If I may, why should Christians read any of Fred Phelp's rants? It's not like they have any theological or moral value.

Look, even among the most right-wing Christians, Mr. Phelps is an aberration. He speaks for slightly fewer than 100 people, most of whom are related to him through blood or marriage; and even though his congregation is called the Westboro Baptist Church, it is not affiliated with any larger Baptist organization. He's a homophobe, anti-Semitic, anti-Catholic, and probably batsh*t insane. In short, his significance as anything other than an object of ridicule is about nil.

It is not our place to say who God does and does not love.
Matthew 7:1-2
Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgement you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you."

It is not our place as people of God to judge one another. Our job and mission is to share God's love and love him, and let him be the ulimate judge of everyone else.

What rubbish. The Golden Pillar of every religion is love thy neighbour as thy self (in their words). What, may I ask, is your view whimsical-im?

As I believe, as well. Well. Most mainstream religions. I've met some people who've made up their own religions.... and... ummm.... yeah.

There is quite alot of reason to believe that Fred Phelps is an agent provocateur (see here)

Anything that he or his 'church' says or does in no way represents the actions of christianity.

On the subject of Fred Phelps, thank God for Finnish hackers.

Asif i'm gonna readd all that.

I'll just base my reply on the 'God hates fags' statement

No he doesn't he loves them just as much as the Pastor in church or that woman who gave up her dream job to become a missonary ( just random examples). The only thing he hates is what they are doing. He hates that they are practicing they're sexuality as in gay relatioships and sex.

out of all the statements regarding this issue I think this one takes the bite. After all you can't judge people mainly because of their actions... other wise you yourself will be judged as well.

as for the whole God hates Fags thing it's an arrogant statement to make. Ignorant as well. You can be a christian and still be gay...God is like a father... he will love you no matter what you do even if he may not like it he'll still accept you regardless of what you're doing with your life.

I agree completely. And for the whole "god hates homosexuals" thing, I hereby refer you to ananel's thesis. There's a link to it under homosexuality and the bible, I believe.

Exactly. People for the most part I think just ignore him. I know I do. It doesn't do any good arguing with people like them.
