The small clearing near Sisika's teepee was quiet today. It wasn't like the place was visited very often. Chitsa had kept this place a secret since the day she found it as a foal, but it wasn't too difficult to find. It was often her place of sanctuary, to get away from the world and just to close her eyes and think. There wasn't much for her to think about, but today, her mind was plagued with many emotions and thoughts. She had left Roka awhile back, and she could feel that she wasn't quite the same. Though she did the same things, and nothing physically had really changed. Her emotions were riding a roller coaster right now, and she wasn't liking the feeling. Chitsa couldn't understand why she was feeling like this, and she hoped that she would understand soon. She didn't like being kept in the dark, especially about herself.
Chitsa was lounging underneath a tree and the mare had her eyes closed. Little bugs were fluttering around her and she just flicked them off with her tail. There was a soft breeze and Chitsa felt unusually exhausted. The mare's ears flickered softly and she gave a soft sigh.

Incoherent, unknown, passionate thoughts had filled the stallion's mind since their last meeting. Roka just couldn't quite grasp at what his mind was trying to tell him, but surely it must have been important. His mind did not regularly do this to him. He grunted in discontentment. He wasn't like his careless but carefree self lately. A small, yearning flame had built up within the chambers of his heart, kindled by the memories of the one soquili mare--Chitsa. Though he didn't know this, his soul told him that he had to meet the mystique-filled mare again soon, or else... He didn't know what or else there was. But it seemed like it would have been a bad omen if he hadn't caught up with her soon enough.
Flight had been his primary source of transportation. But this time was different. He took the time to become familiar with the trail leading to the place where the mare had said she would be found in. He carefully marked trees, boulders, and strange landmarks in his head. Perhaps in the future, the terrain would be easier to travel in if he had set mental markers on objects the first time he journeyed through. It did not take long for him to near the clearing. The clearing that Chitsa said she would be at was relatively closer than the place where the two had originally encountered. In fact, it was almost close to his own teepee residence.
While wandering around the clearing, he passed by many trees--but none held within their shelter the mare called Chitsa. Did he happen to wander far too off? Was he not where he had been told to go to? Had he been given misleading directions? A small glint of worry flickered within Roka. Maybe she wasn't here, after all... Maybe he came at the wrong time. But no, he must keep on trying, even if it took him all day; he'd find the mare that he was entranced by; he'd prevail... and perhaps... perhaps he'd find some answers today...
His hooves stopped in mid-walk. He thought he had heard a small sigh--a noise somewhere--but where was it? He anxiously looked around, peeking through bushes and stomping through patches of grass. It was awfully strange. He never usually did things like this; normally, he would take his time, enjoying the very simple pleasures of life, but now... It was as if something had seriously troubled him.

The poor mare glanced at the ground at the ants quietly. Oh how they had such a carefree life, but everything they did, did something for their colony. What a bother to have so much weight on their shoulders... Chitsa was kind of glad that she wasn't an ant, but this thought was only temporary. Her mind soon wandered back to the handsome wind soquili she had met awhile back. She yearned to see him again, yet she felt that it just wasn't meant to be. But... that couldn't be true. She couldn't possibly feel this way and have it not mean anything.
Chitsa raised her head slowly and took a deep breath of fresh air. It filled her lungs and she sighed. Oh how everything used to be simple and now, with one meeting, her life had become as complex as a spider's web. Contained in her thoughts, Chitsa didn't even notice Roka peeking through the bushes. She stood nearby, but continued to gaze out into the open. Her mind was too clouded with thought to completely be in reality at the moment.

...Perhaps it wasn't meant to be. Roka's body was tiring from the abuse it went through, both physically and emotionally. His figure paused momentarily, his expression discontent. His hooves would not budge any further--perhaps he would lie here for a moment; just a short little break wouldn't hurt... If the mare was really not here, then a little exploring after his rest would be satisfying. If luck was with him, he may even be able to stray near Chitsa's teepee.
Great wings stretched and blew a gust of wind as he clumsily lazed himself down on the ground. He made a significant thud sound as he plopped his head down with the rest of his body. He blew on the grass in front of his nose, pondering how many lives of insects he relinquished when he got down. His light steel blue eyes focused on each individual blade of grass as his mind drifted. "Chitsa...?" he whispered, mainly to himself, in a voice that seemed so desperate for something that it couldn't quite reach. His eyelids started to close automatically, like shutters operating on a timely schedule. Oblivious, he was, as his retiring body focused out from the life around him.

Finally, Chitsa tilted her head softly as she heard a thud nearby. The mare raised a brow, wondering what could have made that sound since she didn't see anybody. But then again, she was hardly in reality right now and more in her own dream world.
Cautiously, the mare wandered over to the bush that Roka was nearby and she heard something utter her name. She jumped back in fright, what was that? Ohmygoodness, what if it was a ghost? Was she being haunted? Chitsa glanced around skeptically wondering if there was anybody around but still she didn't see anybody.
She called out nervously, "H-Hello? Is a-anyb-body out there? If y-you're a ghost, I d-didn't do anything!" Chitsa continued to look back and forth wondering if she was just being silly or not.

