Say, has anyone started a story thread here? Maybe we should! Something like a story in the round, I guess you'd call it. Someone starts the story, then someone else reads it, adds their bit to it, and so on. I think it would be fun! The only thing is, quoting would have to be forbidden, or else it would take forever to read. Any takers on this idea? Has it been done? I would love to read something like that, something we all put into.

I'm not sure if it has, and if so, it may be in the literature section, but I do love the idea.

I'm for it all the way. ^_^

Well, I think we should do it then! I'll start it off with something topical, the people can add what they wish. I can't wait to see how this turns out!

It was raining, again. It seemed as though the rain would never end. Aramethea looked out of the window, her head resting on her hand, and sighed. Just yesterday the sun had peeked through the clouds - a fleeting glimpse of warm sunlight, just enough to make you crave more. Then the clouds rolled back in, heavy with rain. And rain it did.
She glanced at the clock. 2:14. Not a sound could be heard from the street below her. Just the rain, heavy, then light, then heavy again. Never ending rain. Ara felt as though the world had become watery, diluted. That no amount of sunshine could ever dry it out. Her eyes fled to the clock again. 2:17. Only three more dull hours, then the street would start to come to life again, full of open umbrellas and people running to catch the bus that would take them home. Out of the rain.
The minutes dragged. Listlessly, Ara moved about her apartment, trying to find anything that would keep her interest for more than a few moments. She thumbed through a magazine, then tossed it aside. Turned on the television. Nothing on. Turned it off. With another sigh, she returned to her seat at the window.

Outside, in the pouring rain, Crystellia, usually called Chrys, walked around with her face to the clouds, oblivious to the cold. The rain on her skin always felt so cold, so refreshing, so cleansing. It made her feel wonderful. Her small, white dog ears were laid back to protect the insides from too much water, and she hummed a tune listlessly.

((Is this 2 a.m. or p.m.?))

Standing in her family bookstore, Kira stared at the rain and sighed. It was a slow day again, with students whispering quietly and studying. Returning to the novel she had been reading, the young girl began to write her book report. She was only nineteen anyways. Interupted by her older brothers and their fight over which board game to play, she sighed again, walked to the back room and yelled, "Play the game of Risk, for crying out loud!". Annoyed, he turned on her CD player and began to nod her head in tune with the song. Soon she had unconsously writtes a seven paragraph book report that seemed great!

The rain was still coming down hard. An hour had passed, then two. Rutoh looked up and saw a girl sitting in the window of a nearby house. The girl could not see her, but that did not matter.
Rutoh fingered the book in her two hands lovingly, sheltering it with her body from the rain, still looking up at the girl in the window. A drop of rain slipped off of her hair, down her cheek, and landed on the ground, lost in the sound of the other raindrops, pouring down all around her.
Rutoh remebered the girl at the book store. Kira, that had been her name. She was patient when Rutoh found it difficult to explain what she wanted and was kind when the purchase had been finished. Rutoh wondered what Kira was doing now.
The rain fell harder and Rutoh leaned over her book some more to keep it out of the wet and wondered if anyone would find her there in the morning.

The bookstore was closed for the day, and Kira was in the back, putting the games away. Suddenly, a peice of tinfoil hit her in the back of the head. She didn't mind at first, but when a dictionary was flung at her, she was annoyed. She dodged the dictionary, turned around, and gave her brothers 'the look.' "Alright, you're DEAD!" The tean lunged at her brothers, grabbing on by the collar. "Don't think that taking tai-judo was for nothing. I warned you once Kaoru." Kaoru just smirked, no response there.

Ara looked out the window and into the gloom. People had started moving again and life came back to the streets. She peered out of her window into the ally that sat opposite her apartment and thought she saw something lying on the ground. She stared for a few more moments, then decided to investigate.

Rutoh could feel the cold all around her as she lay shivering in the rain for a few more moments. Her breath was coming out in small silver white clouds even though the outside temperature was not even below 50 degrees (I'm using farenheight). She clung to her book and prayed.

Up in the sky, clouds shifted and small beams of light squeezed through to settle on the city grounds. A clock chimed the hour from a church near the school. A few businesses opened up and began to set up for the day. People began to bustle everywhere.

The rain had lasted all through the night and had not seemed to be willing to give up only a few minutes before. Ara shifted nervously as she got ready for the dasy herself, often times glancing at the figure on the couch.

(Come on people, you help too!)

The silent, grim figure on the couch was her brother, Suni. He had witnessed a murder and hasn't uttered a word ever since. There was no use enrolling him in school any further. It was like he turned off the light switch. They never found who murdered that poor young child. Maybe he would start talking again if they did.

Rutoh finally found herself a dry comfertable place to read her book. She was drenched to the bone and did not care. She resembled a drowned rat in the sewer, but nobody cared about her so why should she.

Still mumbling to her self, Rutoh did the best she could to dry her hands on the welcome mat she was sitting on. She had placed her book on the dry ground beside her and now picked it up with hands trembling from the cold. She opened the pages to the dedication and read it slowly, her eyes threatening to spill tears as each word moved under them.
To my dearest daughter and her wonderful smile. May she never frown again.
Rutoh shook her head gently so as not to get water on the book, then sighed and turned the page to begin reading.
