Birds were singing, bees were buzzing, and river water was pounding against itas bank. All of which Xipetotec was utterly oblivious too. Even if he had been born with ears, he probably would have ignored it.
The massive and oddly colored male held bitter resentment for all things cheery. His tastes favored morbid scenes. To such a point that he would sometimes go out of his way to be in viewing distance of one.
Despite his cannibalistic nature Xipetotec had tracked and slaughtered a buck just this morning. A fully stomach left him quite docile. Weaving casually amongst trees he avoided direct sunlight with a very fickle matter. Shade and shadows did nicely. The world is always colder in the unseen.

Heimdal rather liked birds. They never seemed to miffed about anything.
Well, some did. Those big ones that would aparently eat pups, but he hardly considered them birds anyway. Most birds were never miffed about anything. Neither were trees. Ah man, they were great. You could just lay under them, and they would provide shade, and let ya sleep without any hassle. Even if you should have been doing something else.
Heimdal should have been doing something else. But after weeks and weeks in this territory, and no sign of his sister had left him with little drive. A nap under a tree would make no difference in time. He had allowed himself this kind of break ever more frequently. However, after hours of rest, it was probably a good idea to get moving again. So a bit ago he had stood and picked a direction at random to head in. Pick and chose was the name of the game lately.
At least it was a pleasant day for a walk. He padded lazily through the woods, half-lidded eyes pointed foreword and ears twitching lazily to catch the noises around him. He had been smelling a wolf for awhile. Not exactly rare in these parts, but he thought this wolf was still about. Perhaps had tred these lands now long ago. It might not be a bad idea to search another out.
He sighed slightly, not depressed exactly, or even put off, just a deep breath to begin his trek, and he veered off to the right a bit, begining to track down the distant wolf.

To his general surprise the heat didn't seem to bad. Ignoring the fact that he was walking in the shade that is.
If you could even count this as shade. The trees were slightly thinner in this area Xipetotec sourly noted. He disliked trees. All they did was stand around all day and drop things on your head. If he wanted that he could have stayed with his siblings. Trees? No thank you.
Siblings. Where were those two anyway? Bumbling idiots. Honestly. Tell them to do one thing. One simple thing. And what do you get? Birds and trees! That's what you get!
Being upwind and deaf may not have been the best idea for some wolves. But being brutishly large and hopelessly arrogant, Xipetotec preferred to be upwind. Not to say he wouldn't occasionally..stop quietly and glance behind him...you know..in case someone fell behind.. But being alone didn't really give the male an excuse to look back, which wasn't really an issue because there probably wasn't even anyone around to notice.
It was an ever so slight turn of his head but a turn of his head none the less and Xipetotec found that his average vision couldn't detect a single thing except for a few crazy a** squirrels running up and down a tree.

Hmm, squirrels. Those were some fun animals. Good for a laugh for sure. You could almost never catch them, and when you did it was almost such a shock that you ended up letting the thing go anyway.
Good fun though.
He continued his trek, padding silently through the sparce undberbrush, enjoying the feeling of the sun speckled through the leaves. It was pleasantly spacious, the trees here had not grown entirely together and the cannopy provided a kind half-shade that was warm but not too bright.
Heimdal wasn't afraid of much. He wasn't a small wolf by any means, in fact, on height alone he was pretty large, however his build was leggy, a lithe wolf rather then a bulky one, but he handled himself pretty well in a fight, at least to this point in his life.
Hmm, wolf would be close soon. Smelled close enough. Unpleasantly enough, smelled like death actualy. He smilled lazily, not willing to draw any conclusions yet. However, within the next minute he would be in veiw of the stranger, so perhaps it was time to introduce himself.
"Hello!" he called out lazily, continuing foreword, sidestepping a large branch, trusting to have a return greeting soon.

By the time the other wolf had called out a greeting Xipetotec had already turned away and of course by lacking ears he hadn't heard.
Dang the world was boring. Or maybe it wasn't boring at all. Maybe it was always secretly telling you about what would happen next. But if you heard no sound maybe you would just have to wait and see. Patience. Much to his regret the male did have some patience.
Keeping his constant pace he slunk over a fallen tree and began to slide cautiously down moist earth.
