I brought my computer with me (just a lap top) and a bunch of extra cords to hook to the pads so no tangle worries
any way I got to play some songs I've been dying to try on pad
I played some expected ones (mostly titlin and K//Eternal stuff to start) and then some really good guys saw me trying Skors RED ZONE
and challenged me, so we played crazy songs for hours
I even managed to beat The theme for Taotao Ehonkan Sekai Dobutsu-Banashi (man was that a run) and I beat Cmcm's Heaven is a place on earth, I tried Star Child, but lost in the middle (too long)

anyone else ever sm at the arcade?
or pad these files?

Quasar better be on there.

I would give anything to play Quasar on an arcade pad.

All you have to do is have a CD with stepmania on it. Then you can play StepMania on the actual machine. Thats what I heard. I would also like to play ITG songs on a DDR machine that doesn't have songs that are off sync.

I can't beat that on the keyboard (then again I suck)

Well, You need an ITG machine, a laptop, a blank CD and stepmania. You put the file Stepmania.exe on it and put it on there I guess. That's all I know. Trick Master Mint told me most of it. His account is blocked for a certain time so If you have a question ask me and I'll tell him.

He has a second account known as Xelamint. Also, is there anyway to put Stepmania on a disc that can run on the PS2? Odds are: No (since it is an awesome pipe-dream).

Don't think so, but I'm pretty sure you can hack ITG PS2 and add your own songs to it.

What you'll need for the ITG hack is really the decompiling tools to rip the game into its basic components (its stepmania, dur) and then recompile the game into its original format and burn. The decompiling software goes around by the zip file entitled UnITG.zip if I remember correctly

And for the arcade machine, this has been discussed already at the Bemanistyle forums.

Ok, this has always been a question, now here is the answer. Once and for all.

I do not have many pictures right now, but this guide will tell you how to build a stepmania machine.

Things you will need:
A computer with an AGP Slot
J-Pac (www.ultimarc.com) (PS2 is better then USB)
ArcadeVGA (www.ultimarc.com)
Screw Driver
Wire

Things I Recomend:
Sound Blaster Live 5.1

Ok, heres the deal. Take the DDR PCB out of the ddr machine. With the ArcadeVGA installed on the PC run the VGA cord fromt he PC to the JPac. Then run the JPac to the computer's PS2 keyboard slot. Plug the jamma harnest into the JPac.

Take the screw driver and take the 2 metal panels that cover the pad controll boards off of the pad. These panels will be the one to the right of 1P Up and to the left of 2P Up. Now that you are looking at the two controll boards, you will see 4 pad connectors, 1 power connector and 1 main connector running to each board. Use a small length of wire to bridge Wire 1 of the main connector (black) to Wire 3 of the main connector (white). This will allow the JPac to controll the entire pad now, not just 4 of the 8 arrows. You can now re-assemble the pad.

Now, using the screw terminals on the jpac run a wire from a ground and a button screw to the service button, because the service button will not work with the JPac regularly.

Install the JPac software and turn of "Shift Keys". If you do not the 1P start button will not work right.

Now for Stepmania. You need to use Stepmania CN Arcade Build 5 to make this function right. With the JPac it often picks up single depressions as double taps due to the way the sensors are set up. AB5 offers a Debounce function that will stop that. Setting Debounce = 0.060000 stopped that issue for me without hindering performance. I have seen sever AAs of Max. with it, so I know it is not too big.

For the lights, you will need to contact Charles Lohr about purchasing a lights controller. I hve used his units and they work perfectly. Go to www.CNLohr.net for contact information.

Any other questions please feel free to ask.

Heres a pic of the machine that I build for Tokyo Game Action in Woonsocket, RI.

NOTE: There are legal issues when using Official Konami Graphics / Song. I had to go through one hell of an ordeal to be legally sound with DDR Forever's use of said songs / graphics. Please be aware that converting a machine to a SM Machine and using said graphics / songs can and may result in legel ramifications from Konami. Buildign and selling kits using this method WILL result in legel ramifications by Konami. This HOWTO was made for educational purposes only. I am not in any way responsible for what happens legelly / mechanically with your machine should you chose to use these instructions.

The ITG2 machine is a little more complicated because it demands that the user has basic understanding of Linux because that's what the machine is built to run on. The system boot up is interupted when an USB device is present in one of the two USB ports in the front. If certain software is present such as another build of linux it will boot it up and allow the user to navigate the hard drive provided they have a keyboard connected in the other USB port. You can use a USB hub to connect a flash drive a laptop, and a keyboard if you want easier file management and navagation.

The hard drive is split into several partitions and I think its the 2nd partition that has the game's data located in the songs folder. This is all standard for Stepmania so if you're accustomed to creating files for SM you should be at home here.

The file structure of the step files for ITG2 is different from that of Stepmania and requires that each difficulty have its own file (the file extension I'm not currently sure of but its not dwi, sm, ksf, or any other normally used extension). The audio has to be recorded in ogg vorbis at 128kbps and I don't remember the exact size needed for the background and banner. Same goes for the video but it can be encoded in divx or mpeg, your choice.

I think I have everything need software wise but I'll need to double check.

So you're saying all you need to do is put it in your computer and take the crap from it and just add it what you want, burn it, take it out, and put it in your PS2? Sounds simple enough. I'll wait until ITG gets cheaper so I don't ruin the one my brother bought. He'd kick my a** if I ruined anything he paid for.

lol, its not even that, what you do is you take the original and you make a copy of it on your computer, from there you go about what you want to do (yes you can switch theme graphics but be careful) and then burn it to a DVD+/-R at the slowest speed possible.
