Lilly Ghardian

Lilly hated mornings.

Lilly hated children.

So why the hell was she out here?

"Because I love money," the instructor warily said, answering her own mental question. She yawned and stretched both arms above her head, then flipped through the keyboard for the right file. Gabby? How delightful. Lovebird. Oh, great. Observations report her to be a happy, hyper girl. Wonderful.

She couldn't think more sarcastically if she tried.

The small white dragon perched on her shoulder squawked a complaint of his own, eyes narrowing sharply on the garden entrance where yet another child was about to prance through. He and Lilly had much in common, it seemed.

"Aye, I know," Lilly half-yawned, patting him on the head. "Should be here soon."

Lilly's remaining eye twitched, her fist tightening around the handle of her whip. "Aren't you cute as a...bug," she managed, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

One she'd like to squash.

Where did these kids get off being so damn happy at 5 AM?

Muffin, apparently, felt the same way, as he bared his tiny but sharp teeth and released a violent hiss toward the girl. In reponse, the teacher reached over, patted him on the head, and he quieted.

"He won't bite cha or nothin'. Just dun like kiddies. I dun either. Also, you be almost late. Remember, if yer late for Lilly Ghardian's class, it'll be the last thing yer ever late for. Stop being so damn hyper, too. Ain't nothin' to be happy about, Girl. Worlds a horrible place, ya know."

She did like her at least a little for complimenting the garden. Though it was a big surprise to some, Lilly did enjoy caring for it. But heaven help any flower that wasn't a Lilly that dared grow there. It's fate was to be stomped on.

"Right, well. Says yer a lovebird. Not sure what the hell I'm suppose to do with ya." What were those damn things good at? She briefly glanced over the clipboard, shrugged, then tossed it aside. "Anything in particular ya be good at?"

Gabby almost stumbled over from enthusiasm when Lilly called her cute and she gave her one of her widest smiles, naive enough to see it as a compliment. "I really like bugs, at least the flying kinds, cause they're a bit like me too." She replied happily, unable to catch the sarcasm in Lilly's words. She liked this new teacher already; the pink hair forged a bond! Well, in Gabby's eyes anyway.

Her eyes now fell on the creature with miss Lilly, one she had overlooked early because the pink hair had caught all her attention. Taking one step forward she wanted to reach out to pet it, but froze when she heard the hiss and quickly pulled her hand back, giggling softly. Although Gabby was hyper and bubbly, she wasn't exactly stupid and she realized very well that petting this little dragon would cost her a lot more than a single finger. So instead she just gave it a little wave and a huge grin.

Although Sil remained on his place, his eyes flicked towards Muffin and after a second of what back again to Gabby. He didn't sense any danger as Muffin was calmed by the woman but he did attentively look at the other dragon. "Rrer."

Gabby smiled and happily patted Silenias on his back. "It's fine, Sil. She said he won't bite." Gazing back to the woman, Gabby nodded obediently; somehow they always ended up coming late when mommy was with them. The world a horrible place? The woman must be joking! She had pink hair and such a pretty garden but yet she called it horrible? Gabby giggled and nodded, "Mommy loves to make jokes too. Jokes and riddles, sometimes they're about the world too.."

"Yep, lovebird! Just as Paxton, I think we're the only two." She fell quiet for a second and pondered over Lilly's question. "Ummm. Ummm." What was she good at? Flying obviously and talking, mommy had also said that she was a very loyal person, but except for that she knew no real skills yet. "I think I can talk a lot, mama says I'm loyal and I can fly. But I still can't do weird tricks in the air, that is something I'd like to learn. I don't know what else birds are supposed to be good at!" She exclaimed clapping her hands together and gazing up to Lilly. Teachers always had the answer. Yep, that was something that Gabby was sure of.

Twitch.

Don'thitherdon'thither.

Notworthgoingtojail.

Taking a deep breath, Lilly mentally thanked the voice in her head. She really did want to take her whip and strangle this little, bright, oh-so-annoying bundle of feathers and joy.

"I wasn't jokin," she grunted, then held a hand to her head. "Aye, of course ya can fly. Yer a bird..." Headache.

Why couldn't she get some defiant little a*****e with an attitude problem to teach today?

"I guess just... Show me some of yer flying and I'll think about it."

Show her some of her flying? That was something Gabby could do! She would make sure to try her hardest so that miss Lilly would be able to think of something new that had to do with flying! Maybe she’d teach her these tricks in the air or maybe she’d learn her to fly harder or something even better! Who knows! “Okay, miss Lilly! That sounds fun! But you know, it's not just birds who can fly! Vina can kinda fly too, of course it's a bit different, but a bit the same at the same time.” She nodded to herself and giggled.

