User Image Yakuti was bored, really bored, he had just recently come to the graveyard, only to be found and claimed by Mafa, and he had nothing to do whatsoever. She had pretty much told him the rules, and let him go. He decided that going over the rules in his head just to make sure he remembered them could occupy him for a bit, so away he went.

One. Stay out of the eastern cave. Two. Stay out of Mafa's den. Three. If you meet a lion, kill it, friendly fraternizing highly punishable. Four. Do what Mafa says. Five. Get yourself a den thats not near Mafa's. Six. Get your own food.

Well that was entertaining, for a bit... So he decided to get to work on number five, and began searching the graveyard for a suitable place to live and more importantly, to call his own.

Mweko heard a noise and spun around. "Wha-?", she stuttered, looking in the direction of a lone Hyena. Her heart sank. Another danger, another obstacle she had to face. She sank low to the floor, her white belly caressing the Savannah grass. Hopefully, she thought, he hadn't seen her.

User Image Yakuti sighed and continued looking among the piles of bones and rocks for something that even remotely looked like a shelter, and he heard it, a small "Wha-" followed by silence, it was deffinately a female voice, but it didn't sound like Mafa at all. He sniffed the air and picked up the scent, he had never smelled such a creature before, he could tell it was not a hyena, or lion or wild dog, what could it be?

He called out, "Whoever you are, I know you're there, so you may as well come out, I'm not going to hurt you." he said, still looking for a nice place to stay, but now listening hard for a response from this unknown creature.

((This is the elephant graveyard by the way, not much grass, just figgured I'd let you know.))

(Sorry! I forgot where we were. rofl )

Mweko shrank farther back, although found it hopeless. There were no shrubs here to hide in. She just had to be brave. Brave, she shuddered. The word reminded her of everything that could happpen.

"H-h-hello", she stuttered, looking over her shoulder for reinforcements, such as her mate, but nothing. She spun back, looking terrifiedly up at the creature as she sunk closer to the ground in fear. Maybe small talk would distract it from eating me?, she thought.

"What's your name?", she asked, trying to slick her upraised fur down.

User Image Yakuti looked up at the red creature, she seemed very nervous. He stopped looking around and walked slowly in her direction. He growled softly, he didn't know if he should be around a her, He couldn't tell if it was a lion or not. It didn't smell like one, but that may be because he was in the graveyard, not the southlands like last time, the location could confuse smells to Yaku.

She was, of course, a cheetah, but he didn't know that, as far as he knew, she was a lioness, and needed to be either killed or ignored. If he was friendly with a lion he would be punished, and it was not the most inviting thought.

"My name is Yakuti, whats it to you, lion?" He said coldly. The only way he would be able to hurt something is if he convinced himself that he hated it... So he snarled, but did not move any closer.

Mweko exhaled in relief as the Hyena stepped closer to her. From here, she could tell that it was only a pup. At first, it had appeared much larger. Her soft, red fur pasted to her slender body again as she smiled sweetly at it.

"Hello Yakuti", she said, still gasping in relief. "I was just wondering, is all. My name is Mweko", she paused flicking her tail, "Pardon me? I'm a Cheetah, not a Lioness", she said, grinning.

User Image Yakuti snarled as he listened to her answer to his question, but when he heard what she was, a cheetah, he stopped and looked confusedly at her. "You sure look like a lioness." Yakuti said, still using his angry tone of voice, "What are you doing in the graveyard? These lands belong to Mafa!" He barked.

"Mafa?", Mweko repeated, tilting her head. Uh, oh ... a pack leader? Mweko looked around nervously. Adult Hyenas were on the loose. They would hurt her.

"I am a Cheetah, I just don't have any spots", she said with a quick, fake giggle. "Why does it make any difference?", she asked, confused.

Mweko looked nervously in every direction. Still, nothing. Hopefully the downwinds would not carry her scent to any unwanted visitors.

