~Llewellyn~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Valaria--- Valaria is small farming and fishing village on the eastern coast of Llewellyn. This is also the home of the famous pearl divers of Llewellyn. Though trade is not a big commodity of Valaria, they do make a pretty penny in the pearl market, for it is only on this small section of the eastern coast that the rare Illuminati pearls can be found. These pearls come in many colors, shapes and sizes but they have one aspect in common. They hold the amazing property to heal near any sort of wound or ailment. Though these pearls are extremely rare and are sold and very high prices.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nevista--- This large port city is the last stop for the merchant ships of the vast eastern sea. This city is known well for it's peaceful society as well as it's most valuable resource that draws many to this coast city. Within the sea worn caverns that dot the rocky coat an enormous mine of precious gems was discovered, though this was a trivial accomplishment when they discovered an even rarer material deeper within the caves of the coast. They found an ore called mithril which they now use to turn out the finest in weaponry and armor, as well as jewelry. Mithril is an incredibly hard material that makes near unbreakable blades and armor. The metal carries a glowing silver sheen that entices the eyes of many.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Seleveus--- Seleveus is a village of mainly farmers though they are more commonly know as being wild game hunters, that dare to hunt some rather dangerous creatures and as such they are the only large supplier of wild game on the continent. It has become a business for them that had kept the village afloat for this long. They also are rather proficient in the art of shipbuilding, and they do well enough in this industry, though the light craft with their slender sails made for speed pale in comparison to the bulky size of the ships made in Natori within the bottleneck harbor there.
******************* Landmarks
The Delphi River---This winding waterway nearly splits Llewellyn in half. Though it suppplies this already island like kingdom with fresh water.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lake Iniqua--- This ancient body of water supplies the Delphi River with fresh water to disperse throughout the kingdom. The river then travels south to it's delta that ends near the town of Selveus.
Night had fallen some time ago and most the Iliriya had retreated to the village of Selveus to enjoy their reprieve from travel, as they had just returned from Valaria. Even so, one of their number remained outside of the village to have a moment of solitude. Issildia Nevar stood on the western most shore Llewellyn, overlooking the vast ocean that gleamed with the subtle light of the moon. It had been little under a century since she had crossed that vast expanse to reach this land, leaving the kingdom of Larovia in the hands of Dasha Nevar, the last of her line that she had yet to defeat. Even now after existing for more years than she cared to recall, Issildia doubted even now that should could face the last of her line and reclaim her kingdom. Perhaps that is why she had departed from those lands, to wait out of Darsha's sight until she grew powerful enough to face him...or perhaps she was simply running from what she feared most. Still these thought merited little action as Issildia merely lowered her gaze from the crashing waves to the sand at her feet.
It had been four months since the Clan of the broken Sword had come to this land, and yet they had yet to accomplish conection with their neighbors on either side. Hykoshi didn't like that. Their only two cities, the port town of Vellgar, and their capitol city of Hykoshi were the only two settlements established. Hykoshi was flattered that the refugees would name the capitol after himself, but it wore off, as he was used to it. Both of the towns were small, and the first of the new wave of buildings were being constructed.
Hykoshi had gone alone to the west, to meet with his neighbors their. The only thing he knew was that they were there, and apparently were well-off. He smiled as he walked, the night smell of ocean telling him he was near. He looked to have gigantic angel wings as he walked, and they gave him light to walk by, as did the stas and moon. It was a perfect night for a stroll, and Hykoshi suddenly regreted not bringing his wife.
It was only little over an hour later that Kyrion Iroea, an man of Azerian blood glided down on ivory colored wings to report to Issildia. For a being that was near that same age as Issildia, Kyrion appeared to be wearing a rather startled expression as he quickly folded his wings and approached the leader of the Iliriya. "We have received word from the eastern scouts that an intruder enters our lands." he reported calmly, though an undertone of urgency could barely be sensed wavering through his voice.
"Has this intruder been identified?" she asked in a cool tone, devoid of any sign of worry or fear.
"We believe it to be Hykoshi Unigami, learder of a new group of settlers that entered the area around the Delphi river."
"Where is he now?" she inquired.