Eyelids immediately popped open, and ears perked up anxiously. Roka got up within the blink of an eye, and peered around, half-alert. It sounded like someone was frightened. The voice... It sounded like...
"Chitsa?" he called, his voice more gruff and forceful than his previous whisper. He hesitated, thinking back. Where did the voice come from? Obviously, it was somewhere close, but he hadn't been paying that much attention. He snorted and let his instincts take over, rushing to the source of the nervous call. If Chitsa was in trouble, oh, he'd add some more trouble to the world...
He didn't realize how close he was to Chitsa. He took no more than a few steps until he had to stop immediately--his eyes closed in pure reflex, as he thought he saw a dark... something loom up before him. Was that... Chitsa? A tree? A ghost? Slowly, an eye peeked open, and he called out again, "Is that you... Chitsa? Is everything alright?"

Immediately after calming down, Chitsa recognized the second time her name was called. Ohmygoodness, is that... Roka? She blinked as a figure came into sight, cautiously, she began to walk towards it and she breathed a sigh of relief. Oh thank god. The mare couldn't help but chuckle to herself at how silly she was.
"Roka!" Chitsa galloped over to the stallion and immediately nuzzled him affectionately. "Oh my. Yes, everything is alright now. I thought you were a ghost or something." She gazed up at him with huge innocent eyes, she had obviously been terrified so seeing a familiar face was such a relief. She was actually surprised that she didn't recognize his voice the first time, though she shrugged to herself. Honest mistake... especially since she was called insane all the time.
Chitsa blinked slightly and then blushed though it was hardly visible but it was there nonetheless. She backed off, surprised that she had nuzzled him. "O-Oh. Sorry about that." The mare pawed at the ground hesitantly hoping that she wasn't bothering him.

As soon as Roka realized that Chitsa was here, his heart filled with great euphoria. It seemed so natural that he didn't question the feeling, and he began to step towards her--but before he could do so, she had approached him first. His mouth began to open to say something, but--
He paused, alarmed by the unexpected action. He never really let others get near him unless they were family--and even then, he would feel uncomfortable being so close to them. But this--it made his spirit jump. He recalled that when he was young, his mother and sometimes even father nuzzled him, but he didn't even like it then. And now, this... Time seemed to slow down for Roka, and his heart pounded rapidly. He felt dazed, but he enjoyed it. All this... from a nuzzle?
His eyes were about to close, and he was beginning to embrace Chitsa back, but he felt her leave contact too soon. A quizzical expression remained on his face as he was rendered speechless for a few seconds from the previous experience. "B-but... What?" He took a couple of steps towards her, concerned. "I... It's fine. But..." What was that? Why did it end so soon? He furrowed his brow frustratingly. Did he do something wrong? "I am... sorry," he said, managing a weak smile.
It was strange. Roka usually never felt too many emotions at once, or even at all, for that matter. And now, this? His gaze flickered to the skies above, as if answers would fall upon his head at any moment. A silent sigh escaped his mouth before he spoke again, "It is... I am glad to see you again, Chitsa..." He seemed to be at a loss for words.

Even Chitsa was surprised by her sudden actions, she generally didn't come in close contact with others, not that she didn't mind a nuzzle here and there from Sisika. Though... This seemed different, she actually really liked the feeling of him next to her. And she seemed to regret jumping away, though she didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable or anythign.
"Oh no. I'm the one who should be saying sorry. I guess I get startled easily." Chitsa continued to paw at the ground nervously, she knew she acted rash sometimes and it bothered her, but she couldn't help is sometimes.
Chitsa also felt very odd, she felt all jittery and light headed, but it felt rather pleasant. "I'm glad to see you too Roka..." Was that it? Was she just... 'glad?' No she was starting to think it was more then that. Her voice was still shaky because of her nervousness.

"No, don't be sorry..." Roka regained his composure and moved closer to Chitsa. "Tha--It is fine, I--I--It was pleasant. I... Thank you, Chitsa." He smiled coyly and looked away, avoiding her eyes. He was too embarassed to look into them--for the moment, anyways. Yes, it was a mistake. Nothing special about that... that feeling. Just a mistake on Chitsa's part.
"But, are you sure there is nothing wrong?" His head was still turned away, but his tone made it clear that he felt concern and worry for the mare. "It seems like..." He had noticed that Chitsa's voice sounded different--a little bit shaky, perhaps? But he didn't know how to word it without sounding rude. "...Like... there is something wrong?" He craned his neck closer so that it touched Chitsa's, and brushed once against the warmth, hopefully providing a source of comfort for her. "Whatever it is, I'm here. Don't be so nervous. How have you been..? Since we've last met, that is." He was already gaining back his confidence in speaking, and he was more than happy to be at Chitsa's side.

