Eclipse A darker Dragon Knights AU
-Important- The posts before the "Chapter One" post are intro posts, they're like a part of the introduction here below but yuo could more correctly see them as a prolouge. End message.
Introduction An eclipse is when the power of one thing overshadows that of another. This is a dark and brooding tale of how a race almost came to eclipse another... This is the tale of the Dragon Tribe kingdom of Dragoon, on the continent of Dusis when the gracious Dragon Lord Lykouleon was on the throne and the adamant Youkai Lord Nadil sought to wipe the lighter race from the face of the earth. This is 'Eclipse'; a story about dark blood glittering in the light of the full moon.
It's the 2nd year into the dragon-youkai war and the Dragon Tribe suffered heavy losses during the first year. But in the beginning of the second year of bloodshed, luck seemed to turn somewhat onto the lighter race as the youkai with mysterious powers, Cesia, came into the hands of the dragons. Mightily injured, and heavy of heart at the disappearance and possible death of her beloved, the dragon successor Rath Illuser, the young woman was placed deep within the heart of the Dragon Castle so that the youkai would never be able to touch her. From her deep, enchanted sleep she empowers the Dragon Emperor Lykouleon's Light, which creates a powerful light shield around the whole capital of Draqueen, protecting it. Despite this turn of events, the demonic race was still strong, too strong perhaps to be beaten, and it was then that the Dragon Tribe was forced to make their darkest move in all history. A sinister secret that no one ever wanted to do but had to be done. Still the odds were low and creeping even lower, but then, all of a sudden, something seemed to happen and the fights began to get even. What had happened on the youkai side?
Characters: NPCs (these characters cannot be played or taken, exceptions may be done and the NPC remade into a PC but that's still only a maybe): Lykouleon Cesia Alfeegi Sabel Rath Master Varawoo
PC (player characters, if some of these characters lack a player for a long time they will become NPCs until someone requests them so that we can have as many characters in action as possible): Rune - Manda Thats - Kamikits Gil - Chibi baka Ruwalk - Nadil Teceous/Tetheus - Kelisa Rin Cernozura - Vierres/Bierrez - Nadil Kaistern (explanation about this guy will be given to the player who takes him) - Raseleane - Delte - Ringleys - Tintlet - Rim Kaana - Zoma - Kitchel -
Kharl (Avis Rara) - Garfakcy - Nohiro - Miyabi - Silk -
Nadil - Shydeman - Shyrendora Shyrendora - Shyrendora Fedelta -
*For those of you who wish to make a new OC I'm sure that you could pick out a good bio sheet form from one of the version used by others in the OC thread. ^^
Original characters: Maxwell - Chibi baka Amashen - Manda A whole bunch of dragon fighters (XD; ) - Kamikits Maids (Kiele and Lima) - Nadil Sen (maid) and Ryokou (dragon fighter) - Kelisa Rin
----------------------- This Au is set a bit, exactly how long we aren't sure, into the future from what we currently know. (Or what I currently know by having Japanese volume 24 ^^; ;p Fufu.) Yes, you read right, Rath has mysteriously disappeared and no one knows if he even is alive anymore, he has been gone for some time now. Cesia is finally, and have been for a while as you can see, on Dusian soil and under the protection of the Dragon Emperor. Why is Lykouleon called the Dragon Emperor (except for that is his real title and Tokyopop just decided that since he only ruled one countrymake him "Lord" instead)? Because all of Dusis has, during these two years of fighting, become a part of Lykouleon's kingdom for the safety's sake. So Dragoon is now all of Dusis but the former countries are still called their names and province, like the Memphis province. Who will play the NPC if not the players? The game master(s), GM for short. I'll be one of them, my sister may help me on some. The people who are rendered NPCs are important to plot or... "incapacitated", so to speak. ^^;;

