Haze was normally loathe to be outside where there was sunshine and insects and elements that she nor anyone she knew could control. Needless to say she had never dreamed of going to any location that did not involve a roof, carpetted floors, or at the very least a magically summoned environment. Anything natural made Haze feel uncomfortable and cranky.

So why, after all the effort of pointing out these facts, is the Silarian woman at the park of all places?

The cause was the infant struggling in his stroller.

"We're here. Outside. Are you satisfied?" Haze asked through grit teeth. She couldn't understand why she had to be the one here and not Huni. Who was the employer after all? Was it not Haze? Who paid for the rent and provided a monthly per diem? Was it not Haze? No, no it wasn't Haze it was her brother Arson, but nevertheless who was related to Arson? Was it not Haze?

Her mental tirade continued as she absently smoothed the pastel green skirt that barely reached past her thighs. A bag just large enough to contain a mirror and some loose change hung from her bare shoulders. An off-shoulder blouse shimmered in different hues with each motion Haze made.

Elias squirmed with the straps confining him to his brand new stroller. He would have settled for his older sister's used one, but for some reason they didn't quite get along. Not that he hadn't tried to make friends with the Mishap. He just assumed she was being unreasonable and had issues now that he was here.

He'll help her work out her problems in due time, but right now he had his own problems. Namely getting out of this horrible contraption.

"Aaaa'i!" he whined, turning to the odd creature that was beside his stroller.

Uninhabited, or Habi as she is referred to more often, cawed and began to peck at the straps. That is until the stroller began to move. She flapped her wings in surprise and began to trot after her bonded. She didn't like to see him so upset, and the large fire-haired woman wasn't doing anything about it!

"We'll find some other child for you to make yourself acquainted with while I nap. Hopefully there would be other adults around to watch you in my stead. I require my beauty sleep." Haze frowned and scanned the park.

Huni had told her dozens of little children frequented the park, so why on Silar were there none present? She seethed in frustration as she continued to push the stroller until she finally spotted someone. Haze failed to notice anything about the sandbox, specifically the small figure in the sandbox. She only decided to stop and ask for directions.

Wheeling their way, she flashed the young woman a charming smile. "Excuse me, but would you know where all the children are?"

Haze had not bothered to asses her thoughts on the younger woman until she pointed out the child in the sandbox. Initially, the Silarian thought she was an older sister or a baby sitter and it was only when Raya spoke of daemons, and guardians and forgotten that Haze took real notice. Her eyes did not reveal her thoughts, after all she had not formed any just yet.

She let her gaze fall upon the sand-covered pair, deeming them interesting and worthy of being acquainted with her charge.

"Yes, I am a guardian but as for daemon and forgotten? Is that what the children and these creatures are called?" her head slightly inclined to the side. The man at the Library had only told her that the books released children and animals, not what they were called.

Elias turned towards the direction of the odd sound. It was shrill and high pitched, quite unlike the screeches he heard his guardian make. Curse this vile contraption keeping him prisoner, if only he was free he'd go take a look for himself!

Of course once Fray had gotten closer, Elias managed to hoist himself up just enough to spot the other boy. He stared at Fray in suspicion momentarily before all traces of distrust faded into a bright smile.

"Huu?" he gurgled, pointed at the boy. He wasn't all too interested in the young woman his guardian was speaking with.

Uninhabited cowered at Raya, trying to shrink back under the stroller. Unfortunately her size and wings made this impossible and she ended up tripping and falling flat on her wings. She flayed helplessly and only righted herself with Haze's assistance.

"Honestly Habi, you should learn to be more graceful." Haze scolded the daemon softly before turning back to Raya. "Forgive me, I would wish to become acquainted first before I introduce you to my charge. I am Haze K. Wyndre, and who do I have the pleasure of speaking with?"

"No, no, there's no need for you to apologize, you're being quite informative." And there was truth in her words, she found it was often times those who were not fully prepared to explain who were the best sources of information. It meant they had nothing to hide, or if they did they weren't entirely certain of how to hide it.

"It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Raya. And my Forgotten, as you have so kindly clarified, is Elias Injo. And his daemon is Uninhabited but the preferred sobriquet for her is Habi." Haze smiled, her own hands motioning to the little one in the stroller and the odd hodgepodge of a creature.