"A little more than two miles from Avarus, if not for his title we would have already dealt with him, but we suspected that you should be consulted on the matter first."
Issildia nodded, her gaze drifting over to Kyrion's own. "Increase the guard, I will intercept this Hykoshi character before he reaches the citadel." Kyrion nodded briefly before he turned away and without hesitation and leapt up into the sky, his wings opening to their fullest to catch an updraft before he set off towards the north of Iliryia territory to report to Avarus, the stronghold of their clan.
As he departed Issildia's eyes seemed to flare with the blue hue of the moonlight; she then crossed her arms as her form was suddenly consumed by a column of silver colored flames. When the flames dissipated after a brief moment, Issildia was gone.
~Reappearing in a similar fashion, Issildia now stood within the dappled shadows of the thinning forest that surrounded the Iliriya stronghold. Her hand rested idly on her blade Nyththirren. As she stood out of sight within the forest, the shadows along with the scant moonlight that filtered through the trees seemed to become warped around her form, causing lines between light and dark to literally disappear. It was a small yet unconscious show of her nature and of her abilities.
She made herself content to wait as she sensed the approaching aura of the intruder. Though at the same time the familiar presence of a number of her clan fellows could be felt; as armed members of the Iliriya slipped into the scene, covering every angle of the clearing, their forms made nearly invisible by the dark of the night.
Hykoshi sensed them well before he could see, or even smell them. He was lucky to be downwind, but it didn't help much. Even if he would have fought, they outnumbered him greatly. He pulled his swords from his belt, and held them in front of him. He walked to a few yards away from the edge of the forest, and yelled, "I know you are there, I am willing to let myself be taken, if I am not thought to be a fool." He threw down his swords, and raised his arms. "I will get to talk to your leader." He said coolly. He cracked a lopsided smile. Reminded him of when he first joined his own clan.
At his statement the shadow cast by a great oak seemed to well up like ink cast upon parchment, until it rose up and solidified into the form of a cloaked figure. "Pity...I did not anticipate you giving up so easily." Issildia stated solemnly as her gaze rose to settle on the intruder. With a subtle flick she cast back the hood of her cloak, revealing her face.
She then raised her gloved left hand for a brief moment to signal to her clan fellows that lay in wait. Without a sound a trio of celtarie archers dropped out of the surrounding forest canopy, while a duo of valtera warriors with their blades drawn approached from behind her.
"Tell me, why does one such as yourself tread so lightly in Iliriya lands?" she questioned.
"First of all, I don't fight at all." He said lightly, putting his palms up in fromt of him. " I have too bad of experiences with it. I only use it in rare circumstances where it is.... appropriate." He lowered his hands, and put them in his pockets. "Is there any reason that I should not tread lightly? to me, it seems we are ally by geography." He had a serious look in his eye, it seemed to measure her. "I am the leader of a refugee camp, trying to re-settle my people to the East. I came to talk of borders, trade, and things of the like."
"Yes, I know of your people Hykoshi Unigami, in fact we here may know more of such things than you may guess." she responded darkly.
"But if you wish to speak of such arrangements then let it be done in a more...civil environment. Will you permit us to blindfold you; In order to protect the location of our stronghold?"
"There is no need." He flashed a sly smile. "We, also, know more than you think." His eyes contained something fierce for a second, the old cunning Hykoshi was known for. It used to cut through any facade, but Hykoshi lowered his eyes. "Though, I must follow whatever rules you enforce, as I have pledged."
Issildia arched an eyebrow in slight surprise before meeting the gaze of one of the celtarie bowmen that stood behind Hykoshi. "Pmehtvumt res." she ordered in the little known tongue of her homeland. In response the celtarie archer lowered his bow and drew a blindfold from within his cloak and approached Hykoshi to tie it in place over his eyes.
"Whether you know such things or not." Issildia said as she turned. "I would prefer to err on the side of caution for the sake of my people."
She then turned toward the north, at the same time, motioning to the others to follow. Though as she did so, another group of armed members of the Iliriya dropped soundlessly out of the trees to take up a loose formation around Hykoshi and those that already guarded him.