Bloody fields, injured people, death notes to be delivered to families, burning bodies... This was something of a normality by now, had been for some time. The bodies of dead youkai were burned while the bodies of brave Dragon Fighters were dug out and respectfully sent back home to their family and relatives, every name being noted down as demised. It is ugly, war, but this is the reality of our situation. We, or the Dragon Tribe, are in a full-scale war with the Youkai Tribe. I can't really say 'we' anymore because I'm dead.... I may still be as pure dragon as Ruwalk or anyone else but I'm still dead. I can't do anything to help them... I'm just the spectator this time. Riima and Duma had to leave for the Kingdom of the Dead so I'm left alone to watch over Draqueen, no, over all of Dusis now. But they told me to tell them immediately if something big happened, Riima herself promised me to be back as soon as she possibly could, even if that meant stealing the cloud and leaving Duma behind. Heh, she's too sweet...
Lone watcher of all of Dusis, but the ones I watch the most are my dear ones in Draqueen? and especially our Lord, Lykouleon-sama.
The fairly tall, dark cloaked figure stood some feet away from the elaborate throne, staring at the golden haired man sitting on it. Lykouleon, leader of the Dragon Tribe and Emperor of Dusis... Fiery orange orbs watched the man who was leaning forward in his seat, lower arms on his thighs and head facing the ground, hands just hanging down over his knees. He looked tired, the dark cloaked figure couldn't blame him. The consort, the ever-loving beauty with the clear gray eyes had just left to get some more bandages. A wound was bleeding again.
The deep hood that usually covered the Lord's head was down, the throne room was empty, after all. When had he begun wearing that large, dark cloak? Alfeegi remembered the first time he had seen Lykouleon wear it, it had been unpleasant. Not in a bad way that made you fear the emperor but in a way that made anyone who knew him see that he suffered... suffered more from the reason he wore it than Nadil's curse that was still, but much slower now, eating away at him. The heavy cloak and light armor in form of shoulder guards that always shielded his form now and the sword he wore on his hip... it was so far from those old days before the war... before Nadil had betrayed them. Damn that man for all the misery he had given them!
A sigh echoed through the empty hall, sound bouncing softly for the lack of people. "... I'm sorry, so sorry. This was not meant to happen... never."

If I could crawl out of my ******** skin, I would. But I was never a quitter, even if we somehow would be allowed to to quit. ******** Dragons. If I plausibly could turn around and slaughter them, I would, but then the rest of the world would be doomed because of the youkai, so I can't do that either. Mama always called me a practical child... not that it's helped me recently. They called it "adopting", I'd call it forced assimilation without any choice to say no. Conscription, I suppose. Not that we've been treated badly. But this is war, and the dragons... are desperate. <********. I can't really blame them, can I?
He had no idea what was going on. Stumbling into the circular room with about two dozen other humans, grim-faced dragons lining the walls at even intervalls, Maxwell felt like swearing. The oppressive atmosphere kept him silent though, better than any order to do so could have. The other humans, muttering among themselves fell silent when another dragon (supposedly, he was clad in a volumnious cloak, shoulderguards over that and a hood draw over his face which shielded all features. Hell, it wasn't even sure he was male...) came in, and stopped a few feet in front of the huddle of humans.
"We apologize in advance for this, but there is no other choice. And you cannot say no. That is not an option." The man sounded pained, as if saying this hurt, but he had no other option. Maxwell shivered, eyes growing wide as he slowly started to realize what the man, whoever he was, meant. They couldn't mean...!? Only the armed dragons in the room kept him from trying to make an escape as the man continued, slowly.
"We do not ask for you to forgive us, but hopefully to understand why we do this. If there was any other way you, nor anyone of those before you, would ever have been brought here." Maxwell's insides froze as words of some language he didn't know spilled forth, taking up all space in the room and pressing in on him. He may not have been able to understand the words, but there was no mistaking the sudden expectant pause, one that clearly indicated that he had a choice to make. And he couldn't say no. Shivering, Maxwell looked up just as his mouth formed the words "I do." and caught the cloaked man's mouth moving soundlessly, silently pained; "We're truly sorry about this." That voiceless apology was what he latched onto as the change started.
And now we're all here, trying to defend against an enemy that seems tireless. Goddamn ********! Maxwell jumped back and narrowly avoided being speared on the giant claws of some youkai, managing to slice the thing's arm off in retaliation. This was a goddamn mess. With a hiss, blue eyes narrowed, Maxwell found one of the exploding shells and threw it into a gaggle of youkai, feeling certain satisfation as the shell exploded. If he couldn't take out his lingering frustration about being forcibly made into a Dragon on the Dragons, he'd damn well take it out on the Youkai.