"And by Pippin would he be the man with the natural lime-colored hair? I had thought it had been dyed that hue as I have rarely seen locks in that bright shade. Oh forgive me, you see I'm not from Gaia but from another realm called Silar. I doubt you would have heard of it, no one ever seems to have." she sighed dramatically but grinned to indicate she was not taking things to heart. "In all circumstances I've only been Elias' guardian for a few nights and you are the first fellow guardian and Forgotten we've encountered." She had avoided commenting on Raya's last thought, whether raising children was worth all the trouble Haze was not one to say. Not outside the security of her home, certanly not would she voice her opinions.

He giggled at the sandy instrument and very much wanted to look at the other boy up close. Seeing him struggle to cross the sandy terrain made Elias frustrated at his own predicament. He would have helped him across, or at the very least be with him in his journey. He didn't think it was fair for someone to be having difficulties alone. With an annoyed grunt, he motioned to his daemon to help him escape.

Habi craned her neck to take a closer look at the two figures in the sandbox, all from the safety of behind the stroller. Her wings drooped in apprehension as her eyes met Lavender's sneer. What had she done to offend her fellow daemon? Her thoughts were interrupted as Elias once again asked for her assisstance and glad for the excuse began to peck at the clasp. It took a few unsure jabs before she and her bonded heard a click, and released the straps. She squawked in joy, she had done something correctly!

Of course the ruckus coming from the stroller soon drew Haze's attention. "It seems young Elias is quite eager to become acquainted with your Forgotten." she chuckled, though inwardly she wondered just how capable was the pair at escaping the stroller. She lifted the babe out, and set him down where the box ended. Haze did not approve of activities that ruined one's clothing. She only hoped the sand was not filthy and crawling with parasites.

Elias hoisted himself into the sandbox, with some help from his daemon of course. His arms were outstretched to Fray, in a gesture of friendship and help.

Habi perched on the sandbox's edge, her eyes watching her bonded affectionately. Her front paws carefully stepped on the sand and she gave a shrill caw of surprise as she sank a little bit into it. Her wings flapped frantically, trying to lift herself out of it. She only succeeded in blowing sand everywhere.

Haze beamed in pleasure at the young woman's critique of her latest (and hopefully last) charge. Yes, Raya's company was quite enjoyable and very reminiscent of her brood of friends in Silar. It wouldn't surprise the red-head to hear that the young woman she was speaking with was of noble blood. She certainly had far better breeding that Huni.

Her thoughts of the Gaian reminded her of the addage that it was not possible to turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. Or something of that sort.

"You are most generous with your compliments, Raya. And permit me to hold you to your offer for assistance in the future. In exchange of course, if there is anything you would need, do not hesitate to ask. I'm certain my employee would be more than happy to be of service." Haze nodded.

"Elias is named after an ancestor of mine, a rather distant great, great, grand uncle twice or thrice removed. His luxurious locks were quite a sight, as attested by his portraits." she smiled, watching the Forgotten from the corner of her eye. "Fray is quite the darling and for his talents to be so evident at such a young age! He must be a musical genius." Her words were sincere, her golden eyes showed that she was genuinely impressed with him.

"What of you, Raya? Were born and raised in Gaia?" she asks. T'was only right that she learns about her new acquaintance's history. Haze took care of those who found her favor and Raya was certainly eligible of that title. "And Lavender bites?" she asks, her brow creasing slightly in worry.

Elias did his best to calm Habi down, but in the end he had to wrestle her out of the sandbox. He instructed the daemon to stay by the edge but not to go any further. He knew she meant well, after all he could hear her thoughts and her desire to be of assistance to the other Forgotten. He also heard her wish to make friends with the little mouse-creature Fray was with.

He pat her gently on the beak before turning his attention back to his new friend. Fray had stopped just a few steps away from him and Elias shared the other Forgotten's joy. He was curious about Fray's whistle and Lavender. He hadn't seen another daemon other than Habi after all.

"Eyas." He introduced while extending his hand to Fray, though to an older child it seemed like he was requesting for a 'high five'. He didn't touch Fray, if anything he was waiting for Fray to return the gesture.

