And don't bother posting if you don't know about how Mettalicrap backstabbed Dave waaay back. If all you know about Mustaine is what you saw in Some kind of Monster, then I'm going to respectully ask you to leave. I want to delve into topics deeper than just sounds in this thread.
I think Megadeth, especially Dave's vox, is like fine wine. Preferred by those who are loyal to it, and after you accept the taste, it makes James just taste bland. His voice is interchangable with just about any other metal singer. I have much respect for Dave's wicked, slimy vocal ABILITY.
Plus, selling their old friend out has really taken its toll. The music sucks, their hardcore fanbase has deserted them, and they have no creative spark left (that was Dave's job).

i think Hetfield really has a good voice that tops many metal singers
but dave still tops him in vocals and Megadeth owns Metallica in lyrics, creativity, technical skill, and originality

Metallica? More like Selloutica if you ask me. Megadeth released more good albums than Metallica, in my opinion, because all of 'tallica's albums during the 1990's sucked, while all of Megadeth's albums (minus Risk, but every band has that one cd that's not that great) kicked a**. Anyways, those are my two cents about this subject. Just a warning, but arguing with me about Megadeth is not a good idea (especially if you're trying to say metallica are way better), because i'm a bit of a Megadeth loyalist.

I've heard the story about metallic turning there back on Dave
That being said I actully have only heard one album from metallic, Master of puppets and 1 song by Megadeth, Symphony of Destruction. And just based on that one song I prefer it Megadeth to metallica.

From what few Megadeth songs I've heard, I prefer Metallica. I'm getting 3 Megadeth albums, so should be able to educatedly say.
Either way, both bands have apparently sold out (Metallica moreso), look, Megadeth are on Roadrunner Records now. rofl Poor Megadeth fans.
Also, I love what I've heard of Marty Friedman's guitar work so far.

I think really it matters that Metallica sold out before Megadeth and Megadeth put out much more quality material than Metallica
Rust in Peace is awesome Master of Puppets is awesome Megadeth is still better (now and overall)

personaly, i think that this is a very controvercial topic...but a good one! i love Metallica and always will...and its not the actions of a band that make them good, its their music! and if they want to sell out, then who cares? as long as i get to listen to their great music, then i dont care!! and i think Metallica has alot better lyrics than Megadeth ever will...but i still like them both!! but Metallica will beat Megadeth in my book anyday!!

Yes, but have you listened to St. Anger and compared it to The System has Failed? I think you'd see a MAJOR difference in talent; one aiming towards the Megadeth side of the equation. That album was totally shite. But, if that's REALLY how you feel, then I say To each his/her own.

I honestly think that Megadeth are the better musicians. nothing is going to change my mind. Oh, a little known fact: Did you know that when metallica was first starting out, James Hetfield didn't even know how to play guitar? He was being taught by (get ready for this) DAVE MUSTAINE!!!! Therefore, Mustaine is ten times better, because he knew how to play LONG before Hetfield did.

After Metallica made the mistake of kicking Dave out, Dave pledged to be faster, bigger, and more badass than Metallica...and by god he accomplished that with just his first album. "Mechanix" makes "The Four Horsemen" sound like a childrens nursery rhyme. Dave obtained a quick fanbase just because he declared war upon metallica and he has most certainly kept his fanbase because he has consitently put out awesome albums...and his upcoming album, "United Abominations," promises to be an even bigger step back to Megadeth's old sound...Megadeth all the way!

For all their whining, backstabbing, and recent suckage, I still enjoy Metallica more. Those first four albums still knock me flat. If the poll were "since 1995," though, Megadeth would clearly win.

I'm a bit upset with the line-up, though. As much as I love Megadeth, it ain't the same without David Ellefson cry But as it is, UA should be a really good album, and i'll be looking forward to its Halloween (almost said Helloween xd ) release.
