How do you all feel about this topic?
I was not oppossed to the killing of the Czar and Czarina, and possibly their daughters the Grand Duchesses. But was it right to have killed their 13 year old Child Alexi? This is something I have been debating myself since this thread in ED and I'm torn by which way to go with it.

the white armies were coming, if they had retrieved any of the romanovs, there would have been a common standard for all the white armier to group around(until then, it was just a bunch of generals and nob's waging their own wars), luckily, they didnt, so they all remained disparet little armies in the wilderness of russia who were soon crushed by the red army domokun domokun domokun YAAAY heart

Some-what yes, his disease could have easily killed him and it was important for the Reds to eliminate all members of the family so they could not call for support (Or demanded to receive support)

Well I must lay blame on his mother.
Alexi's disease caused his mother, Alexandra, to seek the support of Rasputin, which would increase the political influence of Rasputin.
Also the disease (Hemophilia?) could have easily killed him,
and had been given to him by his mother who carried it.
HOW WE SHOULD HAVE DONE IT

After reading a short book called July 16, 1918
I must say that we Reds had executed them rather inhumanely,
(Shoot and Stab them repeatedly because of their heavy clothes/jewelry)
when we should have just hanged them or given them poison.
All though I see the killings as neccesary,
I feel some sadness in actually reading about it.
Oh well,
you can't wipe blood away from history.

I could go both ways on this one.
Was it right? Of course not.
But in politics sometimes certain things are necessary to gain and keep power. I don't blame them for the killings-- I mean, the only way to eradicate a monarchy is to wipe out the entire royal family. If any of them are left, that person would serve as a rallying point for all supporters of that monarchy.
It doesn't make murder right, especially that of children. But I can understand the motives behind the action.

Funny, i just started reading as in read the prolouge on the toilet "The Last Tzar" found it in my house. see what you gotta realize is that these people oppressed you and will do anything to make sure you dont have power and when its taken away you are given the worst treatment possible. A child will probably make sure to it more than those who were overthrown so if anything its more important for the child to be taken out.

Czarist autocracy, Soviet autocracy... I am sensing a pattern

do you know why they killed them? because the czech legion was near them and they had no means of evacuating them, i see no paralel.

Gracchvs well, you are weak, simple. if you wont do that which nessessity dictates... Perhaps I am weak. I would do what is necessary with some reservations, but I would look for alternative solutions first.
