Over the mooing of cows and the bleating of goats in the small fenced in pasture, one distinct angrier sound could be heard. The ram was angry. More than angry, it was furious. Those little ropes that marked off certain areas were there for a reason, and Jack had crossed one, winding up right in the center of a herd of sheep. Now, sheep weren't known to be particularly agressive, that is until you started waving a knife in their faces, which is exactly what the boy did.

His older cousin Teagan had dropped him off at the zoo with the hope that being around the animals he seemed so interested in would calm him down. As an added bonus, Teagan hadn't stayed to tag along. They rarely did. Jack was what some would call the black sheep in the family. Though at this point, even the sheep was mad at him.

The ram snorted and lowered its head, and Jack retorted the same. He was stronger than this thing, a Wiltshire Horn if he wasn't mistaken which he never was, and he was smarter too. Deciding he wouldn't let it off without a fight, he spit on the ground to provoke it, "Come an!"

The animal started to rush at him but was quickly stopped by a zookeeper who also 'kindly' lifted Jack out of the pen and told him in a rather loud, annoyed tone to "Keep out." So much for hands on learning. He stayed around the petting zoo area, reaching over to touch the goats occasionally, though he was looking for something a little more interesting.

"Boring."

"Yes, Caz, I heard that already."

"Vewy boring." The young, male voice spoke again, with a slight lisp. It belonged to the small boy - roughly five in human years - that leaned against the fence near Jack, looking smugly upward with dark, intelligent eyes. Golden-tanned arms crossed over the chest of his rather normal-looking T-shirt. "Vewy, vewy boring."

A few feet away, a young woman garbed in what looked like a cross between a dress and an Indian sari glowered down at the boy, lip curling with an expression of veiled fury. Elegant and obviously graceful with each movement, she was just as obviously NOT happy to be here.

And even less happy with the blonde infant settled in her grasp, fussing and waving arms decorated with green vine tattoos.

Jan, all tall, androgynous, and grown was making her way through the zoo, not particularly pleased with the sight of animals behind bars. Why had she come here? ... Because... Because she too was caged. Her wild, young joy had been captured and chained, and a solemn creature was left in it's place. She almost walked straight past the petting zoo, until she realized...

"Caz. Yvette."

Those were Rune's. And her's, in a way. Or, rather, she was Yvette's? And the boy... Who was he... He looked familiar... Unconciously, her hand lifted to touch her scar, a single brow lifting as she remembered.

"... Jack."

He'd cut her face open, and she'd thought it was cool. She'd kept the scar on purpose.

Giving one last snort to the ram that now happily roamed the pen, Jack pulled the sleeves of his jacket up and turned around. He leaned back against the wooden fence, bracing himself with his hands just incase the creature decided to rush it and knock him over. He had heard people talking, and now someone was near him. Suspiciously, the boy looked the unfamiliar faces up and down, taking a while before he recognized just one. That girl he'd gotten in a fight with, whatever her name was. She seemed bigger now, but that might have just been because he was feeling particularly small.

He straightened his back and puffed out his chest, scowling as he tried to figure out why someone would come to the zoo if it bored him. Sure, he might not get along very well with the animals yet, but he liked seeing them at least. Deciding he couldn't figure it out on his own, he asked. "Why-dya come then?" He grunted at the boy, trying to look mean and proud despite the layer of dirt and God knew what else spattered over him.

Caz glanced up at the boy beside him with interest, not really caring about the dirt. A glance at the woman - now struggling to wrestle her hair from the baby's grip - and he grinned slightly, showing teeth. "I like aminals." He explained, slightly wicked. "But Sisha's a jerk, an' it makes her mad when I whine. So I bug her."

Flicking a look at the ram, he tilted his head to one side. "How come they made you get out?"

Yvette, meanwhile, had paused in her small tantrum the minute she heard a familiar voice. Looking up, she recognized her fellow Sin instantly. "JANI!!!!" She screamed, kicking and squirming as she held out her arms. Tears stood out in her eyes, and she wailed, ignoring Sisha's irritated attempts to stop her wriggling. "JANI!!"

Jan felt an irrational anger fill her at the sight of those tears, and she gave Sisha an intimidatingly icy look, the woman not being much taller, afterall.

"Tch."

Without waiting for permission, she took Yvette from the older, bitchier woman, and held her close, stroking her small back and hair soothingly. Why were Rune's children with this... Thing?

Still, as if Sisha wasn't worth bothering with, Jan tore her half-closed eyes from the woman and instead moved them to Caz and Jack.

"Cuz Adults ern't too bright."

At the mention of him getting kicked out, Jack spat over his shoulder into the pen, giving a little snort. "Cause that b***h hates me," he reasoned, nodding his head to the now smiling woman letting kids in and out of the pen, "An' cause I was fightin the sheep." In retrospect, it didn't seem like the brave, tough venture that it had at the time, but he still believed he had been in the right.

