He could feel it, the pulsing of his heart as it pushed towards growing to his juvenile stages. Naraka had a lot of time spent with his mother, plotting away just how he would use his age advantage for the pride. He had been taught to be stronger, to be faster and smarter; all lessons begining when most were playing games. Ruthlessness was taught to him under a mask of indifference, and his power was taught to be through his mind. In essence, Naraka was slowly blossoming into the personality of his mother.
The question was, was that a good thing?
It did not matter in the young cubs opinion, for either or, he would keep the strength in his family just like his mother had, and slowly work towards strengthing the pride. None were worthy unless they could prove it, and in his mind only one cub had proved strength. Yet, she didn't have the control.
"She will probably be killed anyways..." He murmered from outside his den, bringing his thoughts aloud as his dark paws played with the sands. The stone did nothing but make him feel like he was being cooked alive, so constantly the large cub was moving. His eyes had become cloaked with steel, his face masked with one tone. It was clear that Naraka had learned his lessons, and was ready to take on the world, one word at a time.

Outstretched in the shade of a boulder - that jutted up out of the sand like a great claw - was Ripuka; one of the newest members to return to the desert. Her body was of a brilliant red that gleamed under the sun and as she snoozed in the late afternoon rays one could hear her gentle breathing, as rhythmic as the beating of her heart.
She looked older than she was - poor girl - for her time as a rogue had seen her treated badly and though one could not see it her skin beneath the fur - that was thinned in places - was marred with scars from many battles. The most obvious injury was the scar across her right eye which had left her blind on that side. It was this disability that had brought about her paranoia.
For with age the beginnings of insanity had set in maybe due to heat stroke or maybe because of the ordeals she had suffered. Possibly both. And yet her fangs were stained with the blood of those she should have loved, for she had killed them to protect the honour and tradition of the pride. She would not break the teachings of her parents again, she had proved it in the past and if necessary she would prove it again.
Her legs twitched with the signs of a dream and then she fell still again, well except for the slight twitching of her fiery-tipped tail.

Having grown quickly bored with his games in the sand, for every day of doing the same thing could do that to a cub, Naraka decided instead to search across the lands, thinking of something else as his deep ruby eyes scanned the sands. His mind wandered back to the many nights he and his brother spent speaking to Baku. The strange 'firekin' spoke of how many gods besides Finar-si lived in the world. There were even other Firekin gods that have been forgotten, if he could even believe it.
Yet, Nuri always told him that he should seek out advantages over others, and the advantage of having many gods' favor over just one added up just right. Naraka knew, if he got the other blessings of the other gods, he would become as strong as his mother wished him to be. And to please his mother was his main goal, becaue his mother was a true Firekin in his eyes, and what he always wished to become.
Suddenly, his thoughts were cut short as a strange color stood out against the sands. Trailing his eyes back to where the red caught his eye, he took note of an adult that he had never seen before. The pelt shone of the fires of the sands and blood, yet it was clear that this firekin never was a part of the pride since he was born. A low growl ammiting a that idea, he trailed his gaze to study her form before deciding it was best not to pick fights. He could brood, but to verbally attack an unknown opponent was just as dangerous as charging into a battle without his claws.

The muscles in her jaw quivered as she dreamt of snarling at her foes. Her body tensing as she prepared to make a pounce and then--
--And then the growl.
Ripuka's reflexes were as sharp as they had been in her early days of life and the instant the sound hit her ears she had rolled onto her belly and had pushed herself up onto her paws in order to swing her head around to let her good eye focus upon her attacker.
To her relief - or maybe annoyance - there was no 'attacker' in fact it was simply another one of the firekin cubs. Yet this one seemed older and much bigger and held an aura of power about him even at his young age.
A lip curled up at one side as she gazed down at him with her one piercing golden eye and after a moment she let a growl of her own roll off her tongue.
"Did I give you reason to growl at me little lion of The Blood?"

The warm day was particularly more kind, to the more rambunctious and soft hearted eldest son of Lord Kavuasi and huntress Mpeka. His blue eye's scanned the horizon of his homeland happily as his white tipped paws padded against the golden sand's, only for him to chuckle and giggle happily.
He hadn't yet tasted the sting of anothers claws, nor the bite of someone's word's. Then, he was just still a cub.
However this didn't rattle him and he enjoyed his youth while it lasted and he sang happily as he did.
"Oh the sun shine's brightly down upooooon uuuuuuus! Down onto our golden home pridelaaaaands! And so proud are we too live! In this place where no one can! In the desert full of rocks and grass and saaaaaaaaand!"
He had deffinatly picked something up from either of the parents...but his voice was all his. In all it's childish goodness.

All he could say in response was nothing, his eyes darkening as a smirk crossed his features. Not giving her the satisfacting of a retort, he instead just lifted his cheek lightly and turned away, dismissing the figure with a flick of his tail as a new issue became apparent. There was a voice singing that caused his head to spin.
"What in all hells?" He murmered darkly, clearly having a mouth to accompany his attitude. Ears flattening against his skull in effort to shut out the sound, he merely rolled his eyes on sight of who bounded up.
"Would you just shut up." He said darkly as soon as the younger cub came closer. With a dark glare, it was apparent that he still held some emotions, a trait form his fater. Anger, Annoyance, and Indifference are what could easily explain this cub.
And currently, Naraka was in a fight between all three.