Habi keened pitifully as she shook herself free of the sand. Her wings drooped considerably in dismay as she tried to apologize to Lavender for her goof up. She hadn't intended on blowing sand everywhere, especially not onto them. Her front paws rested on the solid edge of the sandbox, careful this time not to even touch the surface. She felt relief at seeing Fray's wave and flapped one wing in response. Now if only Lavender would make a sign that it was alright...

Graciously, Haze took a seat beside Raya on the bench and made herself comfortable. Initially, Haze had hoped she would be able to entrust Elias and Habi with someone for a few moments in order to take a short nap. But continuing the conversation she was having with Raya was far more entertaining. It would seem that Raya has more knowledge in the subject of these children, Haze would have to learn as much as she can.

"Special? No, neither he nor Habi has done anything out of the ordinary. Unless keeping one's guardian up at night is considered special." She sighs, her own gaze resting momentarily on the boy before returning her attention to Raya. "My older charge wasn't as lively as Elias when she was his age. Do you have other charges?"

She looked thoughtful for a moment, upon Raya's question regarding her arrival in Gaia. It wasn't that she was unsure of what to say, for Haze had been taught what to tell others when asked. No, she was actually pondering on just how much was she going to tell her new acquaintance.

"Oh, come now, my family's history is anything but brilliant. It is long, boring and quite uninteresting and those are the good parts." The Silarian chuckles, "My older brother is handling our family's business affairs, and I manage the social functions. But there hasn't been any reason to celebrate as of late. We have a small house (a shack quite frankly) somewhere in Durem, and rather than letting it go to waste I opted to stay in Gaia for the meantime."

Not a single lie in her answer, and yet it wasn't the entire truth. Haze figured there wouldn't be a need for Raya to view her brother in a negative light. At least, not yet...

Elias cheered as Fray's palm met his and he happily sat down on the sand. Canting his head, his chocolate eyes peer curiously at the whistle. So without that thing in his mouth, the other Forgotten could make sounds like he does.

"Fway," Elias nods to the boy, "Rav." he frowns slightly at the rat-daemon. She wasn't very nice, was she? Not at all like Uninhabited, who seemed so very eager to please. Now that his new friend has introduced himself and his daemon, he gestured towards the hodge-podge creature peering over his shoulder.

"Uneehabi'ed," he said, though it was evident he was not pleased at being unable to properly pronounce his daemon's full name. He did wish her name had fewer letters, but she seemed fine with his effort. "Habi." he added.

"An 'sokie." He grins, waving his hand to indicate Fray didn't need to apologize.

Habi squawked at the pair, flapping her wings slightly in greeting. She loved meeting new people, almost as much as her bonded did. Although it distressed her that she doesn't make very good first impression despite her valiant attempts. And with Lavender's disapproval, Uninhabited didn't quite know what to do. She cocked her head sideways, cawing.

((I apologize on how short this is going to be @_@))

"I only hope that whatever ability they possess, it is not destructive. It would be difficult for everyone involved should they be unable to control their gifts." Haze sighed, there was something wistful in her eyes. Her tone, her stance, they seemed to indicate she knew what the possible consequences were in the event that Elias and Uninhabited were indeed capable of unintentionally wrecking havoc.

"I have one other charge at home, she's a Mishap whose features resemble those of a sheep. Although I do agree on the subject that raising children can be a..." the Silarian was highly tempted to say bother but figured it would be better if she used Raya's own term. "A strain. I'm fortunate in the financial department." Though she never explicitly stated anything, her warm smile was an invitation she extended to Raya.

"As for the comparison of Gaia and Silar, there are notable differences in terms of geography, culture and inhabitants. I cannot say much about the difference in living conditions, as I've only experienced living in Durem. The rest of Gaia is unexplored territory." She shrugs.

It had been nearly a year since she came to Gaia in order to get away from her brother's smothering control. While she did have to give up a lot of her usual luxuries, Haze was accustomed to difficulties. Spoiled she was, there was no doubt about that, but a Wyndre's standards of 'spoiled' is quite different from the other Silarians or Gaians for that matter.

Elias peered at the mound of sand and lit up in both curiosity and delight. "Ya! Ookie!!" he beamed and started crawling towards the train station that Fray had shaped. He accepted the train for a moment, if only to examine it and to avoid offending Fray. He knew he wouldn't want someone to refuse whatever it was he was offering.