"Nah, they're not," he agreed, shaking his head. The smaller girl's crying was grating on his nerves, but he knew that if he got angry again they might throw him out of the zoo completely. So instead of yelling at her to shut up, he simply grit his teeth and looked Jani up and down, "You got bigger." Blunt and to the point, just his style.

Caz nodded, understanding. "Fightin' daggons is better." He offered. "Sheep aren't as much fun." Glancing up at Jani, he grinned a bit. "Almost as big as Chloe now."

Yvette, meanwhile, stopped crying almost instantly, cuddling herself into Jan's arms with a small cooing noise. Good, she was away from the nasty woman. Like Caz, she HATED Sisha - and having been separated from Rune and the rest of the kids in the press of people, she was angry and more than a little frustrated. "My Jani." She glanced down at Jack with interest. "Who you?"

Those serious brown eyes moved reluctantly from the older woman's face to Caz, momentarily lightening to show her pleasure in the thought of her friend. She adored Chloe, but she hadn't seen her since she'd been a toddler. Nodding in response to his comment, she extended the nod to also be one for Jack, her gaze sliding over him.

"Bigger than you."

A flash of white teeth in either a grin, or a warning, depending on how you interpreted in, and the girl absently stroked Yvette, her head turning to Sisha.

"Ef ya kinnot 'andle 'er properly, then dun do et."

That, was clearly a warning. Not Jan's usual behavior. She'd been feeling odd since her growth.

Jack spit on the ground in front of him, being a bit defensive of his small size. So what if she was bigger, he could still hurt her if he wanted. There wasn't any reason to now though, and as much as he wanted to just go at her, he knew he couldn't. His therapist had told him that if he got angry at people for not really doing anything eventually he'd start getting angry at himself. She was a crackpot, but she was right about that. He didn't get angry at himself for getting angry. He got angry at himself for getting caught and wasting time.

"So." He snapped, then turned his attention to the strange little one that had been making so much noise, "Jack." Straight and to the point, there wasn't any reason for him to tell her anymore than that, that's all she'd asked anyway. Maybe that woman at the petting zoo gate would take a break soon. He still had a score to settle with the ram.

"Jack." Caz repeated, nodding slowly. This kid seemed kinda fun. "I'm Caz." He grinned suddenly, glancing back at the petting zoo. "Want the lady to go away?"

Yvette glanced down, then up at Jani again and cooed happily at the petting. The boy was kind of odd, but she was with Jani, and she trusted the potato Sin with pretty much everything. It wasn't as though Jack had attacked her or anything, either. "Jack like us?" She asked innocently, snuggling closer to Jan. She hadn't met a new Sin in quite a while.

Sisha looked caught between fury, embarrassment and her usual disgust. For a moment, she hadn't even been certain just who in the hell had picked up the little vine-drawn brat - though frankly, she didn't much care, as long as that rat was out of her hair. On the other hand, Rune might kill her for losing one of the dirty little rugrats (though how in hell the woman could tell, she had so many) . . . and it rankled her pride that Jani could calm down Yvette so quickly. Especially after a solid half-hour of screaming, where the high noble had tried everything she could think of to shut the brat up. "Who in the hell are you?" She demanded.

"Jan."

Also short and blunt, like Jack. She'd become more so as she'd grown, and she didn't like this woman. The way she said the word made it seem like if Sisha didn't know who Sjajan was, then the woman wasn't worth much. Turning away from Sisha dismissively, she answered Yvette's question, moving closer to Jack.

"Ya. Jack's sin."

But did he LIKE them? That was an entirely different question. Hah.

"Naw really."

Although, none of the other kids would probably have a clue as to what she meant by that.

This was becoming just a bit boring. If only he could get to that sheep. Glancing over, he noticed that the woman gaurding the gate was looking away. "Alright," He cooed, hopping up backwards to sit on the wooden fence. Perfect chance, he wasn't going to let it get away from him. "Anyone wanna come along?" He chirped, a wicked smile settling over his face. Not that he was actually going to wait for them, hell no. He could lose his chance if he waited.

"Here we go!" He yelled, flipping back over the fence. The motion got him a few splinters in his hands, but he didn't back. As soon as his feet touched the ground he took off running, headed straight for the ram that now had its back turned on him. Rule number one, never turn your back on an opponent. That was stupid.

Sisha looked fit to blow, but Yvette burst into giggles, as though Jani was the funniest thing in the world. "My Jani." She smirked at the older woman, looking for just a moment like the spitting image of her older sister Mirelle. "Bestest Sin. One bestest." She amended quickly. Jani, Flitch and - well, that was her bestest list. Though Ani, Kilah and Cameo all had places of honor.

Caz blinked, stunned for a moment as Jack vaulted the fence, before a fierce grin lit his own small face. All right! He knew better than to expect Jack to wait for him - Rune's family was well-trained with fighting, and the first rule, "attack when the opportunity presents itself," had been drilled into him since his adoption. With a yelp of glee, he hopped to the top of the fence, following on Jack's heels as the Sin ran for the Ram. This kid was awesomely fun, almost like Stevie!