Light curtains fluttered softly by the partly open windows in the large infirmary, pristine white cloth rustled as the owner of the garment began to walk down the wide aisle. Cream painted walls were broken off with mellow brown doors into the small, but clean and nice rooms for the patients. This larger part of the infirmary was mostly for recovery and rest but at the end of the hallway was a special set of doors. Painted white with bronze polished handles, this room was bigger than the others and had, unlike other rooms, been housing the very same individual for more than a year now, almost two...
Long, very light hair, which shone a pale golden when the rays filtering in through the windows bounced on the tresses, flowed in waves down the slender back. A pale-skinned hand reached out and opened one of the doors, the person walked through the entrance and carefully closed it after them. Light blue eyes gazed down at the unmoving body on the bed, still in that very same position, still with that very same expression... still unchanged. It would be nice to see the covers wrinkled just a little at one place or twisted at another, a change. However, it was always the same. Still, they had to keep believing, because as long as the bed's occupant had a regular flow of air in and out of their body and a heartbeat there was always a chance? always.
Tintlet let out a lingering sigh as Sabel remained still like a statue. He had been like that ever since that time they had met down in the inner sanctuary and he had almost died. They had almost lost him to Nadil and his henchmen but had been able to save him, but since then he had remained like this. She had tried to heal him, both she and Rune had tried together but the result had remained the same... nothing. The Spirit Tribe princess knew that he wasn't dead, nor doomed to forever stay in that state, but... What she did know was that either her old friend would die or he would recover and awake. That was it, and just the slightest sign of movement or awakening would mean he was in his way to recovering, and as long as the air in the room didn't seem heavy with death he wasn't dying. Only time could tell the youkai's fate.
((This is the reason why Sabel is an NPC... he's incapacitated! ^^;; Well, ahem, as you can see, he's hanging onto a thin one there. And I may tell you that this is based on the manga, but you won't see any of it until volume 23. ^^))

The darkness of the stairwell was absolute, but Gil trusted his feet to steer him right, and light would come further down, as he entered the now rebuilt sanctuary. For now, the only thing to go by was the bouncing click-clack of his heels, until light broke and left him in a chamber with almost breathtaking heights to the ceiling. The repairs were perfect and sturdy, if somewhat lacking in elegance because they had to been made as soon as possible. But the sanctuary was once again showing more of its former splendour than before, when it had been more or less totally wrecked.
Gil paused at the edge of the pool, staring at the altar and coffin on the other side blankly. He still felt rather uncomfortable walking so easily around, both down here and up in the castle... A soft sigh seemed to echo through the large chamber, tinted with impatience, and Gil tilted his head and finally walked forward, letting the water wet his boots unconcernedly. The coffin in front of the altar was dark, with heavy, swirling carvings in the corners. The chest wasn't the prettiest or the most valuable thing in this sanctuary, though. That was the fair young woman lying in the coffin, eyes closed as if in deep sleep and clutching the Wind Staff to her chest. Gil stood staring down at Cesia's still face for several moments before hesitantly kneeling down so he wasn't towering over her.
"... Sorry. Rath's still not here. The war... is going as it did yesterday." Gil didn't bother to raise his voice over a loud mumble, the words spilling out slowly and almost hesitantly.
*Umph. He's still such a kid. Always running off somewhere. Concentrate on the war, Gil. It... is more important, after all.*
Gil shrugged as Cesia's mental voice rang, soundlessly, out between the pillars and open space of the chamber, then got up on his feet again. She might not say it, but her concern for Rath could be heard in her 'voice'. And yet she was still putting the war before her own wants, and had agreed, both because of her heavy injuries and because it would help the dragons; to stay sleeping, tucked away and strenghtening Lykouleon's Light Shield around even the city now. It gave them all somewhere to retreat to and rest without having to worry about being attacked. He couldn't leave the fighting outside the city for too long though... No matter that he was off-shift right now, to rest. If something major happened, they'd all need to help.

"Brother, what do you make of this?" Purple-red eyes narrowed slightly in disgust at the demon the youkai twins were looking at, the red haired creature looked as though he was on fire. The silver haired woman tilted her head back and away a bit, not caring to hide what she thought, her brother just stared down at the member of Nadil's Army with his usual, cold orbs. Purple-blue eyes wandered over the skin that was spotted with red stains, looking almost like burn marks or like... like the blood was boiling beneath the skin, threatening to burst it to let some steam out. It wasn?t pretty. "Something's seriously wrong, that's what." He answered her before turning on his foot and walking out of the room, his long hair coiling behind him like a tail.

His time was now spent wasted for the moment at his desk, eyes trailing over reports and just general information. The battle had been going on for so long, and the raven-haired dragon had so much to worry about, so much to think about. The Dragon Emporer's health kept appearing in the back of his mind everytime those black hues trailed over the name 'Nadil'. A faint shimmer of red echoed in those deep orbs.
Why had he been forced to stay there, at the castle? It had been about two months since he had been on the field. What he needed to be doing was losing himself in the battle, drowning his mind in the blood of his enemies. His thoughts began to wander to the glimmer that shone when his sword was drenched in that crimsion liquid.
Suddenly his head shook as if to dispurse those thoughts as the Yellow dragon officer's words came rushing back into his head. It was somehting he told him before he left for the battlefields, to be where Lord Lykouleon could not. 'Watch over him, Teceous, I know you would much rather be in my spot then yours, but you are the Head of Security, you are the Black Dragon Officer, your duty is to him before your own. That's why I must leave in his place...'
A harsh sigh fell between the tall dragon's lips, his attention returning to overviewing the reports, although the smell of blood lingered in his nostrials from his previous thoughts.

