The gash in his shoulder affected his gait, forcing him to place more weight on the opposite paw. It was just another scar, and it wouldn't be long before it healed and faded to nothing but a memory, nothing but one more reason to hate the blue god of war.

Blood tainted his white fur, staining his golden mane as it flowed from the wound with every step. And though he tried his best to hide it, to ignore it, he couldn't help the limp, and every few strides he had to pause with his paw off the groud, the joint above free of his weight for a moment before continuing on.

But it wasn't the injury that had put the white lion in such a bad more, nor was that why his tail flicked behind him in irritation. It was the one who had struck him, the one that had caused his blood to flow, the one that had dared insult the red lioness he cared so much for. Crossing paths with his brother always put Tanaka in a foul mood, but this time Kiuma had been dragged into it, and that infuriated him.

Taking a grim satisfaction in the bones that snapped under his feet, the white lion continued his strides through the graveyard. It seemed not even the red lioness at his side could improve his mood, but he was glad she was there, and despite the temper fuming in him and the blood that stained his hide, he couldn't help the smile that crossed his maw when he looked at her.

Inside, Kiuma seethed at the encounter the two had just walked from. She'd come on the god of War fighting with Tanaka.... she'd seen blood streaking that white pelt and the hate on the faces of those two lions. Threaded through the anger was still a touch of fear. Fear for this big male that limped by her side, though the fear was quickly fading to be replaced by releif, and more anger.

Gods... when had he become so important to her?

Still, he was, and she'd finally come to realize that she'd come to love him desperately. Which ment one thing. He was now her mate, and nothing short of death would ever seperate them again. Her head rose a little at that thought, some of the tension going out of her lanky body. Her mate. Hers. He now belonged to her. Casting a glance to Tanaka, she finally broke the rather awkward silence.

"What happened, Tanaka? How did you end up in a bloody battle with that god?" She left out the question she really wanted to ask; Why didn't you call me to help you?

"We...have a history. That blue lion...is my brother unfortunately, we've always hated each other. I suppose...if either of us had the chance...we'd kill the other."

His words were broken, coming between breathes as he fought off the waves of pain and hatred that surged through him. He hated Mrost, despised him, loathed him with a fire that burded from the depths below the ninth plane, and it was true that he would have gladly torn the blue lion limb from limb.

But now there was something more important, someone who meant more to him than anything else, than even himself. And as much as that hatred burned, it paled in comparison to the love he felt for the red lioness. Love? That seemed foreign for him, when had that happened, when had he changed? But he couldn't deny it, it was there at his side, and there he intended to keep it.

"Come on, Tanaka. Let me look at those wounds. We'll need to go find some water soon, but first things first." She turned and stepped out towards the shade, her tail flicking behind her.

"Your brother, eh? You two don't look anything a like." She mused. "And I doubt I need to ask what started all this hatred for each other." She sat down just inside the line of shade, curling her tail primly around her creamy paws. Eyes as red as she blood he shed studied him carefully, assessing the damage and what she'd be able to do for him. While half of her mind cataloged injury, a small part of it picked out traits she liked best about him. The list was very, very long. Perhaps one day their cubs might have those traits... That thought brought a smile to her face and a glint to her eyes.

Once Kiuma decided something, she threw herself into it body and soul. There was no question about whether or not it was going to happen, no doubts at all.

Not that the thought hadn't crossed his mind numerous times before despite how different they looked. Oh the evil schemes he thought up with his brother as the victim of his murderous rage. But in all their years of fighting, neither had ever emerged victorious.

The white lion paused in his steps, one paw off the ground, the fire of rage fading in his green eye as he looked up at the red lioness. What was that look for? He was a proud lion, never one to admit to an injury or a weekness, he was fine...really.

But as he was about to protest, he felt his shoulder buckle under his weight, seemed he'd have to listen, but he wasn't going to make a habbit of it. Snorting, his head turned in what was a definite sulk, he limped to the shade of the skull and sat on his haunches, his tail flicking unhappily behind him.

Proud almost to a fault, he was, but it was something that normally helped him. It made other respect him, but got in the way of little things, such as her helping him. No matter. He'd take her help or she'd beat him till he submitted to it. That thought brought another chuckle.

"What a mess you are." She grumbled playfully as she moved close, bending to gently lick along the gash in his shoulder to test the extent of the damage. Satisfied that it was only a flesh would, she set to licking deeper, pulling the blood from the furr. Her touch gentled over the wound itself, making sure there was no dirt or debris in it to hinder his healing. Almost done with that part, she sighed softly. There was a lot to go yet...

The white lion growled low wearing a decidedly unhappy expression, and tail thuding hard against the ground, the gold ring clinking against the skull behind him. He was perfectly fine, and he could take care of his own wounds, he always had in the past. He didn't need help, even if she was his mate, he...

But something in her eye, in the way the red lioness held herself, told him it would be unwise to fight. He'd let her win...this time. So he contented himself with letting the thumping of his tail voice his displeasure.

