The area began to become less and less grassy as green scenery gave way to rocks and ledges. Melanion Silvio brushed his hand along the stone surface of the wall as he limped along, breathlessly pushing himself along. Patches of faint blood were smeared from his maroon hand as he moved, blood streaming down his face and over a swollen eye as he feld his side with his other hand. What luck being caught in a fight like that... that was all he needed. He sighed, closing his one functional eye briefly before feeling his knees go weak as he relaxed. He caught himself before he fell, heart jumping as he almost lost his balance. This was going to be a long journey...

Jiki walked alongside a newcomer to their apartment complex, a bunny by the name of Motega. He was interested in this guy not only because he enjoyed the outdoors as much -- or more -- as Jiki did, but also because he was the species he was. Ever since his last outing he had found himself thinking of if and when he would ever be able to see Marlon again, a friend he was infatuated with. He didn't completely understand it yet, but he did care deeply for the lavender bunny.

As the grass gave way to canyon space, Jiki became more and more nervous about the area. He was used to trees, bushes, city buildings... not rocks! He was, however, in awe at the painted stone around them, but he shrank back from it. "Where are we, Motega? I've never been here before," he asked, turning to the bunny.

Motega turned his eyes to the beta fox but kept his head stiff and facing straight ahead. "There are some interesting things out here. I like to check this place out and see what all I can find out here, as I have been able to find many new areas as I have explored more. There's no reason to be nervous," he stated flatly with little emotion. His last sentence made Jiki tense up briefly, but Motega just stared ahead, unaware that they had company.

Riley was just coming back from another of his raver parties. He was still bopping along to music in his head. Humming away and moving his head from side to side. The semiuke fox almost missed the bloody figure of another Anthro.

When his light colored eyes saw the poor coon, he gasped. "Oh my god!" Riley exclaimed, kneeling before him. "Hey... Hey are you alright, man?" he asked, even though it was obvious that he WASN'T okay.

Kerwin was sitting outside under a tree with a flashlight. He couldn't take anymore of the others on his floor in the apartment! They were so noisy... Even though Riley wasn't about, it was still too noisy for his liking. Not that he LIKED being alone outside when it was dark... But his longing to finish his book outweighed the risks of something bad happening to him.

Marlon was up in his room, staring blankly out his window. How long had it been since he had last seen Jiki? It seemed like forever!

Sighing, he rolled onto his back on his bed. Maybe it was time for a walk... Yes, a walk. Plus, hadn't Kerwin left? It wasn't good for the unicorn to be out by himself...

Melanion Silvio stumbled a little before trying to catch himself again as he fell. He didn't realize there was anyone else about, falling to his knees and coughing. As his vision focused again he saw Riley in front of him, but was too weak to really flinch in surprise. Silvio pulled some stray silver bangs from his eyes and held back another cough, clearing his throat to answer, "I'm fine, i'm fine. I-It's really no big deal." He was too busy to be resting! Why couldn't he get up?

As they strode along, Jiki glanced behind himself to see just how far they had travelled. He couldn't see the road they had followed before anymore, and it made him nervous that they may get lost without anything to follow back to the road. Just as he was about to speak up to Motega about his worrying, he spotted a light obstructed by some rocks none too far off. "Motega..." he said, getting the attention of the bunny while pointing off to the light.

Motega flinched his head over, but his ears lowered at the possible danger this may be indicating. "Jiki, I don't think..." he started, but was stopped when Jiki began heading over towards the light regardless. His eyes grew, surprised that Jiki was being so bold in the dim light of the moon. He sighed and followed the silhouette of the beta, seeing that his worries weren't well-founded as they saw Kerwin.

Riley cringed at each cough. This guy had been beaten up pretty bad! When the coon argued he was fine, Riley sighed and shook his head. "Well that's where you're wrong, man. Come on, let me at least help ya to your home." he said, offering a hand. Riley could never leave someone like him all alone! He was too good of an anthro to do that.

The unicorn was oblivious that anyone was around. He didn't even hear Jiki and Motega's voices. Kerwin was too caught up in his story to take notice of anything. It was a really good part! And he was only in the first few chapters. Already, Winny could tell that it was going to be a good story...

Marlon bounced out of bed and grabbed his room keys. He left the apartment and went outside. Taking a deep breath of fresh air, the lavender bunny just started to walk. Now where would the unicorn go to read... Certainly not where there was a lot of people.

Sure Winny liked being around others, but not when he was reading. Maybe... Oh! The park! Marlon thought. Rolling his eyes at how stupid he was, the bunny headed over to the park. It wasn't that far off, thankfully.

