Decided to make my own thread to kinda chronicle things on Maple Story for me. Others can feel free to post too if you actually feel inclined to 3nodding
I'm only on the Global (Western) server. I don't have any specific channels I'm always on, I hop a bit depending on how many people are on and how lag is, and if I change to find someone else. If there aren't many people on I go lower, like 4-7, if a lot more like 12-17.
NOTE: I started a new journal for entries on my full version characters, this one is only for beta.

Goals:
I want to PQ as much as I can before I hit level 30 with my bowman just for fun, though I'm leery of joining groups I don't already know and I know most people here are too high already. I am really looking forward to getting my 2nd job advancement at 30 3nodding
Working on getting a Red Viper, either by synth or buying outright, slowly putting meso in the fund and looking for ores.
I'd like to eventually get some of the cute nifty items, like the fan, umbrella, and lolilpop etc. but I know I need to work to a higher level for that. I'm finding a real liking for many of the earrings.
Check latest entry for specific short-term goals.

Right now I don't have the fortune in mesos amassed that most players seem to, but I'm working at it. So I can't afford everything on my list as of yet. If you have any bowman items just let me know and I'll see what I can give ya. I am also happy to take lower level female warrior stuff for my budding warrior.
I don't find too much in the way of good drops since I'm not up to fighting the high level monsters yet either. If I do have anything you want just let me know here and I can hold it until we can arrange a meet up in-game.
Notes: I was given Red Silky Boots (lvl 35), Red Legollese Pants, Brown Legollesse Pants (lvl 40), Green Distinction hat (lvl 40), and White Piettra Pants (lvl 40), so I don't need those (thanks! heart )

I've finally met some nice people around! Both here and in the LJ community.
Thanks so much to Emi and crew for helping me out! (I'm so bad at remembering names, sorry, that's what friends list is for sweatdrop ) I'm usually on late so I miss a lot of people, but caught them tonight 3nodding Wow so many people on Gaia on there, even people not part of the guild.
I was really hurting for arrows, and got passed a ton of feathers so I'm all good now! That was my main concern so that really frees me up to explore further. Thanks so much heart
Got to level 15 today so I feel good about that, had a couple new pieces of equipment bought and ready to go. I find myself favoring the bow over the crossbow, I prefer speed to the bit of extra damage. I go back and forth though since I have both.
I've been having fun both partying and going solo. I like to help low level people get some exp sometimes, I like doing nice things. I hope when I'm in better shape to be able to pass on more items etc. (I already passed someone some arrows now that I have a good supply.) Yay for random acts of kindness! We must outweigh the people who suck on MS. Not that there aren't also people are plain stupid sweatdrop
I have also learned very quickly that what a person is wearing doesn't necessairaly indicate level. I'm amused by high-level people who run around in n00b-ware xd I like to look up users profile to see their actual level and what equipment they have a lot.
Note to myself- check the shops for any more new equipment, invest in some scrolls from each town for easier travel.

While in my explorations of Henesys I discovered that people will take off their cloths and pretend to be newbs a lot at the place near the cab, so alway check their profile before you give them things! I also discovered that if you go all the way up to the western henesys hunting ground 3 less people will be there making it easier to hunt. Another tip is to go to the empty house hidden street often, orange mush and iron hogs will randomely appear, so you will not have to worry about over monster population. also people will some times drop items (such as arrows) in that area.
while explring kerning city, I discovered that the area near the pq place is great for picking up items, simply get potions that increase you speed/jump and when someone is standing on the "hard to reach platform" dropping tons of items use the potions and reach the platform, the rest explains itself.
I am currently exploring the other areas and will report back with updates!

