I absolutely loathe them. What do they do? Take a bands most popular songs (when usually the BETTER songs are less popular) and put them together on one CD, so instead of getting a full album with that "album" vibe (You know, it feels like a whole piece of work) you usually get a disjointed piece of s**t, with mediocre songs, or at least ones that are below the band's usual standard of excellence.

Well, i would think that the most popular are the best! but i do agree that they don't have a 'vibe'.

Wrong. Most popular usually means catchy, lifeless crap that a band put out just to appeal to the mainstream audience and isn't representative of their best work. If you want to get into the popular = best theory, you should be listening to s**t like Britney Spears, NOT classic rock. xp

There are exceptions of course; for example, Rolling Stones and The Beatles had good singles, but good material on the albums, too. The same thing with Black Sabbath, although they really hated the kind of fans and success that Paranoid brought them.

I, personally think they are quite cool. I like them. I have a lot of Greatest Hits CDs. That doesn't mean I'm any less of a fan. It means I liked all of the songs on that certain CD, so I got it.

When i get a greatest hits cd, it's usually if i find a new band and just want to listen to a few of their songs. If i like it, i'll usually go get another album

When i get a greatest hits cd, it's usually if i find a new band and just want to listen to a few of their songs. If i like it, i'll usually go get another album Albums do have a better vibe. However, Greatest Hits CDs are good if you can't find a certain album because they haven't gotten a new shipment yet, and you are craving for a new album. That satisfies your craving for a while.... sweatdrop