~It was less than half an hour later that they came upon Avarus the citadel village of the Iliriya. It was a military style settlement that was slightly smaller than any town or village but held an allure of grandeur that would be difficult to find anywhere else. The people that lived within the stone walls of Avaruswere all family members of the warriors that served the clan. Their homes were constructed of the same pearly stone that the wall that surrounded the settlement was built of. And Avarus itself seemed to be a place that refused to quarrel with nature over land and space, so trees grew freely among the buildings, and streams were not locked up to become down trodden wells, like in many villages, instead they were allowed to go where they choose, granting Avarus some of an untamed atmosphere. At the center of the village was the citadel which served at the main base of the Iliriya. The building itself was built in the style of the city that the leader of the Iliriya had once called home, but after its destruction the legendary city had long since been forgotten. But now a piece of history had been reborn in the form of this citadel.
As Issildia along with Hykoshi and those guarding him entered the citadel, the celtarie archer removed the blind fold from Hykoshi's eyes.
Mayja Ic'. Issildia ordered. At this the others departedand all but Issildia and Hykoshi remained in the entrance way of the fortress.
"Welcome to Avarus, home of the Iliriya." she declared.
Hykoshi looked up, traced the lines of the cieling, turning to examine the room, then turned back to Issildia. "Nice place you have here. It smells of the Earth, perfect cover from enemies. He twitched his ears lightly. "And with the streams running through, it sounds like this place might just be a small settlement, should anyone be that interested in coming here." He pulled an aple from an interior pocket, a gift from his wife. He held it out to here. "Who am I to not offer you bread at your own table?" He smiled softly.
Issildia frowned slightly, "Do not trouble yourself with the trivialities of proper conduct. I would prefer that we attend to business as quickly as possible. Follow me if you would." Issildia then led him up a stone stair case to the right of the entrance hall, from there they transverse what seemed to be a labyrinth of hallways and stairwells that branched off into separate rooms. Finally they came to a simple unadorned door that Issildia opened without pause. The room inside was dominated by a circular table that had an array of maps and scrolls scattered across it. The stone walls were adorned with weapons of varying kinds, as well lit braziers that cast a flickering orange glow across the room.
She ushered Hykoshi to a chair at the large table. "I suppose now would be the time for introductions." she remarked dryly as she removed her cloak leaving her in a sort of dark leather armor that was constructed as to not impinge upon movement. "I am Issildia Nevar, leader of the Iliriya. Now that you know this," she said without pause. " Tell me...what do you seek to gain in coming here? We are not merchants nor can we grant a settlement of refugees anything of use, for I doubt that you have yet to require our services."
Ashram opend one of the many doors at the far end of the room and silently walked along the shadows until he made his way behind Issilida and spoke over his sholder in a wisper so the stranger couldn't overhear them.
"M'lady we are for our training session, do you wish me to start without you so you may deal with this matter?"
He looked over at the man standing in the room with cold eyes and waited for a responce from Issildia.
Issildia turned away from Hykoshi as Ashram silently entered the room.
"I'm afraid I will have to attend to this issue immediately Ashram...It seems that a new settlement has moved in to our east. The leader of this new group is here to discuss border and trade policy...so this may take some time." She answered resignedly in a hushed voice.
Ashram nodded and looked back at Issilida.
"I understand I will manage as best I can in your absence..."
He straightened up and was about to take a step back before smiling and saying with a slightly humorous voice.
"and try not to have too much 'fun' M'lady..."
With that he turned and headed back to the door where he came in from. Once outside the room he walked silently through the dark corridors, lit only by torchlight, and kept his jet black cloak around him. He hated not having his armor on, it made him feel weak and vulnerable.
He moved a hand under the cloak and gripped his sword. He knew he had nothing to fear, Avarus was one of the few places he could feel at ease in, but it never hurt to be cautious. As he made his way though the corridors he opened a door into a large training room filled with varied sorts of dummies and obstacle courses. Many of which had numerous bells and chimes attached to them.
Ashram made his way to the other end of the training room and talked to the lead instructor.
"Issilida will be unable to attend today’s training exercise. We shall continue on without her today... as always separate the students with the masters and continue on with yesterdays exercise"