"No! No... I can't!" Silvio said suddenly, trying his best not to fall down the rest of the way. "I-I'm close, I can feel it. I have to be..." he started, halting when he realized Riley had no idea about what he was talking about. If he went back now, he may lose the trail. If that happened, he'd have to start from scratch, and that was a leap that may cost the life of who he was looking for. He knew he was being stubborn, but it was a trait he knew all too well had him around the neck.

As Jiki approached from behind Kerwin, he leaned over to see what the uke unicorn was reading. He didn't want to intrude, as he saw the engaged look in the tan unicorn's eyes, so he waited until he was turning the page. "What'cha reading? It looks like it's pretty good," he said quietly, trying not to startle him.

Motega smacked his forhead at Jiki's forwardness. He knew why Kerwin was out here, who else but someone who wanted to be left alone would be out in the dark, reading? "Jiki, I think..." he started, but ended with a defeated sigh. It was no use, the fox beta was just too friendly for his own good. "I'm sorry about that, one-horn," he apologized, standing away.

Riley looked at the coon oddly. Was he some psychopath? Rambling about... something. "Come on, I just want to help you. You can't go anywhere in your condition..." the fox said quietly. "If you continue, you're going to collapse. And that won't help you at all. Please, let me help you!"

Kerwin let out a shrill cry when Jiki spoke. Yes it was quiet, but the unicorn didn't know anyone was behind him. He jumped up and stood there, clutching his book as the light from his flashlight moved to the beta fox and bunny. Winny was breathing harshly, his blue eyes jerking between the two. "Who are you? Why are you bothering me??! I just got to the part where they were going too kiss!"

The lavender bunny heard a cry that he knew to be Winny's. He had heard it many times when Riley had bothered the poor unicorn. Marlon hurried up to see what had happened the poor uke. "Yo Kerwin!" Marlon yelled out, seeing a light.

(( rofl Psychopath... *snerk* ))

Melanion Silvio looked up at the red-haired fox through a sheet of bangs, breathing heavily but able to hear him. He was right... no matter how stubborn he was and didn't want to admit it, the fox was right. If he did continue, he'd either collapse or die from the loss of blood, or both, and that wouldn't help matters at all. He nodded shakily to Riley's offer, "Okay, yeah, you're right. Though... I don't really have anywhere to go. I've... been on my own for a while. Since I escaped. I... don't remember anything before that," he said between slight gasps, a wry grin playing on his lips. This was pathetic...

Jiki jumped back suddenly, not ready for the unicorn to cry out like that. After he got his bearings back, his senses coming back from a sense of overwhelming white, he held his hands up as if Kerwin was holding a gun to him. "Woah, hold on there! I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were that glued to the plot. I was just wondering what you were doing out here all by yourself!" he explained, tail bristled slightly from the surprise.

His ears perked from the sound of another out in the distance, and he realized right away who it was. Maybe it was that he engrained Marlon's voice in his mind, or he guessed from his slight obsession over his feelings, but it paid off. "Marlon?" he called through the darkness, hoping he was right.

"Stick to one thing at a time, pal!" Motega sighed, getting a bit annoyed with Jiki's one-track mind. If this was how love made one act, he wasn't sure he wanted to fall into it! Turning his blue eyes back to Kerwin, he gave him an apologetic grin and said, "Sorry, Jiki here's being just a bit... over-bearing right now. He's got his mind on other things, apparently. Sorry if we bothered you."
PostPosted: Fri Jun 16, 2006 10:01 pm

(( xd Hope I spelled that right... )

The pale-eyed fox grinned when Silvio finally agreed. "You don't? Well you can come back to my place. Then I can bandage you up and then you may do as you wish." Riley said, helping him up.

"By the way, I'm Riley! Your savior." he said, smiling widely. Cocky much?

Kerwin was still shaking as Jiki apologized. "Don't you know not to scare someone people?! It's not polite!" he exclaimed. He was going to say more, but it was then that Marlon called out.

He jerked his head in the direction of his room-floor buddy. "I-I'm here Marlon!" Winny called out. But when Motega apologized, Winny gave a shaky smile. "It's alright... I just-I just don't like being bothered when I get that deep into a book."

Marlon hurried when he heard a familiar voice. And it wasn't Kerwin. When he came even with Kerwin, he stared. "Jiki!" the lavender bunny exclaimed, a goofy grin coming over his face. "What are you doing here?" he asked, totally forgetting about poor Winny.

(( You did! I always want to spell it with a Ph- for some reason, though. O.o; ))

Melanion Silvio looked around nervously, afraid he wouldn't be able to find his way back on-trail if they left. "Couldn't we just... stay here?" he murmured quietly. He knew they couldn't do anything to help his bleeding out here, but he wasn't one to just give up on something he set his heart on. As if on a second thought, he looked back to Riley and stated, "I'll only go with you if you'll help me get back on track. I don't know if I'll be able to remember..." He trailed off, stumbling a little as he held his head, putting his weight against a hand on the rock wall beside him.

