Is she really getting killed off? Is this a reliable source? Nur! I'd always been hoping for an awesome reunion scene between her, the Doc, and Jack in 3. But... she's gonna die!? Although I can't blame Piper for leaving, acting isn't exactly easy. But STILL.
"It has been an amazing adventure, and I can confirm it comes to an end, for now at least, as series two climaxes."
Maybe she'll come back? I've seen a lot of TV where main characters can come back from the dead. :cough biggrin anielJackson:cough:
(By the way, I found the links on the SciFi.com bored.)
No matter what happens, Doomsday is going to be a very big episode.

When I just saw the Satan's Pit, I wondered if that was really going to happen. Now I know. I went onto the SciFi board, and basically the first thread I saw was some thing like "Spoiler: Rose dies!" What the HELL is the point of a warning if the spoiler is the freaking TOPIC! I think I would have rather not known this spoiler, but too late. *SIGH*

Yeah, the poster got a good scolding for that one, although he says at the time he originally posted that it was just rumor, not news. He still should've left it as a big "SPOILER!!!" because that would guarantee lots of hits! biggrin

Well, it's an official BBC press release, so it must be true. I find it all so confusing, though. I mean, up to this point we've been hearing that she'd be back next season, though possibly not for all 13 episodes. Now it sounds like she's out for good.
Based on the information in the article, I'm guessing she originally planned to come back, but then there was a scheduling conflict. Doctor Who is currently in pre-production and is set to begin filming again, but so is the adaptation for "The Shadow in the North", where Piper plays the main character. So it looks like she had to choose, and she ended up going with the latter.
The other spoiler for series 3 is that the Doctor will meet Shakespeare. So first we had Dickens, then Madam Pompadour. Looks like they're giving us one historical figure per year...

I heard that Rose might come back as an alternate version of her self from an alternate reality. That would be confusing... to say the least. I really wish she was staying as a main character, but atleast this will FINALLY shut up all the damn Doc/Rose shippers. You can't have a ship if she's dead.

Sure, you can...you do a "What if Rose didn't leave/die/whatever" story! biggrin I've seen all kinds of "what ifs" for the old "Beauty & the Beast" TV show!
There's at least FOUR threads for this now at Sci Fi, braying the spoiler on their headings. BAD trend starting! mad They've been pretty considerate til now. I guess they're all just a tad excited & forgetting their manners.

Yeah, sadly, the shippers can still write fanfics... but I can hope, can't I?
I've had so many shows and books spoiled for me it's not funny. That's why I try not to EVER spoil things for other people. Well... except Tasari. I know her in real life and it's always funny to be just about to let something slip about FMA and her freak out over it... xd

I didn't mind Rose, but I was never really enamored with the whole romantic subplot between her and the Doctor. However, judging from the comments made by others, it does appeal to some of the show's fanbase. I suppose it's still possible for them to keep the Rose character going by somehow granting her the ability to regenerate. I wouldn't mind too much, except if they decide to have the Doctor sacrifice one of his own regenerations to do it. If that happens... I'm going to have to smack the person responsible with a big wet fish!

Rose dead... Hmm... Well I think it is good to have a change... I'm only worried that her replacement will be REALLY dislikeable! Rose trod a pretty thin line for me on the likeable front but on the whole I really did like her as a companion. But if they replace her...
I bet it will be a girl too. Even though I want a robot alien male. Possibly in some sort of medievil jester's costume. whee
Don't ask me why.
Please let the replacement be good. And please let it not be Jackie.
On the spoiler front my mum came into the room about an hour ago and said in a loud voice "Hey Ruth do you know they're killing off Rose in Doctor Who?"
So y'know... Not much chance of a surprise there...

I hope they give us at least one episode of the Doctor without any companion. All they do is scream, twist their ankles, and get captured anyway!

And she DID have the entire Time Vortex in her. Who knows what it could have done to her body? Because right now it seems that if she died, the Doctor would be heart broken, ship or not. And I don't think anyone wants to see a depressing Doctor. The show would simply go downhill.

Hairy Priest I hope they give us at least one episode of the Doctor without any companion. All they do is scream, twist their ankles, and get captured anyway! But who would ask the "What is it, Doctor?" & "Where are we, Doctor?" questions? We'd all be so horribly confused without that! biggrin