Ripuka snarled. She despised cubs and put up with the Firekin ones simply because they were her kin. She respected those of her pride for in her eyes they were all equal - all of them descended from the great Finar-si who had given them life. Yet obvsiously this one had not yet learned respect, his parents must not have gotten around to teaching him as of yet.
It was then that the high-pitched sound reached her ears and with another louder growl turned her head to gaze upon the appraoching cub. Oh...how wonderful.
She decided that for now she would say nothing and instead moved to lay down upon the sand, watching the angry cub through narrowed eyes. Atleast that cub showed Firekin spirit. That other one who apparently thought he was some sort of bird...well...he was a disgrace.

The white femme wandered again, she avoided her family as much as she could, her brother, she would pay him back, the good for nothing creature.
Her golden eyes flickered across the sands and the sound of voices interested her. Turning her direction slightly, her light coloured paws made their way towards them. Her brown coloured ears flicked back as she saw the strange cub along with her cousin and the femme she had met when she had been dunked in the water by her father.
She watched from afar for a while, her golden eyes watching all three of them. She was happy where she was, she knew that she would be ridiculed for her white pelt, her father had told her it was rare and made her special, but she could feel his worry, she wasn't special but odd.

The cub paused in his song and watched the other male cub, his blue eye's blinking slightly as he stepped back a little. However at a closer look, he remembered the sight of the one who had attacked his younger sister and a frown immediatly pasted his face.
"Why don't you come and make me!" He retorted, ears flattened back as he glared at the other cub, setting his paws far apart as he tried to look as fierce as he could.
Which unfortunatly wasn't enough as his baby blue eye's sparkled with childish playfulness, only to make the rest of him seem weak.

Eyes narrowing once again at the relentless male, Naraka ignored once more the adult. Finding the contentment of angering the female enough with that simple action, he folowed his mother's advice and let his actions speak louder than his words. At least, his silent actions.
It wasn't too hard to ignore the adult, considering he knew what would happen if he decided to speak with her. A cub smaller then him he could take on, but it was his brother who had the skills to fight those larger. Ra was nowhere in sight, so Naraka just relied on his wit, and his soon needed strength in dealing with the cub below him. At least, below in height.
As his red eyes scaned the younger cub, Naraka was unable to notice the female farther away, his attention distracted. Though, it was not really an issue less the younger ones wish to mess with him. He was old enough to have a nice age difference to be considered an elder. Had he been born a few weeks before the others, he might not have had the advantage, but now. All he could find his face doing was let out a nice slow smirk.
At the cub's retort, Naraka's smirk grew as his eyes darkened.
"Sure." He said darkly, "Why not." And with that, he moved in for the strike.

(( sorry for the crappy post, Gaia ate my first one u_u ))
A lip curled up in amusement as Ripuka watched the bully approaching the sing-song cub, ears twitching forwards as she observed the actions of the youths.
The one who had awoken her had Firekin spirit, yes, but he lacked the respect of his kin and of tradition which made him expendable - in her opinion anyway.
However the new cub surprised her with his reply and she regaurded him with interest. Slowly she crossed her forepaws and used them to rest her chin upon, good eye settling upon the smaller cub. He had a few personality flaws but now she could see that the trait of the Firekin had not been completely lost in him. He was prepared to fight one bigger than him and for that she approved. He would grow up to be a good Firekin one day, of that she was sure.
As her good eye scanned the dunes she noticed yet another had crept closer - the white cub she had met briefly before. She too would be a good lioness one day.
Ripuka had half a mind to gather the youbngsters and educate them in the ways of traditionherself. Though she wasn't sure whether she'd have the patience for such a chore. Either way it would be an interesting idea to play with.
For now se simply lay still and watched the cubs, though if things got out of paw she would step in and stop the brawling.

The younger male's eyes widened and he moved back a little, he was actualy going to fight this male? He'd never fought in his life, or at the least he'd had a playful scramble with his younger brother, but nothing other then that!
Damu gulped slightly, however as Naraka moved in for the strike, he hopped out of the way. Hoping to not get the full blow of the damage atleast.
While his chubby, cub paws tried to swing at his while he flopped clumsily to the ground because of his foolish hop.

High up on the top of a sand dune, Khepri watched the interaction of those below her. The three cubs and the larger adult female seemed to be a little tense around one another, though her idiot brother Damu was singing. Rolling her eyes, the female slowly pushed her legs under her and tapped over the ground on her white tipped paws, her scars glistening newly in the sunlight.
Khepri couldn't be considered a mean female, but she was gruff and she was smarter than the cubs she'd met so far, including those of her own family. She rarely put up with things from anyone and would rather just sit back, relax, and watch the idiocy continue around her. However, this time the cub she'd met before, the one that had tried to kill her with his brute strength was down there. What had he learned? Or at least she wondered what he'd learned in the time she hadn't seen him.
Her lips curled in a smirk as she came to a standstill beside her larger brother.
Idiocy, take them all down.
Using one of her paws, she knocked her brother from his feet by shoving his shoulder roughly, sending him sprawling to the sands. The strike that had been meant for her brother missed harmlessly and she raised an eyebrow at Naraka.
"Still usin' all tha' brute strength Ah see." She said in her broken and harsh sounding voice. ninja

The white cub just watched for a while before another went down. Instead of going towards them she creaped behind the lioness, not hiding, just watching. She didn't speak either, her golden eyes watched the two.
"Pathetic..." She whispered it under her breath, if any heard it only Ripuka would have as she was the only one close enough to. She licked at her lips and laid down, her tail swaying from side to side.
She didn't know two of these cubs she guessed the female was her cousin from what she had heard of the other two litters, one had only been a male litter. So this was another of her cousins, she would have to watch her before making a judgement.