As he gained his bearings again, he looked to Riley again, a little surprised at the introduction. He didn't know if the surprise stemmed from his shame he hadn't introduced himself already or from the fox's happy-go-lucky attitude, but he complied with it. "I'm Melanion Silvio. Any nickname is fine by me, because I know it's a mouthful. I usually go by Silvio, but it's my last name..." he said with a slight smirk.

Jiki's grin was almost too big for his face as he saw Marlon come out of the darkness. Who would've thought they'd meet way out here, at a time like this? "Me? Oh, I was out with Motega here. He wanted to explore the area, and I thought I'd tag along. I've never been out here before. How about you?" he explained, striding over to Marlon's vicinity so he didn't have to speak so loud.

Motega smirked as Kerwin replied. "It's understandable. I know when I'm concentrating hard on something, I don't like to be bothered by other people either. Though, I guess it's also understandable that Jiki's acting this way as well," he said with a sigh. "He can be just a bit too friendly sometimes," he explained further with a shrug. Such was the fault of being so young-of-mind and in love, he guessed.

"So... what are you reading?" Motega asked as a change of subject, hoping the unicorn would warm up a little after being so terrified.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 28, 2006 7:30 pm

((Oh good! xD Yeah... I'm never sure on that word!))

Riley shook his head. "Not unless you don't want me to bind up your wounds!" he said. "Come on, I promise I won't hurt you or anything!" But when Silvio agreed to on one condition, the fox nodded. "Totally! I'll help you in any way at all. Lean against me and I'll take you up to my suite. It's nice to meet you Silvio. I like your name, it's awesome!

The brown unicorn smiled a little. "Y-yeah... I guess so. OH! I'm just reading this-" Kerwin showed Motega the book. It was only, the author's name an the title faded. "I got it a second-hand store so it's not in the best of shape..." Kerwin sighed, "But it's still very good!

Marlon had a silly grin on his face as Jiki came closer. "Motega? Must be another one of your floormates, huh?" he asked. "I'm great! Especially with you here..." the bunny replied, hugging Jiki when he was close enough.

(( Yeah, same here. The word I have the most trouble with is "presence." I keep wanting to spell it "prescence." >.>; ))

Melanion turned his head upward a bit to face Riley, head cocked slightly to see the fox through his one functioning eye at the moment. Looking up to someone was always the curse of being short, but he had always had other things that kept his mind from dwelling on such trivial upsets. This Riley... he was quite the strange one. He had told him that he would help him, even without knowing the dangers that lie ahead on his road. Was he just trying to get him to lie down, or was he just thick? Either way, it got the coon to relax as he complied with Riley's offer. He limped over to the fox and wrapped an arm around his shoulders, letting him lead the coon with help. "Thanks. Your's is nice as well," he replied, a bit surprised that he had said that. He never thought his own name was anything special, though he also never thought about why that was all he could remember from before the capture.

Motega smiled a little, no more than he was used to doing. He knew Kerwin hadn't any idea what he was talking about, for the unicorn had to have known the fox beta, at least a little. He was glad that conversing about his book opened him up, leaving his nervousness partially behind. The bunny leaned in to get a better view of the book's cover under the dim light of the moon, but he couldn't read it. He gave Kerwin a swift nod as he explained why it was in that shape, and Motega replied, "It looks like it's good! If you received it in that shape, it must have been well-read by the previous owner. You must have good taste!"

"Yeah, he is! He's just over there, by your friend," Jiki answered, pointing with a thumb over his shoulder at Motega and Kerwin. "He's new, but he knows the area better than I do. I thought it may be good if I got to know it as well, just in case I ever had to come out here," he added, looking around over towards the painted rocks nearby.

He snapped his head back as Marlon latched onto him, a little surprised at the act as he blushed. "R-Really? Me, too," he replied, still unsure how to act under these conditions but happy nonetheless. He didn't know how or if things would ever work out, but he hoped to high heaven that it would.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 28, 2006 9:48 pm

((x3 I always spell "receive" wrong. I wanna switch the 'e' & 'i'. xd ))

"Now thats better!" Riley smiled as Silvio finally started to relax. "We'll be back at my suite in no time. Just hang in there, okay?" The fox could care less about what he was getting himself in to. His need to help others was stronger than fear. That, and was too darn cocky for his own good. And his floormates never passed up a chance to remind the fox of that.

But he could care less! He liked to help people! No matter who they were and what sort of trouble they were in.

