Yeah, I love Boston. Its almost as much fun to play as it is to listen to. Everytime i feel like im losing touch with the classics by playing too much Metal, I jam out to Rock & Roll Band or Smokin'.

I try not to sub-categorize metal too much so different s**t gets put into different categories than what other people think they should be in.

well i have yet to play those but then again i'm busy and i'm not really learning songs yet i've been messing around with different sounds on my bass and playing easy songs i already know till i get the stiches out of my finger.

I'm the opposite. i always categorize metal bands. like most people dont consider Yngwie Malmsteen and Van Halen metal, but i think of them alongside Racer X(Paul Gilbert is the Jesus of guitar) and Rusty Cooley in my shred metal category.

I'd consider Sabbath as Hard Rock, Yngwie as Neoclassical, Van Halen as a different brand of Hard Rock alongside Racer X.
But who cares about categories, anyway? xp

In the end it boils down to guitarists are going to lean towards bands with great guitarists, whether is grunge-core-molodic-death metal or just plan hard rock. People that dont play guitar are going to lean twoards bands whose lyrics they like razz its fact.
And while we're one the subject of subgenres, what the ******** is "viking metal"??!?!?!?!?!?!