I made another level, so I'm 16 now, and getting real close to 17 3nodding Emi has been helping me with quests, I finished the Indian dude's house one with her help. She also took me to the area in Sleepywood for the jumping quest and I must have spent at least a couple hours there but I finally got frusterated and gave up. Thanks for the patience of a couple of you to hang with me a bit, but in truth it almost makes me more nervous cause I feel bad wasting your time sweatdrop . I was getting really close on the 2nd level but I was getting tired and I knew I was getting too annoyed to get farther, so I left. Since I'm getting close to leveling again I want to concentrate on some other things a bit before I try to go back, sometime when I have more patience. I'm like the worst jumper ever, and the little stutters of lag don't help crying But now I know where it is so I still appreciate that. I also now know where pig beach is 3nodding
Currently I have a couple short-term goals for stuff I think I can accomplish in a reasonable time. I wrote down everything I need for quests and for items I want to get made.
for one I want to make the hunter bow, for lvl 20
it requirest 30 processed wood, 50 red snail shells, 3k mesos
shells are no prob, working on the woods. I mostly want to get it made so I can stop carrying the snail shells and free that space. Though I suppose I could sell them and get that many again easily once I get enough wood.
I'd also really like to make some bowman gloves.
for the lvl 15 ones, I need
15 leather, 20 blue mushroom caps, 5k mesos
I havn't killed any blue mushrooms yet though I've seen a couple, not sure how hard they are but I figure in a coupe levels I can take them. I am also still working on getting more leather, the pigs don't drop it too much but I've been working on killing them.
(the lvl 20 gloves require 20 leather, 20 blue mushroom caps, 2 steel plates, 10k mesos)
I don't really have enough of any ores or anything to make something from them yet though it seems like a good number of things require screws.
finally I want to get to a high enough level to get in the subway so I can get the 50 Bubblings Huge bubbles to complete that one quest. I think I already have the 50 green mushrooms or if I don't I can get those pretty easy.
I dont' really want anyone to just *give* me all the items I need for quests, I do want to put some of my own effort into earning them. By doing them I'm earning experience anyway, and I feel like I worked for it. I appreciate the help everyone has given but don't want to rely on it too much, only I can level my character by working at it.
Man there really isn't that much space in inventory! I thought since there was a scroll bar that it'd end up scrolling down when you filled the screen, but guess not! Had to ditch some stuff and I now know I need to be more selective about what I choose to pick up. Just selling back to the store everything not needed for quests or item production. Its hard with ores taking up so much space though! And if you refine them that's one more space its taking, so I guess you shouldn't do that until you know for sure you're going to use it. Not that I'm to that point yet. I only have a couple of a couple different types of ore.

I know some high level people get bored and like to mess with n00bs for fun or be outright silly 3nodding I've also had random strangers drop some arrows for me which I think is very kind, I try to return in like if I see any other n00b bowman around, unless they've been defamed several times. Somtimes I think people get defamed for messing with the wrong people, but other times they've probably done something to deserve it. Yeah I was shown that area right next to Henseys 3 up! I go there fairly frequently. It really depends if I'm looking to hunt something specific if I go there or not, since there's no pigs and there's better places for more stumps. I'm not sure if I've been to the second place you mention. I think iron hogs are still too hard for me.

I try to go where there is some people so I don't risk being alone with a bunch of monsters, but not too many to make it lag badly. Since I'm on late the lower channels usually aren't that bad, if its earlier I try for like 10+ Awesome, someone not *too* far ahead of me 3nodding

Yay made level 17 last night!
Got a good start on the materials needed thanks to Emi, EskiaMS, and one other person (Nievea? sp?), tons of firewood and got the leather I needed. I'm currently over in Perion, but there isn't a guy there who can process wood so I think I'm going to go back to Henseys shortly, since I can now process a couple pieces of equipment too, and I could use some more arrows and have plenty of material for it. Man, I don't know how warriors make it there at lvl 10, Perion has some really hard enemies around it and I still have difficulty with wandering around there, its the only place still that I easily run into trouble alone. Still havn't died since I got a job though! Not that I wasn't close a couple times. Next time I'm on I'll probably hang around there and level a bit, then use a scroll back to Henseys when I run low on arrows. My current best secondary weapon is the purse sweatdrop
Next materials I want to try for are the blue mushroom caps I think, though I only know of a couple spots with a few of them I'll look around more. Need to clear out my inventory of anything I'm not needing for quests/item making. Still leaves me with a lot in there stare With the number of items in a game no wonder people have mule accounts. Plus you seem to only be able to carry 200 of an item before it starts filling another slot. I sold some stuff to the store already so I'm beginning to get a somewhat decent amount of mesos saved.
I've also been gifted with a couple other useful items which I won't be able to equip until a higher level, but am thankful for those since they will be there when I get there 3nodding

Anyways, its Naehev. sweatdrop I had my friend Hatewave kill the fireboars so the Dark Axe Stumps would spawn (he owed me for all those cursed dolls).
Also, warriors can take the cab to Perion so they don't have to hack their way through all those monsters.

Lvl 20= so close and yet so far crying Ack, all those vowels mess me up sweatdrop I didn't realize that was you but now I know 3nodding Yeah, I know they can cab over, but once you're there and have the job that's rather expensive. You'd have to invest in some scrolls and cab elsewhere to be able to level easier, and then bop back for new equipment. I think Henseys seems one of the best areas for newbies to level. There's a good mix of enemies and if you're careful you can take a safe route though harder ones.

Buy scrolls. It's better than taking the cab.
Depends which level. Slimes are pretty good most of the times. Then try green mushies.
If you wanna take on the horny mushies, try the right tree in...er..what was the name of that area...well...3 screens south of ellinia xd
