Just wondering how many college band geeks there are out there.
What college band do you play in? What instrument? Even if you aren't in college yet, who's your favorite? Who would you want to play with?
Or talk about anything else college band related!
---- I'm in the University of Miami Band of the Hour (HARRRUMPH!!) and wouldn't want to play trumpet anywhere else!

But that would also be an instrument I would want to try...if my band ever ran out of trombones, of course.

The school that I attend does not have a marching band just a band that plays in the stands. I am about to be a sophomore, and I am wondering whether I not I would like to do concert band throughout the year. What do y'all think? What are the positives and negatives of this that y'all have noticed? Your comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Corny, I know, but its true wink If you love band, then without a doubt, join it. But there are other things you should consider: when do they meet? Does this conflict with other classes and extracirriculars that you have? What skill level is the band and what skill level do you play at? Do you have other time that you'd be able to fit in unexpected stuff (i.e., other performances and practices)? But most importantly, expect to have fun. If the band isn't going to be fun, there's no point in being in it. biggrin I hope this was decent advice and helps you out in your decision. 3nodding

I had thought of all of that stuff, but it sure is nice to hear it from someone else. Thanks! biggrin

I personally am a high school junior. My boyfriend got me interested in the IUP Marching Band (his sister is engaged to a music major there), and he burned me a CD of theirs for an early V-Day gifte. In fact I'm listening to it now, I love their music! They really make me wish I was a brass player. Mr.Zamperini is also a big fan of Duke, and suggests that we mimic their instand style sometimes. I've been thinking I'd do college band, but it depends on how things work with my Marine Corps scholarship...