Kerwin blushed a little. "Y-yeah... Thanks. Do you read?" he asked, looking at Motega with his sky blue eyes. What else was he to say? They'd just met... and it was because Jiki interrupted him!

"Ooohh... I see!" Marlon replied with a grin. "Glad you feel the same!" The bunny knew he was acting... a little out of character. But he couldn't help it! It was just something about being with Jiki...

(( Oh yes, the i and e thing. Always a tough spot. Like me and spelling "weird." XD ))

"So, which way to your house, then?" Melanion asked, tilting his head from side to side as he looked at the roads. He didn't remember coming past them... was he in that much pain that he didn't even realize where he was going? He was just following the trail, wherever it led him. He grumbled quietly at the pounding in his head, wishing it would go away so he could continue on his journey. So much had happened in such a short amount of time, it was almost too much to remember, or to take. Would his choice now be just as bad? Somehow he doubted it, looking in Riley's eager eyes. He didn't seem to hold any misleading motives, but he might have been distracted enough not to notice. Silvio sighed, deciding to just go with the flow. He'd been through worse; if this got bad, he could always escape again. "Lead on, Riley," he spoke, limping along but trying to put most of his weight against the fox's shoulder.

Motega blinked a few times, but came up empty. He stood back up straight and shook his head, answering, "No, not much. I can't usually sit still that long. I'm the kind of anthro that has to work with his hands or I get uncomfortable, I guess you can say. Maybe if I found a good enough book I wouldn't have that problem, but I haven't really been looking. Maybe... you know of some good books I can try, huh?" If he could just keep up the conversation, maybe Kerwin's fear would fade away. "My name is Motega. What's yours?" the bunny asked, holding out a hand.

"M-Marlon..." Jiki stuttered, unsure of what he should say at a time like this. He was almost tempted to tell Marlon how much he missed and liked him, but he wasn't sure that was possible. Why can't I have enough courage to say something so simple, with as few words as saying it takes? What kind of beta am I? he thought to himself, dropping his head a little and digging his pawed foot into the ground. Why was it so hard? He thought anything was possible around Marlon, but now... it was just hard. Why was that?
PostPosted: Mon Jul 03, 2006 12:05 am

((I don't have a problem w/ weird, oddly enough. Oo; ))

"Oh it's not that far off!" the fox replied with a smile. Riley was quite oblivious to how Silvio was responding, the fox was too happy to be helping someone to really notice. "Oh come now, stop your grumbling. It can't be that bad." he said when he heard some mumbles coming from the coon.

Finally, when Silvio spoke and put his weight on Riley's shoulders, the pale-eyed kitsune grinned widely. "Good! Glad to see you finally saw it my way. Don't worry, I'll take good care of you!"

The chocolate colored unicorn blinked, waiting for Motega to respond. But when he admitted to not reading much, Winny giggled. "Well reading's not for everyone! And working hard isn't for me. Hmm..." Kerwin tried to think of some good, intriguing books that the bunny might like. But nothing was coming to mind.

"Oh! I'm Kerwin. It's nice to meet you, Motega!" the unicorn responded, shaking his hand.

When Marlon pulled away a bit, he gave Jiki an odd look. "What's wrong?" he asked simply, noticing how the beta had stuttered and tensed. "Is something the matter?" Was it something I did? the bunny wondered franticly.

(( Sorry for taking so long. My mom wanted me to fold clothes. A LOT of clothes. @.@; ))

Silvio looked up to Riley, a little surprised at how he was reacting. He was interested that the fox wasn't put off by the blood and Silvio's own condition, as others would. Most would probably not even bother touching him, for fear of harming him further. Either Riley knew that Melanion's threshold of pain was rather high, or he wasn't too careful normally. "Why... are you helping me, anyway?" he asked, curious as they walked. "One would normally call an ambulance or something, why are you even listening to what I want?" He wanted answers, he just wasn't sure how to get them.

Motega grinned, happy that Kerwin was open enough to giggle. At least they were getting somewhere. "Well, everyone has their differences. We just have to find out what we have in common," the teal bunny stated. There was always some link someone had to another, but it wasn't too necessary for them to find one. After all, they were already getting along rather well. "Kerwin? I like your name. Any signifigance behind it, or do you know?" he asked after he shook the unicorn's hand.

Jiki jumped as Marlon pulled away slightly, and exhaled a breath he wasn't aware he was holding. Giving the bunny an apologetic look, he opened his mouth but was unable to form the words. Maybe... we should just stay friends for now. If I'm so afraid of what the outcome will be... he thought with a cringe. He smiled back to Marlon once he snapped out of his thoughts and pulled him into another hug, holding Marlon's head. "It's alright. It's nothing," he said quietly, disheartened over his own words. When the time was right, the words would come. He knew that much.