Now he thoroughly wished he had something with him to show Fray in return. Why hadn't he brought that doll Haze bought him? Oh yes, perhaps because it was falling apart at the seems despite being brand new. He didn't hold the train for long and pushed it back towards Fray as if offering it back to him.

He wasn't returning it because he didn't want it (he found the train neat actually), but because he didn't like accepting things without having anything to give back. "Fway toy." he stated, matching the other boy's smile.

Habi cawed from the edge of the sandbox, she knew better than to join them. Instead she rested her head atop her front paws and watched with keen interest. Fray was a darling friend for her bonded, his whistle was an interesting thing too.

Raya looked at her new acquaintance for another moment, considering her odd situation. She shrugged with a weak smile, her hands knotting once again over her lap. “Well, certainly they are going to have trouble with their powers at first, they are children after all,” she said, pondering quietly. Raya had heard several stories from her parents of how she had wreaked a moderately large amount of havoc over the Koumi household. As a child she often wandered to the park and began stealing food from other people’s picnic baskets. Oh, those were the days. Now in her somewhat desperate scramble for food Raya could only wish it was as easy now, in her later years. “Yet, these children we have, these Forgotten,” she began, eyeing Fray and Elias affectionately. “They are going to be something spectacular, I know it,” she said, a hopefully naive twinkle in her young eyes. Quickly she shook her head, realizing that she was getting carried off in a daydream, as teenagers often do.

“Ahh, well, anyway,” Raya chuckled, somewhat embarrassed. “Gaia is, if anything, a peaceful place. Some interchange that with boring, but I enjoy the slow pace. Granted, sometimes strange happenings go on between shop owners and major industries, but those only happen from time to time and the rest of us are usually quite capable of going on with things as normal.” She explained, leaning back on the bench somewhat and offering Haze another smile. “It’s a pretty nice place to raise a kid, if you ask my opinion, especially if you have your hands full with two,” she added, intrigued by Haze’s interesting-sounding second charge.

“But hey, if you ever want a guide or even someone just to get out with, Fray, Lavender and I would be happy to accompany you!” Raya said with a vibrant excitement, not all too different than the emotion shared by the two kids playing in the sandbox. “I have a pretty good know-how about Barton, I mean, where to shop for the cheapest, the best, what routes you should avoid… those things, I suppose.” she said with a bright smile. She conveniently left out the part where all her best friends live in Durem and how Raya has been mind numbingly lonely the past few months. “So, don’t hesitate to call us over whenever you want some company,” Raya said, a large smile playing upon her face.

Fray, on the other hand, was having just as fun of a time as his guardian, but perhaps in fewer words. He seemed very grateful that Elias was kind enough to return the train, but he was still willing to share it all the same. Fray dusted some hair out of his eyes with his large purple sleeve, but began crawling over to the train station along with Elias. Pausing at the sound of a caw, he turned around to look at Habi with his large light eyes teeming with curiosity.

“Habi, come pway!” Fray invited, swinging his hand welcomingly (although his actual fingers remained unseen under his obscenely large shirt). With a warm smile he popped his whistle back into his mouth and crawled back to the ‘train station’. His scarf dragged a good two feet behind him, every piece of clothing on him well larger than his own size. Fray placed the train on a direct path through the hole of the mound, but he placed Lavender in the back carrying cart. The unpleasant rodent would usually protest and bite, but in all honesty she enjoyed the quick rides through the tunnel. Not to mention she has a great appreciation for small spaces. So, Lavender curled up in the cart, her small black eyes peeking out and glaring at whomever dared to catch her eyes.

“Fweet fweeet~!” Fray whistled, smiling at Elias. He gently tapped the back of the train, offering Elias to push it through it’s first go-around.

(( Once again, sorry it’s so late! ;_; don’t worry about short posts. xD ))

"Peaceful doesn't necessarily mean that it's boring, it is always possible that something is brewing and we are simply unaware." The Silarian smiled as she gave the park a brief scan. She believed it was in man's nature to be restless, to always be unsatisfied with what they have. She couldn't blame them for finding the lack of visible activity synonimous with peace. A war doesn't always entail militaristic efforts, the society she grew up in was far capable of waging a war without spilling so much as a drop of blood.