The air was warm and fresh on his face as he came out of the doorway that led to the sanctuary and the sunlight was almost blinding in contrast. Gil's eyes adjusted quickly though, even now... Unbidden, an image of Ramganas rose in his mind, of sometime, he could not remember when; He had woken Gil up and flashed a light in his eyes, over and over again, just to see the pupils' play as they adjusted...
Shaking his head, Gil stretched up a hand and petted Fire's head; he preferred to have his dragon out, if only in its small form. It felt reassuring.
"I'm alright." The soft words slipped out quietly, and only someone who was close enough could have heard them, but then it was for Fire's silent question, and not any potential listeners that could be close.

A darna came trotting in on the castle yard in front of the large stone structure, its thick, green skin making it quite distinct against the light yellowish brown granite that lay on the earth to create an even surface. Pulling the hood of his big cloak down, Ruwalk took a deep breath and heaved it out. Finally... with this current little pause between the previous fight and the next he would get time to come back and look over the situation in the castle, and most importantly, Lykouleon, before having a little time to relax. The youkai never waited too long before sending a new hoard onto the continent to fight, and in the long run they probably would have succeeded in destroying the Dragon Tribe... if it had not been for the Dragon Emperor Lykouleon and Cesia. The youkai fortuneteller had been a great help to them, strengthening their Lord's shield to such a size.
Ruwalk let out a small, silent sigh as he dismounted the riding dragon, a dragon fighter taking the animal off his hands. The war was going better than it ever had before during these two years of constant fighting... but the price that had been paid. He shook his head lightly, no point in digging in that right now. The death number had to be reported, both dragon fighters and civilians, lucky there had been only one of the latter this time, and the status of the battlefield. Yes, this one had been one of their better fights... but it was far from good. Nothing was really good enough if they didn't actually win the whole war.
Shaking his head to clear it, Ruwalk stopped musing and began to walk instead, entering the castle. Now... Vierres was still out of the castle, further north where there had been a try to make a sneak attack on them. The Red Dragon Officer had dealt with that rather quickly though, and with a considerably small force too. He had done well and would probably come back soon, tomorrow or the next day. At the moment, on Ruwalk's part, it was to choose between changing clothes or wait and to report to whom first; Lykouleon or Teceous?

((*bounds in* whee Shall wait a bit to post 'Shen, til a few more youkai have posted LOL. So I can figure out exactly where he's gonna fit in ... ))
Rune rolled a shoulder back, wincing slightly as overworked muscles popped audibly. He might be able to heal just about anything, but that didn't mean that he couldn't get tired. Or sore. Or just -ache- ... in no way that could be healed.
The elf sighed as he finally walked into the castle, feeling some of the battle-tension leave him. Of course, it never fully left ... not anymore. But even this much peace helped. Once again, he silently thanked Cesia for her help in maintaining this sheild, his steps taking him toward his room.
He didn't stay there for long though, just long enough to somewhat clean himself up, getting the worst of the blood and dirt off. He combed fingers through his hair, which had been cut shorter for practicality. Frowing at tangles and dirt that he encountered, he debated actually taking a shower, but pushed the thought aside. Later. Just like everything else was later. Dammit.
Gritting his teeth, he shoved his thoughts aside and headed out of his room again ... and then to the infirmary. He invariably went here at some point when he wasn't out on the battlefields. And, as he had halfway expected, Tintlet was there when he got there. He walked over toward her, asking quietly, "How is he?"

The young woman turned around to smile gently at her lover. "The same as always still." She said, adding the last word in the last second, as if she knew that he would wake up one day instead of dying. The Spirit Tribe princess cast a glance over her shoulder at the doors leading to his room at the end of the infirmary corridor before turning back to look at the other faerie.
"However, I'm more concerned about how you are. You look terrible. Did you just get back?" She asked as she stepped up to Rune, light blue eyes shining worriedly at him as she reached out and touched his cheek with a hand.
((XDDD How sweet! *makes dramatic gesture, pukes and then cackles* XDD;;; Sorry.))

The hallways were shadowed anywhere there were not windows inside the castle, and the air was cooler, an "inside" smell instead of the green freshness of the outside. Gil passed the infirmary, the door open which gave a hint of gold and pale green. The Spirit Tribe royal couple was inside, so he skirted the open door, clamping down on Fire's snout and grabbing the small dragon as he was about to fly inside and greet Rune and Tintlet. He hadn't gone back inside the castle from Cesia's sanctuary to talk, really (besides, the preferred for that was Bierrez and he wasn't here right now)...