"I've been hurt worse...ow! Would you be careful."

His voice was barely raised, only the slightest challenge. He was letting her help, yes, letting, he was under no circumstances submitting. He wasn't going to fight, but he wasn't going to help either. Proud and stubborn.

Her tongue finished the shoulder wounded and moved down to the claw marks on his sides, concentrating on the blood in his fur before she gently cleaned his wounds. She smiled as she groomed him, his grumpy demeanor only endearing him to her. She had no fear that he would ever turn his anger on her, or hurt her.

"I know you've had worse, but that doesn't mean that this isn't bad either. Infections are easy to come by and hard to recover from." Only when she was satisfied she'd gotten every thing did she sit back, licking her paws and cleaning her face of his blood. Keeping her eyes on her paws, she spoke casually. "By the way... if you ever get into a fight like that again, with out me, I'll kill you myself." She purred, dropping her paw to look at him with deadly seriousness in her eyes.

He chose not to respond to her jab, after all he had been protesting more against the act than he was about any pain it may have caused.

He had remained still save for the irritated flicking of his tail, dismissing the the idea of infection without another thought. It wasn't that he thought she was wrong, he knew better, he was just to angry, too proud to admit it, and if it were to happen, that was something he could deal with as well.

But when she spoke again his tail instantly froze, and his head turned, green eye gazing directly into the red eyes of the lioness.

"Well, you could try."

He took a step toward her in what was definitely a challenge, standing with his one paw off the ground tail flicking behind him. The white lion was definitely not submissive, and he wasn't about to change that, not without a fight.

"Besides...you could end up worse..."

His tone had softened, he was honestly afraid for her safety. Truth was, he'd have welcomed her fighting at his side, he'd have relished in it. But he wasn't going to allow her to be hurt either, and Mrost wouldn't have hesitated to do so just to get to him.

With their chests nearly touching, she stared up into his eye and growled. "I'd do more than try, love." Her tail flicked as she faced him down. She was unafraid of him, despite all the evidence he'd shown her of how ruthless and viscious he could be. "I'd make sure you were in no condition to fight again, if you fight with out me. I'll not have you hurt so badly again with out my support." Injuries happened, she accepted that. But if he was injured with no one to help... he could loose his life, and that was intolerable.

"I'd rather be hurt by your side than to be safe and whole on the sidelines. Face it, Tanaka. We're partners now. Everything we do together, or not at all, from now on." She smirked, daring him to refuse her.

But Kiuma was right, damn her. She meant more to him than his own life, she was his life, and as much as he wanted to keep her safe, he couldn't force her to sit by and watch were he to battle again. He would have felt the same way after all, he would have never let her face an enemy alone.

His expression softend and the lion took a step back, yielding for the first time he could ever remember. But he wasn't submitting, no, just agreeing, at least that's the way he saw it. Besides, there was no point in fighting over it now, he could always find away to keep her out of it later should Mrost show his face again. Though he wasn't sure he'd have the heart to try.

"As you wish, together as one."

His words were honest, from the heart. But even though he had yielded and his head lowered, there was still some defiance in his posture. He wasn't submitting, and he wasn't afraid of her. Though he could never harm her, truth was she could have gotten away with anything, things that he would have killed any other for. He was hers, completely, as much as she was his.

Gathering youthful muscles in her lanky body, she launched herself at him and wrapped her forelegs tight around his neck. She bit his neck through his thick made, hardly able to feel his body under all that fur.

"You'll never be rid of me now, Tanaka." She chuckled into his ear, purring hard. "You're mine now." She laughed, her claws shooting from her soft paws to p***k through his fur.

His eye had show surprise, caught off guard for a moment, but his expression quickly changed, low growl turning into a deep feral purr. His head turned, his muzzle placed against her ear, his voice was low.

"It is you who belong to me."

His words were barely out before his jaws parted only to close on her ear, harder than a n**, but not enough to really hurt her. Unfotunately she had him at a disadvantage, he he had tried to shift his paws he'd have surely toppled over.

She bit him again, strugging to catch his neck through the thick fur as her jaws worked. His words made her heart flutter and her stomach clench in delicious excitement. She'd have kept him even if he didn't want her, but it was so much better to know he returned her feelings.

"You are still mine! I may belong to you, but you are mine!" She growled, returning the n** to her ear with one of her own, feeling his earings click between her fangs. She threw her weight back, dragging him down with her into the dusty and dirt. Her paws scrabbled for purchase, kicking up a cloud that rose to darken the air around them and drift outwards. It tickled her nose, her body shaking as she sneezed.

She was aggressive, he liked that, and it only served to intensify what he was already feeling. A silent growl became nothing more than a breath, and though talons instictly clawed at the earth to keep his balance, he found himself pulled off his feet, tumbling to the earth below.

Tail lashing, he struggled against her in desperation. His own paws surged in the darkness, reaching for her shoulders, searching for whatever hold would bring him back in control, to force her to submission.

"You've got that backward."
