no more me whining about how crappy my old puter was...we got a new one today! I have boxes all over the computer room lol but I don't even care!
It's nothing fancy. Best buy had a sale until Sat on an Emachine. I did some research online after the crappy sales person there talked us out of it and tried to upsell us on a gateway puter that was twice as much as the sale price of the emachine. He swore he didn't work on commission and that he wouldn't recommend a emachine to anyone but someone who used it about once a month.
Well after research it turned out that the one we went into get is a decent puter after all and perfectly fine for what we will be using it for. So Kevin went back today and got it. I just finished hooking it all up (except the printer) and I'm so happy!!!!
Now I have to install all my favorite programs on here (like AVG and Zone Alarm etc)

Congrats on the new puter Jaz!! I think you made the right choice, as I havent heard many good things about Gateway PC's 3nodding

Poppetta yay, you'll be able to do all the things that you couldn't before now blaugh omg you aren't lying! It's amazing how much more fun the internet is now that it doesn't take forever to do things. Seriously I spun the wheel of misfourtune and usually it takes about 5 minutes for it to load up and finish spinning for me...it was over in about 30 seconds! I was amazed! How in the world did I survive?

Yay!!!! I'm so glad you got a new computer! It does make it so much easier/better doing internet things and games! I think I avoid doing anything on my mom's or sister's computers, not because they're that much slower, but because they're not mine and I don't feel comfortable, and it's not my mouse, keyboard, programs, or harddrive, so I just don't like to. I couldn't imagine having to go back to slowness after being used to this. Like earlier this week when I was playing Sims on here and needed to check something, so used Jade's slow computer with her mouse that tends to double or triple click when you try to single click.. and it brings up 5 windows, and then takes a day and a half (ok, exaggeration) to close the extra ones.. INFURIATING! scream

Congratualtions on a new computer!!!!!!!!!! roocee Congrats Jaz. I haven't heard good things about Gateway either. Not around here anyway. Gee, I hope it is regional cause my Gateway is awesome *knocks on wood* I caugt it on the clearance sale at Sams club for under 600.00 and it had a big ol' flat thin moniter which would have been a chunk of the 600.00 I paid when I bought mine a couple years ago.

My parents' first computer (after their green-screen IBM 80/86) was a Gateway, with windows 3.X on it. I LOVED that thing. First time using a mouse and a graphical user interface and all. It lasted a long time, and lived pretty long in computer years, I'd say. Then Jason worked for Gateway phone tech support for a number of years until they shut down their call center. They gave great benefits, treated him well, he had awesome fellow team members, and they treated us to gourmet Christmas banquets every year. I'd never heard anything bad about Gateway. But you hear it about every company. One person will get a bad Dell that goes out on him/her sooner than they hoped, and they'll say bad things about it. But it's not the brand. It just happens to a certain percentage of EVERY kind of computer. There's just a bad lemon in the bunch that happens to have something wrong with it. Same with TVs, DVD players, radios, VCRs, etc. You can't consistently blame the same make or brand. Or at least that's the conclusion I've come to.

Mine is an emachine which was bought out by Gateway apparently. My sister has had emachines ever since right after college and she had no complaints. So far it's running like a charm. Sorry fruit...all kevin did was giggle when I asked him. I think that's Kevin for "yeah right" heart heart heart

It just depends, a friend of mine had a Gateway and she had nothing but problems with it. She could have gotten a bad one though, its entirely possible

That's totally true. I have a dell which I love but my sister n law had one at her office that gave her nothing but problems. Turns out there was something major wrong with it and she was given a brand new one.
