you used to be cool...
All in all though it pains me to make another one of these threads so those of us that still check this page to see if someone posted I think we all need to agree to say "******** you" to Gaia and find another place to talk about inflicting chaos without actually doing ANYTHING AT ALL because really what have we accomplished here besides being a target for people who can't read?
Nuthin. That's what.

One problem is you only get out of this forum what is invested in keeping it running.
WIthout any significant input by the members, there's precious little to comment on.
Then there's the time involved. I don't have all that much to spare anymore, even with multitasking. I was shocked to see that RSJ finally posted something after many months away.
I'll leave it to others to add their theories, but I think I covered the key points with this post.
As for Gaia sucking, it still does. My question is, what can be done about it?

Thank you.
I decided to actually go back to the original thread of AYGGS back in the Guilds section and find out what the original "mission statement" was. It came to my attention that AYGGS' original intention may have been NOT to be another group set up to try and dethrone the idiots on Gaia. If I were to fathom a guess, then it's original establishment was supposed to be a place for RSJ and his buddies to hang out during their duration on this site. From what I could see, AYGGS was originally a hang-out place for RSJ and his skilled artist buddies and their skilled artist buddies and generally everyone they knew from deviantart or The Eternal Beach Party.
In other words:
AYGGS had no mission statement to begin with. It was just a crash pad.
I think, if anything, that many of us adopted this idea that we were trying to give it some kind of mission statement so that those of us who are/were not mutual friends with RSJ to begin with had something to hang on to. We weren't friends of RSJ or RSJ's friends but needed somewhere to go when our own words were drowned out by the wails of pre-teen otakus and otakettes. But what more could we do when our Guild is called "The All You Goddamn Gaians Suck Guild"? With a Guildname as biting as that, then it gives off the impression that our mission was to tell people they suck. But that got boring, very much so. We ran out of ideas, and motivation especially since the founders of our Guild have long since gone. And as I stated in a previous thread, we've began to tear at each other, which is ludicrous. I know this just emerged now but I'm worried about this going out of hand. Uproot the weed before it spreads and that whole business.
I see two possible solutions to the problem to make all of us happy and to ensure that the lot of us walk away from this with less frustration.
1) We change the name of the Guild. That way the Guild does not seem like an exclusive club, and that the Guild does not seem like a spawning ground for people who want to do the impossible and reform internet morons, for that is the thirteenth task of Hercules.
2) We leave. We set up another forum somewhere or go to a pre-existing one where we don't have to worry about absantee moderators and throngs of delinquents.
Both seem like impossibilities at this point in time, I'm aware, but for Gods' sake I'm tired of in-fighting over what the nature of the Guild is.
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe RSJ did intend for AYGGS to become a massive army of intellectuals and craftsmen who would march on the shores of internet idiocy and raise a new flag. I don't know.
My point is we need to stop in-fighting. We need to start fresh, somehow and somewhere. I'm willing to help however I can.
Seriously.
This has gotten goofy.

Here is my two cents on the non-drama I see before me.
Gaia Online is a bad joke, like much of the content on teh internetwebspace.
Our enclave is secure, but a tad inbred due to the select nature of our membership.
No one is really interested in expending the kind of neo-revolutionary energies required to purge the stupidity that swells against the dikes of our metaphorical land.
I prefer the zen method. Give my intelectual enemies no target to strike, and use their own energies against them as needed.
Little or nothing else is required. I'm standing by to see what others think.

Real life prevents me to spend to much time on Gaia so I haven't been all that active.
I don't see why we should try to change Gaia ; I thought the point of this guild was to have a safe haven to enjoy some of the special add-ons this forum provides us like the avatars, the games and what used to be a potent art community. If not, we could just have our own phpbb or ezboard forum instead of insisting on staying here. Heck, we could even start a LJ community since most of us are registered there.
I still enjoy logging in once in a while to check what pple have to say bout the latest movie, game, book or news, wherever that may be.

Real life is what keeps me from getting fully involved again. But I do poke this thread to see if anything interesting is going on. It's all well and good to make fun of stupid Gaians, but I enjoy hearing movie/book/game opinions moreso.
Personally, I don't mind where we go, if we even leave. I'll still be lurking either way.
...and now back to studying for finals. Ugh.

I'm too busy with life to bother with Gaia. You dudes are cool though so I make it a point to check AYGGS at least once daily.

Question:Quote: What happened to you AYGGS? Answer:Quote: Real life has dealt me a heavy hand. So I'm not here as much Quote: Real life prevents me to spend to much time on Gaia so I haven't been all that active. Quote: Real life is what keeps me from getting fully involved again. Quote: I'm too busy with life to bother with Gaia. You dudes are cool though so I make it a point to check AYGGS To NeoBlue, Ever-Infamous Kojiro-san and anyone else who may have forgotten what this guild is. http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?page=3&t=401501#15978372RSJ bigbigtruck (came to this thread thru RSJ's LJ) Uhm, I'd join, but I already got turned off from Gaia by the flood of Lame. Which is sad, because the admins here are cool and the idea is cool, but this place has turned into Preteen Party. But you see, bigbigtruck, this is exactly WHY I've created this guild. This thread isn't for people that do the "GUILD" thing. You should know me by now. I don't role play. This thread is a memorial. Tell me, when you first came to Go.Gaia, and saw Mal (Bryan O'Malley) was the first artist to post in the art arena... that you didn't think that this place would become something TRULY SPECIAL? This is because we all respect the work of Lanzer and the Studio XD crew. This is because when L0cke and the gang first started promoting the site on the OCAD BBS and the like, this seemed like a REALLY COOL idea. People that have been off doing their own thing coming out to participate on Gaia. (like Corey Lewis, Robert DeJesus, Nathan Avery...) They all have Go.Gaia accounts. That lasted a whole month. Now we've all written off Go.Gaia as the CESSPOOL that it is. But I think it should be know what's been LOST in the process. That's why I've asked people that have long since washed their hands of this place, to join this guild. Am not asking you to participate on the site again. I wouldn't have any reason at all to JUSTIFY asking for that. Just leave a post in this thread. So that I can add your name to the guild. That's all. And then you go back to your Gaia-free lives... knowing that you are the better for it. But that you are sorely missed. But that sadly, the people of Gaia just don't DESERVE you. This is all I ask. You all have a happy Independance Day. Remember that you are free to do whatever you like with your life. That the choice to defend what you hold dear is yours to make. The decision to abandon old standards for a new way of life is also yours for the making. Yes, there is a mission. There's also the freedom to abandon the mission. This is not an exclusive social club, although you are free to socialize. This is why the AYGGS guild is a public guild, not a private one. The idea is not to hide from Gaia, but to interact and represent for as long as you have a mind to participate on Gaia at all. Some of us are passed the point of spamming for gold everyday for new items, because we have families, careers, jobs and other responsibilities. But for those of you here that still participate on Gaia, and are members of the AYGGS guild, all I ask is that you do so with pride and comraderie for your fellow AYGGS members. Comraderie for the rest of the gaians out there is purely optional... because they SUCK. Thank you for asking. I hope this helps. Although, the answer was within AYGGS all along.

You know, I come back after all this time because I'll do anything to whore out my (sucky) web comics, and I find that this site is even WORSE than it was 2 years ago.
Holy smokes, can you blame people for not posting around here or on Gaia at all? This place is going to give me epilepsy.
