe's forehead creased slightly, "You don't look so wrinkly to me," she joked. "I sure hope there are others of my age, though it isn't that bad to make new friends."
"Thank you," her dark eyes twinkled as she finished her braid and took it from Oz.

Smiling abit more, this wasn't too hard Jemma was thinking to herself, and then Oz mentioned about not seeing her around. She looked over at him again, "I kinda keep to myself pretty much...this is the first time I've been out of my duplex since getting here....."
She sat down close to Doe, getting off her sandy bare feet she wiggled her toes to get some of the sand out of them. She had been looking at him during this time, "I think I've been here almost as long as you, because I had seen you walking through or running through the streets from my window."
She then turned to Doe, "I haven't seen you till today though so I'm guessing your pretty new..." all of this had been said in a quiet shy voice but at least she was talking to them.

"Nah I'm not too wrinkly. At least not yet," he said, his last words disappearing into his water bottle as he took another swig.
He had to be careful with his knowledge. If neither of them had yet explored this Island fully, they didn't know what was in store.
Oz did though. The morning runs were all he really had to keep him sane, to remind him of the normality he would eventually lose. He knew he should have been so much more depressed or anxious. But it just hadn't hit him yet.
"Yeah, I go for a run every morning and every night. Part of my detox," he said, that same cheerful smile unable to leave his face, and patted his slightly rotund belly.

"Yup, I've just got here," Doe tied the ribbon at the end of her braid, answering Jemma's question.
Doe stared curiously at Oz, "But you look like you're twenty plus...you can't be turning old that fast." Frowning slightly, she spoke, "So...when does school start?" She had left the orphanage with interest that she would be studying at an international school due to her good grades.

Jemma looked up at Oz as she brushed the small strand of bangs away from her eyebrow ring, her green piercing eyes watching him. "You definately are not old, seem like you might be in your mid 20s if I had to guess, and that's from a 19 year old saying that."
She glanced over at Doe when she mentioned school, "What do you mean school? I don't remember ever seeing a school in the town....that might be how they tricked you to the island. I asnwered this add in the newspaper about zoology students needed to help study native animals, I was brought here and no such thing has happened, the only thing I got was poked with a needle and then left in the town."

Oz went suddenly sober and quiet, that cheerful smile dropping from his face faster than a bear drops a bee-hive. The compliments had been taken in, but he couldn't bring himself to respond to them yet.
So, Jemma knew that the Island wasn't all it was made out to be. But what else did she know?
Oz took a swig of his water to just avoid speaking for a moment, trying to think about what to do. It wasn't really his place to inform young Doe of her fate, but maybe he was better than having one of the rotten lab staff tell her. Or worse, if she found out herself.
The bulky man shot Jemma a pleading glance, as if asking not to say anymore on the subject just yet...

Jemma was about to say more when she caught the look that Oz was giving her, she closed her mouth and nodded to him in understanding. She knew that look and she figured he didn't want her to say anything else.
She sighed and pulled her knees up against herself, she hated this place so much, and wished she could see her parents again, even with all the fighting. She then layed back in the sand, and closed her eyes when the sun hits them. She figured Oz wanted to tell the young girl the truth about the island, he might word it better then she would have anyways.
