Cody had been told to stay outside while Winter worked on unpacking her life and re-arranging it into its new location- a small house that had been provided to her upon adopting the child. It was a good offer, she held down a job at a cafe and was hardly making rent in the last place. That, along with the almost threatoning "ps. we know what you did" at the bottom of the note she's recieved in the mail had been one of the three biggest reasons she had taken the bull child in. Third was a companion that didn't crap on the carpet.
The yard was fenced so he wouldn't get away but Cody really had no intention to try just yet. He grew bored with watching her easily and started looking about for a way to entertain himself. He didn't have any toys just yet, Winter promised him a few if he was good.
The yard was large enough with a single willow tree in the front. This, Cody figured, would be entertainment enough. He grinned and walked over to the trunk, pushing against it. Thick- and hard. Well that was fine. He couldn't punch it though, he'd already tested it out on a wall which lead to a few minutes of screaming and kicking. "AHHH!" He kicked at the trunk, looking around for a reaction. Nothing... how boring.

Now, usually Keanu wouldn't be allowed to wander around on his own, but Raja had left that morning in such a rush she didn't hear the question. Being that there was no word AGAINST it, Keanu had taken it as a yes. Which meant the day was his to seize, as long as he got home before his mum did. As long as he managed that much she'd never find out. Which was the key to making this all work for the nine year old.
Certainly he was perfectly safe, not only had he taken classes in martial arts, but he'd been practicing with a sword with Ikurai. Which had continued ever after the accident that still left his eye covered to keep it from becoming infected. As if that wasn't enough, beside him was a snow white creature with silver dappled along it's forehead running to it's back. Ymir, his faithful mixed breed of a dragon. Together they likely sared anyone who saw them. A kid with a sword around his waist and a patch over his eye. Beside him a dragon who looked like he thought it was too warm.
Actually they were both thinking that. It was too warm today, what with the sun pounding down on them. Neither of the pair was made for warmer summers. They prefered the idea of frolicing in the snow, for wasn't it part of their namesake? Keanu being a snow leopard, and Ymir half frost dragon. It was an assumption anyone could make by looking at them as well. Especially with the way Keanu was talking to the dragon.
"Uhg... Ymir... We need shade." The boy blurted out, regretting leaving his hair so long. Maybe facing scissors would be worth it to free himself of the black locks. That combined with the dense fur along his form made it near unbearable to be in the sun's gaze.
"Chrrg..." Came the dragon's groan of a reply as he padded along with, his wings folded across his back.
Both sets of eye's searched for the nearest form of protection, and the first thing they came across... A nice tall tree. Drooping branches and all. Thank god, something to save them from the sun!
Throwing out any thought of the fact that it was behind a fence, which meant in a yard. Keanu quickly caught hold of the fence, claws digging into the wood to haul himself up it. Ymir looked miffed for a moment before unfolding his wings. Obviously he had every intention of doing this the easy way. Though both paused at the sound they heard.
A scream? Not in fear, but... It sounded like something someone might yell at one of his kung fu classes before breaking a wooden board. Though it was only for a moment that they stood, and clung frozen. Then they kicked back into action as it was once more registered that it was too warm out here.
Up, up, and over the fence went one desperate little leopard. Following by a equally over heated dragon. That certainly didn't happen everyday.

The bull boy paused in his assault on the tree, his ears perking up a bit as the sound of two sets of feet plopped on the ground after the sounds of scrambling and the leathery beat of wings. He waited a moment, slowly returning his foot to the ground under him before walking slowly from the shade of the willow, his eyes squinted. Upon seeing the two, Cody snorted, a primal grunting sound inhanced by the nosering hanging from his nosterels. People weren't supposed to jump fences- that's what they were made for. Winter had told him as much. "Keeps you in and other people out." Was her way of explaining it. Cody was young but far from dull.
"Hey." He grunted again, balling his small fists up at the ready. How rude! Just jumping over the fence... of course prior to Winter's small talk he'd not have known the diffrence.