She shook her head to clear her mind of Silar, the last thing she wanted was to feel nostalgic and possibly even homesick. Not when she had to prove she was a responsible adult to her brother. She wondered vaguely when he would visit and attempt to persuade her to return, and again she chided herself on letting her thoughts return to Silar.

"I do believe I will accept your generous offer," Haze declared with determination, "In turn, if you are ever in need of assistance, feel perfectly free to ask. And fret not about having my hands full with two children to raise, I have hired help at home. She's quite capable of watching over the children whenever I need a moment's rest."

Somewhere in Durem, a red-haired woman accidentally bit her tongue*.

Habi brightened considerably at the invitation but waited for Elias' approval before even stepping into the sandbox.

Can? She asked with wings neatly folded behind her. After accidentally getting sand on everyone she was a little more conscious of her wings.

Elias canted his head at Fray in mild surprise before breaking out into a large smile. After glancing back with a nod to his daemon, Elias scooted over to the train. He giggled softly, finding delight in seeing Lavender riding the train. She looked so adorable despite her temper and glares.

The whistling confused Elias at first, but watching Fray tap the back of the train helped him understand what his friend was saying.

Habi made her way to the group, her movements were slow and careful. Each step was made with the utmost concentration, so that when Fray blew on his whistle, the daemon found herself a little disoriented. She squawked a little, her stance apologetic as she finally managed to reach them.

She sat down on the sand, squirming a little until she got used to the sensation.

'Is fun?' She asked Lavender with a soft caw.

*biting one's tongue was thought to mean someone was talking about you.

Raya let a small, quaint smile spread across her face. Her new friend Haze was indeed quite a mysterious one. She felt as if the Silarian was constantly thinking five steps ahead of her mouth. In all honesty it was refreshing to see such an intelligent woman, and it gave Raya a glimmer of hope that raising Fray and Lavender wouldn’t be an impossible task.

“Hired help, huh?” The young girl pondered with a thoughtful finger pressed against her lips. “Sounds helpful, although I’m glad to say that these two aren’t really a handful,” she glanced over to Fray and Lav who were (at least partially) playing well with Elias and Habi.

“Haze, can I ask you something?” Raya asked absent-mindedly with her dark grey eyes glued to the beloved Forgotten. “How do you publicly explain Elias and Habi? I mean, surely when you go for a walk in the park people stop you and question his appearance, garb and daemon. I mean, Fray is relatively normal looking especially among the Forgotten Documents,” her voice hushed slightly as she mentioned their names, “But people still ask me about his birthmark and eyes. Not to mention people tend to freak out when they see something as big as a sewer rat in his carriage.” It actually caused the young girl to cringe a little at the thought of strangers stopping her on the street and questioning her charge. Raya did believe in the goodness of people, but quite frankly it got annoying and repetitive to the point she would rather just scream at them stating it was none of their business.

“I suppose what I’m trying to ask is how do you fend off accusations that your child is abnormal?” Raya’s eyes lifted from the FeeDee and met Haze’s, a taut frown upon her face. “Kids like Elias and Fray, they’re special,” she said, “but they shouldn’t be alienated from their peers just because of their appearance.”

Fray, at this point, was ecstatic to be experiencing something with a peer. His eyes seemed to brighten at Elias’ and Habi’s presence, and he had never really met another Forgotten before. As Habi hesitantly navigated through the sandbox, Fray was somewhat enamored by her outlandish yet beautiful appearance. He noticed when he blew his whistle Habi seemed to stumble a little.

“Sowwe,” Fray apologized, his words muffled slightly by the whistle jammed into his mouth. As he exhaled the whistle let out a withering ‘fweee’. His eyes averted back to Elias and Fray sat back and crossed his legs, both hands between his legs and a contented smile upon his face.

Lavender, which was curled upon the train no bigger than a woman’s fist, peeked her dark eyes out to glare and Habi. The black pools seemed endless and intimidating. She didn’t send a response and simply burrowed her head back into the crate, pressing her tiny ears back against her head. She didn’t want anyone or anything enjoying her train ride.