User Image "Yes, Mafa, she's in charge here!" Yakuti snarled, still not believing that this thing wasn't a lion. He continued to walk toward this Mweko, "So, cheetahs have spots, do they? And you don't? A likely story for someone who says that they are one." He cackled, he was going to make his new master so proud by bringing her this lioness.

"Ha! It makes a difference because if I ever come across a lion, I am to kill it! Friendly association is highly punishable, and you look awefully skittish to be telling me the truth about what you are." He said, still aproaching, he bared his teeth and growled.

Mweko wanted to burst into a fit of giggles. A pup was trying to threaten her. Still, he seemed very serious about what he was talking about. She shouldn't try to mess with him.

"Atleast not visible spots. They are probably too red to tell, if any. Not all Cheetahs do, anyways", she smiled. "I'm always nervous", she whispered shyly. "I have been maimed many a time in my life", she said sadly, turning her head to an angle so the Hyena could see her blind, blue eye that had been scarred by her own mother.

"Kill it?", she asked, her eyes widening when the Hyena had said this. "Why would you kill a lion?"

User Image What if she was telling the truth? Yakuti was very confused, she seemed to know what she was talking about, but he didn't want to just let her get away if she was a lion... But if she was a cheetah, then he would feel awful... He still wasn't sure if killing lions was really what he should be doing, especially while he is so small...

As this feline showed her blue eye to Yakuti he felt a surge of guilt, she must be telling the truth, why else would she trust him enough to show that she is blind in one eye?

"Yes, kill it." Yakuti confirmed. "Lions don't belong here, these lands belong to Mafa!" He said forcefully.

"Fine, so you're not a lioness, whatever, I'll just go now, I need to find myself a den." He said as he began examining the bones and piles of rocks.

Mweko squinted her eyes at Yakuti almost motheringly. "You are off to find yourself a den? All alone?", she asked nervously. She hoped she wasn't sounding like she meant her actual question, where are your parents? It almost seemed like Yakuti was alone.

"I'll help you", Mweko said happily. She was in a good mood today. Already had she escaped fate.

User Image "Yup, by myself." Yakuti said indifferently, he knew what she ment, and he didn't care to answer her, he was used to being alone.

"Wait, what?" Yakuti said in a confused voice, why would she help him? Especially because he had pretty much threatened her only minutes ago... Then the answer came to him, it was because he was young, everyone thought he needed help because he was "just a child" well, everyone exept Mafa, she gave him his responsibilities and didn't try to help him in the least. Thats why he liked her, even if she did kind of scare him.

"Alright, you can help if you want." He said with a shrug, he didn't see why he couldn't use the help, he couldn't find anything at the moment anyway. "Just try to find a place big enough so that I can I can sleep there and keep food there if I have any left over from a hunt. And make sure its at least kind of sheltered."
PostPosted: Tue May 30, 2006 12:14 pm

Mweko laughed slightly, listening to his instructions. "Let's go, then", she said, flicking her tail. "You wouldn't mind leading me away from this Mafa, would you?", she asked nervously, hoping the pup wouldn't trick her into following him into the middle of the pack's camp. Just in case, she thought, she'd keep her senses alert. She wanted to help this Hyena.

"Why do you want to live here, anyways?", she asked nervously, glancing in every direction as she started trotting along with him. "It's just so spooky around here", she said, shuddering at the sight of bones.

User Image Yakuti shrugged, "I don't know where Mafa is, but to be safe, just don't go near the big skull in the middle of the graveyard, thats her den. Oh, that reminds me, my den can't be too close to hers, she doesn't want me or anyone else lurking nearby."

Hm? Why would he want to live here? Good question... "I guess I like it here because I get to do pretty much whatever I want, and I've always found myself kind of drawn towards bones." Yakuti said, sniffing around in an old ribcage if a deceased elephant. It was roomy enough, but he would prefer that his den be covered. or something, it was like being caged when he was in there. He came out and continued to sniff around.
