Well I'm picturing a gret hall of book selves all with references to herbs, runes, tools, spells ect. Each book case all most reaching up to the long arched ceiling that stretches across the room with Runes of peace and knowledge painted in gold and suns, moons and stars and a great stainedglass sky roof of the god and goddess. The normal window across the walls will contain stained glass images of the common pictures found on the Tarot cards. The desk for issuing books will be ancient and priceless it will be made of thick oak wood and have all kinds of scratches and marks on it. On the side where the issuer would sit, along the rim there a protection runes engraved into the wood. The desks for reading at would be made of oak aswell and would be new and polished with wodden chairs that have protection runes ingraved on the legs. The floor would be made of normal tree wood, cut, not polished, like to cause splinters. The walls made of old oak The roof made of new oak that looks unpolished but grand.
That's all I can come up with sweatdrop

Nothing posh, but lots of books... The books are stained and ripped and overflowing from the shelves because there are far too many... The stains and rips are not from poor treatment, but from lots of use. The place isnt in great shape, partly because all the money put into it goes into more books and shelves, and partly because it is so used. Its never crowded, but never empty, so you have privacy and quiet, but are not alone and have people to ask for help, or just to talk to... people who are warm, inviting, nice and helpful. It has a generally warm and homely atmosphere and sometimes people will come, not to read or research specifically but for leasure or to escape from the outside world... It also has a sparal staircase leading to a smaller room, with and a great big wood fire. (I love wood fires! gas ones just arent the same... I love the dry cozy heat they give off... i love the smell too, and watching them... Infinately better than any gas fire I've ever been near) and ratty old furnature around the walls (you know how expensive furnature is good, but ratty old 2nd hand stuff is always more comfortable? I love that). The whole place smells of pleasant, calming incense and wood smoke. there are also rooms with locks where people or groups can cast circles with candle holders, things to hold books in, things to represent the elements (if you don't bring your own) and a small book shelf set into the wall for you to keep books for use in the circle, but don't leave there afterwards. The floors of these rooms are also wood, but are untreated and there is chalk for you to use to draw your physical boundary. The rooms are locked when in use, and are often used for both coven gatherings and individual use.
EDIT: Changed spelling error and added a bit to post... I also need to update more often... Writing about this is kinda fun...

My ideas are completly different I'm afraid... sweatdrop
Everyone elses are great, love 'em.
Well, I have a few ideas. One of which is that we wouldn't have one, as MagicMurray can't seem to get many book titles out of people.
The other, would be like a holodeck type thing from Star Trek.. although I guess that that isn't entirely physically, so I'll go away now... xp

Don't be afraid to make your post longer and talk about it as much as you'd like... I'd like to hear more, I mean... That's what the thread's about. Don't be afraid to disagree either. It's more fun that way smile

Oki doki.. Well, if you've ever seen an episode of Star Trek, you'll know what I'm wittering on about.
Basically, it's like a cell with a computer program installed that will project hard copy images around.
Firstly, it would be in plain state with the NPC Rina (?) there to ask what type of info you wanted to access. (A library is a collection of areas, not just a section on something, ya know.) You would select what you desired, then everything would flicker for a moment.
You would be transported to a meadow type thing, with a circle of trees surrounding, complete with bird song. There would be a steaming drink of your choice (or frozen, because I presume coke steaming wouldn't be too nice) on a little circular coffee table, we a reeeaaallly comfy chairs, depending on whether you visited alone or with friends.
The books would be piled on the grass, with a button nearby to exit, or too search the books. A stream would run by, and some incense (of your choice of course) would be burning.
The books themselves wouldn't be falling apart, as the holodeck would partially 'clean' them. They would show signs of wear and tear, yes.. but not completley consumed by chaos.
Well, that would be where I would be projected to. Depending on your element, it would project you to somewhere else.
Did I make sense...?

-Cowers- meeeep!
Me... I dunno...
The room is naturally lit by the stained glass windows at the top of the four walls, each wall depicting a different element- Fire in the South, Earth in the North, Water in the West, and Air in the East. The windows are quite high up, to allow for book cases to line the walls, but the light streams through the windows with a soft glow, making it easy on the eyes to read by. At night, the room is lit by candles in wall mounted candelabras, with the occaisional candle cluster on top of the shelves, to even things out in between the walls. The shelves are made of a dark wood, and are a little taller than I am (a brilliant indication xd ). The titles range from herbs to stones to runes to divination and elements and spells and dreams, an old books of shadows, donated by other witches for our use. There is no particular ordering system for the books, other than being in categorys such as those stated above, and one could spend months shut away in here, marvelling at the wonders these pages hold. Here and there, you find an old comfy armchair with a tall, ground mounted candleabra next to it, and occaisionally the shelves around the walls take a break to allow a sturdy wooden desk and a comfortable chair, for more dedicated research.
That's all I can think of for now, anyway...

Yeah- the windows is an idea I really love. I'll probably make some windows like it (all my arty-craftyness ninja ) for a room dedicated to Magick in a future home...