As soon as Silenias heard the word flying he took another step back and curled up in the grass. He didn’t want to be in Gabby’s way when she was trying to fly. Not that the lovebird couldn’t fly properly, by now she really could and Sil knew that, but he had experienced a ‘Gabby landing’ before. Therefore taking a step or two back was the right thing to do. He grunted softly to let her know that he was still watching and would be there for her in the case anything would go wrong.

Gabby straightened her back and unfolded her now rather large wings, smiling widely as she took off. Starting from the ground was much harder than just jumping off a branch, but she had given it some practice and so things went well, relatively smoothly. She hovered above Lilly and Silenias and grinned down at both of them. Flying still gave her suck a kick! Just being up in the air and looking down at the people on the ground, people who become smaller and smaller the higher you got! As she continued to flap her wings enthusiastically to remain in the air she turned a couple of times in a slightly clumsy way to show Lilly. “Do I need to go higher? Or turn another time?” She almost screamed the words as if she was afraid that Lilly wouldn’t be able to hear her, “I think I can do both! And maybe some other things, too! Ohh, Hi Sil, I’m fine!” She waved down to the dragon and almost lost her balance in the process. Uh-oh, that was something she still had to work on. Balance.

At the same time Sil made sure to keep an eye on both, Gabby and the little creature on miss Lilly’s shoulder. “Merr..” Gabby wasn’t doing so badly, at least she was still up in the air. Hopefully this teacher wouldn’t make her do something impossible or dangerous though. Oh no, as he eyed her he let out another of his soft grunts, in warning-like but non-violent way; he would make sure to keep an eye on Lilly as well.

She certainly felt mildly surprised, but it didn't show. With her whip in one hand, she stood with her arms crossed, and for a long time did nothing more than stare up at the girl in a very serious, intimidating way.

A few more seconds of silence went by. So fast she appeared as a blur of mostly pink and white, she span toward the larger of the two dragons present and cracked her whip, missing hitting him only by inches.

"And how bout yerself, you lazy beast? Can't cha fly, too?" Honestly! Being raised by these children were making the dragons absolutely useless! With her free hand, she grabbed onto Muffin's tail and tossed him in the air. The tiny dragon hovered next to Gabby.

"Let's say Muffin's out to rip yer pretty little owner's throat out, and he's gonna chase her 'round the sky. Would ya be able to do ANYTHING about it?"

Sil winched at the cracking sound of the whip and although he had seen it coming it had still surprised and frightened the Silver Dragon. That woman was crazy—mental, she was way too eager to use that whip of hers. Sil could sense that right now wasn’t the best moment to ponder over things like that, if he wanted to protect Gabby, like he had promised, he had to do something now, even if that meant giving the pink haired monster what she wanted.

The little white dragon, however so small by size, looked as if he wouldn’t mind the thought of attacking Gabby. Sil spread his wings and followed the other two creatures up in the air and as soon as Gabby was into reach he pulled her back with him slightly. Simply creating more distance between the enemy and yourself was far more active than stupidly growling. As he hovered, he turned his head to look at Lilly just to make sure she wasn’t planning anything else and that that whip was staying on the ground, where it belonged.

“Sil, whatcha doing?” said Gabby. In her enthusiasm of being up in the air and doing decently well at that too, she had missed the commotion taking place below her. She had simply figured that the tiny dragon hovering next to her was some part of the class! “But you’re flying, see, it’s not that bad now is it? Look miss Lilly!! Are we doing okay?”

"Very good!" Lilly praised, clapping her hands--or at least, clapping them as best she could while holding the handle of a whip. A lot of people said compliments were rare from her. In her opinion, the students here were just to stupid to deserve any.

"Mmkay, girly, I want ya to fly as quick as you can. Make sure yer dragon there can keep up. If not, the birdys like ya might as well not have 'em."

Gabby loved compliments and she beamed down momentarily. Now she was even more determined to try hard and do well in this class! “Thank you miss Lilly. And ohh.” She nodded a couple of times as a sign that she understood. She had to fly as quick as she could, ha, that was something she had practiced before while messing around with Sahra! Sahra was a quick runner and since her first flying class Gabby was always trying to keep up with her in the air. Of course the cheetah girl was still way faster, and that she’d always be faster was a fact, but as they said, practice makes perfect! And so Gabby was practicing!

“Okay, I think we can do that! Right Sil? Come on, let’s do it!” Gabby began to speed up a little by beating her wings faster and faster and putting a little more power and effort in all of her movements. She looked back to see if the dragon could keep up with her but Sil seemed to be doing fine. His wings were huge after all and he had never been a lazy dragon. “You’re doing great Sil!” She complimented with a wide smile.

Gabby couldn’t help but wonder what Lilly wanted them to do after that though. Would they have to make a landing now? Or first slow down and then land? Or was she just trying to train their speed? “I .. I think this is as fast as we can go, m-miss Lilly.” Gabby panted after a few minutes of flying. It seemed like her boundless energy was starting to wear off. Flying was fun, but energy draining as well!