Normal didn't fit into Keanu's vocabulary. He figured as long as he didn't hurt anything, or cause trouble it was fine. Besides, it was only for a minute, only until the two of them had a chance to cool off. Still, he didn't drop down, and learned over the fence peering curious at the creature below. His ears riveted forward as the child spoke a single word, nothing else following through. The single visable eye starring down at the other curious. Sizing up, or just deciding if it would be tolerated if he went down there. He didn't want any big scuffle, just a moment of shade, but the kid didn't seem like he wanted him there. Actually... He looked like he wanted a fight.
Now, jumping the fence was ok in Keanu's book. Beating up a random stranger because of it? Well that definitely wasn't.
Ymir on the hand ignred the bull, and landed easily before trotting over to the tree to wath them both. "Chrrh." In other words he didn't care what the bull thought of it at the moment.
Still, Keanu had to think about this a bit, all the while baking evenmore under the sun. "Umm... Hi." He replied, still clinging to the top of the fence so only his head and shoulders showed. "Can I um..." He pointed one arm at the tree momentarily before returning it to the fance. "Rest under there for aminute? It's too hot." His tail flicked slightly against the fence before he shifted to perch a bit more on top of the fence. Both feet wrapped in bandages now resting along the thing wood as he crouched, still clinging to the top with his hands to keep his balance.
He probably didn't look that scary. If you ignored the fact he was definitely older than the bull by more than a few years and the sword around his waist. Though that was sheathed, no one would know it was real unless they told him. Which he hadn't. "I'm Keanu." He added, recalling the constant 'don't talk to strangers' speech he got. Not that it did much good. "An' that's Ymir." He added, directing his gaze to the dragon momentarily.
He really didn't like this whole summer thing. It was way too hot. Why couldn't the clouds just come to hide the sun like before?

Cody stepped back slightly as the dragon helped itself to the yard, simply taking a spot under the tree. He pawed at the ground a bit with a foot but didn't do anything more to act on it. Maybe if the nubs on his head were larger or the dragon was smaller. He snorted, turning back to the boy on his fence. For a moment he seemed to be sizing him up, his sandy brown eyes glancing to the sword- for all he knew it was a whackin' stick...still more than he had. He was larger than him by far, older... he slowly looked to his claws, then up at the boy's face again, his expression softening dramatically. "Too hot?" He looked up at the sky thoughtfully, tilting his hat a bit to shade his eyes. He quite liked the heat but then again- the other guy was more fluffy than he was.
"Hmm...", Cody looked to the tree then back, nodding his head and giving welcoming gesture. "In the shade. Name's Cody." He turned and returned to his spot by the tree, frowning as he looked it over. It was hard... kicking it wasn't doing much good.

Ymir hadn't the least inclination to cause trouble for the brown hued boy as long as he didn't bother him. Seeing as how the child had backed off a bit at his actions, the dragon gave a quiet chirp as he did when content. With that done, he curled up on the nice cool earth, well cooler than anything that was in direct sunlight, for his spot of rest.
If he hadn't been in such a rush to relieve himself of the near unbearable heat of the sun he likely would have stopped to see if he could beg some love and attention off Cody in the form of petting. Alas, the dragon tended to have at tops two things on his mind. One was always making sure that Keanu was in one piece, and the other varied. At the moment, it was stuck on avoiding heat stroke. What kind of creature could survive in this sort of environment!?
Keanu gave a nod at the two words. "Yeah, too hot." He replied, continuing to perch on the fence until the other made his decision. Gratefully the leopard, took a second to ready himself before leaping down off the fence to land on the ground near Cody. "It's nice to meet you, Cody." He called cheerily, his mood brightening with the idea of getting out of the rays for a time. He eagerly followed the other's steps to under the tree, before flopping onto the ground once he was safely out of the sun's reach. He shoved his bangs back over his shoulders in an attempt to free himself of even that small amount of cover as well. He'd only worn a tank top, and some shorts today, but even so it was still far too hot out. The problem was definitely that layer he couldn't take off, the fluff.
Both eyes watched as the child stood before the tree, of course the feline's curiosity was hit by this which caused him to blurt out what came to mind first. "What'cha looking at the tree like that for? Is there a bug?" Now he wouldn't frown at a bug, they where fine in his book. Raja on the other hand hated the things, maybe the other boy was like that.