Chitsa continued to stand there as he moved towards her. Pleasant? What was? Her nuzzle? How curious, she thought she might have scared him because of that. The mare sighed to herself, she wished she could understand her feelings. She hadn't had to decipher anything so complex before such as these meetings with Roka.
She nodded softly, "Yes there's nothing wrong." She smiled softly, knowing everything would be alright now. It was kind of... nice to know that she had somebody here for her. Not that Sisika wasn't there for her, she just couldn't talk to her. "I've been well, better now that you're here..." Sometimes it wasn't all to great for her to be truthful because with that statement, she blushed vividly.

A frightened look came over Roka as he noticed a sigh coming from Chitsa as he approached her. What--did she not wish for him to come that close? Too late. He had made his last step, and his legs seemed to turn to stone. He wanted to move back in case the mare was uncomfortable with him so close, but... he just wouldn't budge. He softly snorted, half-amused, mocking himself. What's wrong with you? You've got company in front of you. "Stop it now, will you?" he mumbled to himself, unaware that he had accidentally said it out loud. His mind was still mangled with relentless, strange feelings that only seemed to come whenever he was around Chitsa, or whenever he thought about her... which was frequently.
"Oh?" he said coolly, finally turning back to face her. When he did, he noticed something strange about Chitsa--it wasn't strange, but her face didn't seem to have the same tone as it did before--was she..? He paused, gazing at Chitsa for what seemed like the longest time, when it was just a matter of seconds. What was he doing? He shook his head, catching himself, and smiled shyly. "That is... That is good. I am glad. I myself have been feeling a bit strange, lately. I don't know what it is. But... what makes you say that?" He lowered his gaze, slightly ashamed of himself. Usually, others didn't quite enjoy being in his presence, which is why he found a home and friend in pure nature instead. But then again, that may have been his fault, for he himself did not exactly enjoy the presence of many others... except Chitsa. But he was too unassertive at the moment to realize that and tell her. "Either way... I believe I am better now, too, with you..."
Truthfully, Roka did not know where his emotions originated from--he only had the slightest hint that Chitsa may be part of the reason, which is why he felt so free to tell her how he had been feeling. He was not usually one to be on top of things, but he did know one thing--well... maybe not.

Actually, Chitsa felt a little better that he had moved closer to her. Just a tad bit more safe then she was feeling before. How odd... And it wasn't just that he was taller then her either, since she had always been around taller soquili. The mare squeaked as he spoke, "Stop what?" The mare frowned unhappily wondeirng if she had done something.
The mare paused slightly, "It's good to hear that you're doing ok." She paused again at his question. "Oh I don't know. Things just don't ever seem bad when I'm around you..." Chitsa blushed vividly wondering why she had just said that, maybe it was true...
She gazed up at him with large innocent eyes wondering if what he said was true. She never imagined making anybody feel any better...

Roka blinked in confusion, not realizing that his mumbled words to himself had reached Chitsa's hearing. When he did realize it, he flushed and pawed the ground meekly. "Nothing..." He hoped she didn't take it the wrong way--he guessed he was just used to speaking his mind at times, which often led to misinterpretations. "You weren't doing anything, I was just, ah, it was me. Excuse me." Noticing her frown, Roka felt his heart drop. It was as if his whole world came crashing down on him. But... why? "Hey," he seemed to plead, "That doesn't look good on you. Smile. Please?" He then bent low and nestled his head on her neck, closing his eyes, letting his instincts take over, falling into a deep cuddle.
"I feel the same way, too, Chitsa," he said softly into her ears. His eyes were still shut, and, as his own neck was still connected with Chitsa's, he felt that what he was doing was... simply put, right. He felt that he was where he was supposed to be, and the world seemed to freeze over. Boy, had he been feeling a lot, lately. But this feeling... Was there a name for it? He lost himself in thought while embracing Chitsa. Was it... love? Normal Roka would gag at the thought. But at the back of his mind, something yearned for it, something yearned for the mare in front of him. And it prevented him from doing so.

As Roka spoke, she tilted her head at him and then began to giggle. "Really now? When do smiles look good on me too?" She grinned and shook her head. She still wasn't used to receiving compliments so it was hard for her to choose the right words to reply, and it usually left her in a rather awkward position.
Chitsa couldn't help but blink as he nuzzled her. Wow. Her heart soared up into the heavens, Sisika had nuzzled her a few times but she had never felt this happy before. Yes.... She had been doing too much thinking lately. But she felt so happy, how could something be wrong when it brought so much joy to her? The mare didn't even think of love, she was too naive to even see it. It was going to hit her much... much later...
