Is spotting a probelm for anyone else? Or am I totally alone in this world? I have a real problem with it. I mean, I practice, and I really do try, but it's just hard for me. My dance teacher says I won't get into Dance Company 1 until I get it, but I don't think I ever will. Any tips?
EDIT: things have gotten worse, my dance teacher's threatened to send me back to a basic level if I can't get the spot by September!

yeah spotting is hard. your really have to try and look at the one point for as long as possible, also dont pick a high point because it will mae your turns go all wonky. Try to get a friend to stand in front of you and spot them. if they happen to be a hot past pupil then how bad? blaugh

Yeah, took me forever. >< Actually, while I do spot now, it doesn't help me at all with dizzyness; it's more for show than anything else. XD
Try putting a sticker on the wall. Start with simple turns (peke and shenay, or howEVER you spell them.) I've also found that the faster you do a turn, the easier it is to spot.

practice simply, just stand in one spot, choose an item on the wall @ eye level and spin in a circle, feet flat on the floor, in one spot. concentrate on just spotting perfectly, and PRACTICE PRACTICE PRATICE. trust me, it helped me.

Practice, Practice, Practice. Practice makes better, Not perfect, better. find a fairly large space with something cushy to land on, and pick a spot about at your eye level. Shuffle-turn(just turn around as fast as possible, not on one foot, though) as fast as possible, attempting to keep your spot, then when you get VERY dizzy, and can't hold your spot at ALL, fall onto your cushy something (a couch, pillows, mats, etc...) and let your head stop spinning. repeat at least once a day.
I also used to have lots of trouble spotting too, and I do this for fun, and have found my spotting has really improved. I can now spot more times than I can pirotte (I hate French, The spelling is so annoying)
BTW, if this doesn't work, definatly try the other suggestions!

First I couldn't do it either, it was really hard.
But then suddenly, one dayt, I spotted fully automatic. It was really weird. Now, If I think of spotting (remember to spot when I'm supposed to) I can do it. It's really weird, convenient too, but sorry, I can't help you learn how to spot.... whee