Cody looked to the tree for a time, allowing the leopard boy to situate himself as comfortably as he pleased. Neither the boy or the dragon seemed at all dangerous, they had asked politely so there was really no reason to behave as if they were enemies of any sort. He was just bored. No toys to play with, no one his age about normally... the lad was full of raw energy and had no way to deal with it other than kicking at the tree. He'd ripped up the grass before by pawing at it with his feet but Winter wasn't too pleased with that. The fence wasn't as strong either- he was sure that if he kicked at it long enough it would crack and give and quite frankly if ripped grass was enough to get a scolding, a cracked fence board would earn the bull a swift smack to the breches and a time out.
Cody kicked at the tree once more, he wasn't doing any damage to the bark, it was thick and old, very strong... but it wasn't at all fun to kick either, "No bug." Came his answer as he returned his foot to the ground, snorting heavily as he did so. No fun... no fun at all really. "Wanna play." He really didn't know how to describe his version of 'play'. Running around and hiding didn't seem at all fun, nor did simply running around and getting tagged. The idea of running and -tackling- now that had potential. A full-out wrestle did to- or a boxing match. He grinned at the thought.

Wanna play. Huh, kicking a tree wasn't his idea of playing. Maybe training, but certainly not playing. He flicked an ear momentarily while watching the boy with the single uncovered eye. "What kind of playing?" He asked after a moment. Curiosity was something that tended to plague the boy like no other which spelled serious trouble for everyone around him. "Cause I can play too if it's not out in the sun." He added cheerfully, dismissing the fact he might mess up his eye if he wasn't careful. Oh how quickly he forgot. Then again, it was usually Keanu who was bursting with more energy than the other child in such situations, and so the idea of a game appealed to him. He hadn't been able to go outside as much since it was sunny, which meant less adventuring and less playing hero with other children. Such ideas sounded like fun save he couldn't do either while staying safely in the shade of the tree. Something would need to be done about this lack of ideas.
"Maybe we could make up a game to play?" He suggested, glancing briefly at the dragon who was happily lurking in the shadows. "Do you have any ideas Ymir?" A slightly aggrivated grunt came from the usually chipper dragon as he gaving the young bull a casual glance, then directed his attention back at his partner. He had no intention of being part of this. Obviously being too hot wasn't healthy for Ymir's mood. Thus Keanu turned his attention back to his new friend, for anyone who saved him from the hot son had to be a friend. "Well, what I usually play won't work right now... So any ideas?"

Cody paused in his kicking, blinking blankl over to the larger boy. His long tail swished behind him as he looked around himself. They were still moving in, and Winter hadn't expected him so they'd yet to get any toys or anything really that could be used as a prop in an intersting game. "Hmmm...." He removed his hat shortly to scratch the top of his head.
"We can wrestle!" He grinned over brightly, replacing his hat, "It's good for you. Makes you tough like me." He put his hands proudly on his hips, tossing his head up, "An I bet'cha I win."

At the first suggestion of wrestling Keanu was about to deny the request. For one, he had no reason to want to fight with Cody, if anything the bull seemed nice to him. Though everyone seemed nice to Keanu unless they attacked you without warning with the intent to kill. So maybe that wasn't saying too much. Then came the challenge. "Eh... I don't want to fight with you... But..." He shook his head. "Wrestling isn't anything like what I usually do..." Though he couldn't turn down a challenge. "ButI'm a hero, and I can't lose. I'm tough and I don't need to wrestle to be tough." Alright, so maybe there was some testosterone in the boy, or an ego. Something. Because at the challenge he stood up and proved quite plainly he was definitely taller than Cody at the moment. It really didn't seem at all fair to fight with someone a lot younger than him, but he started it. That's what the voice that said he couldn't back down kept saying anyway.
"If you really want to fight then fine, but I won't go easy on you just because you're younger than me." He added, shifting into one of the forms he'd been taught in class. Perhaps Cody was a tough kid and this might have been even matched if they were the same ag, but as it was Keanu seemed to have an advantage over the boy. Even in his overheated state he knew what he was doing in a battle and he had size on his side this time. Hopefully it wouldn't last long. "So if you want to wrestle go ahead, I accept the challenge."
Ymir, however, low exasperated grunt at the words. There was no point to this, he just hoped neither of them ended up getting themselves hurt with this stupid game, and that they left him out of it. Resting was a good thing durring the hot summer days.

Cody giggled, balling his fits and whooting quietly to himeslf. Finally! Someone he could play with- his way. Not that he really thought he could beat the older boy. Heck, he knew he was about to get his butt handed to him but it would all be in good fun. He might learn something and earn some respect from the older child. "Thanks! It'll be lotsa fun. Don't pull my tail though, kay?"
He watched the older boy take up a stance, how weird... maybe he was scared already. Cody ducked himself, hulking his shoulders and tucking his neck back. His hooves pawed at the ground and he began a plowing charge, pretty much nothing more than throwing himself forward in an attempt to knock someone over.

"Pulling tails isn't fighting, it's being cowardly." He replied giving the other a serious expression. Fighting wasn't a game to him, it was something he'd trained to be good at, and nothing he worked that hard at was a game. Sure he enjoyed the practice, but it was for a goal he held high on his list of thigns to do. Thus his attitude was largely different than the other who took this as playing.
The fight might have earned Cody respect if he'd shown any form of knowledge that he knew what he was doing, though sadly yhe fearless dash at him earned little more than a few scratches on the 'you should practice' list. The boyquickly shiftedto better his position. Frankly Aikido was designed for dealing with people who just charged headlong at you without much regard. Keanu wasn't the least bit afraid of the boy, if anything he should learn to fear some things, but he hadn't. Instead he quickly moved to upset the others charge with his leg beforemoving in an attempt to throw the boy over onto his back. It wasn't the usual form used in the class, usually then someone was trying ot punch you, but likely Cody wasn't expecting the reaction he got from the leopard. So it could still work, and frankly, Keanu didn't want to punch the other child.
Hmm, but maybe a taste ofhis own medicine would be good for the bull. For once he might be the person who was knocked flat on his back?

Cody was completely caught off-guard by the attack. It was his first real 'match' with anyone. Having not attended the fighting class or having gotten into a real scrap with anyone, all his attempts would be purely out of instinct or how he invisioned an attack being sucessful. He was stunned to find himself whirling through the air for a split second, everything seemed to move in slow motion but at the same time he didn't remember ever meeting with the ground, nothing but a flash of stars, black, and colors. Then everything caught up with him as he gasped to fill up his lungs. His head and bum hurt but it was well worth having learned that little attack.
The bull boy rolled himself over onto all fours and shook his head a bit, "Wooooow." He smiled as he looked up to the older boy, "That was good!"
He sounded truely impessed, almost thrilled. Once more he made a charge, this time he crouched lower, using a shoulder to come into the attack.

Keanu had expected that to be the end of it. Perhaps he didn't quite grasp the concept that wrestling meant going until someone couldn't stand up in Cody's book. To him it was a quick bout to show who would win and once it was over, well it was done. To him it was over. So as the other boy gave a bit of praise he smiled closing the single eye happily letting his guard down, which wasn't a good idea. "Thank I took classes so I cou-" Wham right in his stomache. Well that certainly did knock the leopard off his feet and onto his bum with the wind knowcked out of him. For a moment he sat like that startled before shaking his head to get his own wits back and shoving himself up.
That was a dirty trick, so maybe he really shouldn't be going easy on the kid. If he didn't follow the rules, then Keanu certainly didn't need to let him off too easy. He managed to get back to his feet before taking another stance, this one different. No more Aikido, if he wanted to hit hard, Keanu would hit back.
As for Ymir, he had dozed off, or at least seemed to, durring the mess. Keanu would make some noise if he got hurt.

Cody looked dumbfounded, recoiling from his attack and sliding to a stop in the grass. He blinked blankly at the boy as he stumbled back on his bum. For a moment he coudln't believe it- he had landed a hit! "Hey look I did too!" He threw his arms up happily, "We're both good!"
Dropping his arms he watched Keanu, his tail flicking, "You wanna go first this time? I went twice, only fair."
