MANIFESTO

In a world of mainstream, sub and counter cultures, attitudes change quickly. The Skeleton Crew ideology is to design and create products that sculpt a new way of living. We are pioneering an infectious sustainable culture involving music, clothing, art and literature. In each endeavor, we promise to infuse our value of hard work and dedication to a cause much larger than personal gain. Some of our proceeds will be donated to an organization of the contributing artist's choice - because we believe that everyone has a responsibility to make a change in their lifetime. As individuals who have been influenced by the movements of creative minds, our goal is to contribute to the spawning of unique independent thinkers who live everyday like it's their last.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Skeleton Crew is a record label, book publisher, and clothing design company. If we're going to do it, we might as well do it all. Skeleton Crew Records will put out limited edition releases, colored vinyl, picture discs, and things I would want as a record collector. Basically whatever the band wants to do, we will put out. Some of the bands you might have heard of, some of the bands you might not have. The one thing they will all have in common is that we like them, which means they are worth checking out. Skeleton Crew Publications will release books written or illustrated by musicians, artists, athletes, and just all around interesting people who have something to say. We are creating a different forum where art and ideas can be presented. With media some of these artists have not experimented with or explored yet. We will not censor any of the artists, they will have full reign over what they create. Last, but not least, is Skeleton Crew Clothing. This is not a t-shirt company! We'll type it again if you didn't read it the first timethis is not a t-shirt company. We have nothing against t-shirts, some of our best friends wear them, and we enjoy them as well. All I'm trying to say is that Skeleton Crew is a clothing design company; we are in the process of developing a fall/winter line that will involve more than just screen printed t-shirts. You will be able to wear nothing but Skeleton Crew products for weeks straight to any occasion or destination and never think twice about whether your uniform is comfortable, appropriate, or fashionable. The designs are rad, if we must say so. There are teasers on the website for you right now, but well keep you in anticipation of the clothes for a little bit longer. This is a business that has a greater good in mind, Skeleton Crew will donate a portion of all profits to different charitable organizations, decided upon by the artists we work with.

David Costa was born in hammond indianna on oct 13th 1980. He began writing poetry and songs at the ripe young age of 12. Inpired by songwriters such as tupac shakur, mike patton, michael jackson, and axl rose, costa takes on a unique approach to hip hop. His honesty, agressiveness and unique rhymes and flow take you on a journey through life, love, lust, and death. David Costa touches on a number of different social, spiritual, and philosophical topics while telling the story of a tortured spirit trapped within the soul of an aspiring young artist. Costa is currently in the studio finishing his debut cd ep for skeleton crew entitled "A Dream...And A Plan.", the first chapter in costa's epic tale of The Starving Artist.

The mean reds were a 5 piece band from tuscon arizona. kyle, anthony, miles, wilson, and nick put on some of the best shows i have ever seen and will ever see. The mean reds are the reason i decided to start skeleton crew recordings, in hopes that i would be able to work with them in some capacity. in their short lived career they recorded 3 albums for record collection (www.recordcollectionmusic.com). "Destination Imagination", "Some Sort of Adventure Through History", and their final full length "Together At Last And This Is Our Wedding", these records are available through record collection's website. they also did a split cd ep/dvd with wires on fire, available on buddy head records (www.buddyhead.com). Skeleton Crew recordings present the bands final release "the Halloween LP", on a 10 inch picture disc. It is not often that you find a band that inspires you, and everytime i saw the mean reds I knew i was witnessing something special. If you were lucky enough to see this band while they were around you uunderstand what im talking about. the mean reds were one of my favorite bands of all time, and i am proud to put out their final recording.

A four piece indie rock band hailing from San Diego california, Hot Like (a) Robot has released 3 records and toured their asses off for the past four years. "SKY" (2001), their first full length, and "The EVIL E.P." (2003) were released by the band on their own, and may still be found in local record stores in the san diego area, if you look hard enough. The third release, "Hurry Up and Die", was released by Criterion Records, and can be aquired through Revelation Records (www.revhq.com). Hot Like (a) Robot is currently in the studio finishing up their full length release for Skeleton Crew, tentativly entitled "Virginite". 14 new songs from a band that reminds you why you love music.

Ladies and Gentlemen of The Skeleton Crew Family,
We have officially landed back in New Jersey! Here is an abridged version of our worldwide adventures for your reviewing pleasure.

England- After meticulous stewing in preparation for the Give it A Name Festival, Jamia and I arrived in England with bright hopes of being able to take over the country in Crew Type Fashion. Not only were we looking forward to two days at our booth having all kinds of awesome merchandise to dole out- but the Lovely Morrissey was playing at Alexandria Palace! Friday afternoon some pretty drastic news reached us that we might not be able to sell at Earl?s Court, even though we were under the notion that everything had been handled. After hours of patience and small bursts of communication to and fro with the promoters, our problem had been slightly taken care of by Saturday morning. NO, we didn?t get our own booth at the festival- but YES, we did get to sell our shirts alongside the other bands at the festival which was fine with us. Jamia and I were diligently passing out stickers, gift packs and flyers to kids around the festival grounds. It was really great to see tons of our friends and be able to make new ones the whole day around! Saturday night Jamia then decided she would take the word up north, and ventured to Manchester, but I stayed true to London and got a chance to hang out all day and enjoy the entirety of the festival promoting skeleton crew and hanging out tons! After GIAN, our London trip involved Morrissey ( brilliant?!?!) 5 pound vegan thai buffet ( soooo goood) and going to Crobar and other spots to see friends and soak in London Town.

Upon Arriving Home- we were headed for Bamboozle, A local festival in New Jersey, where we would get to see awesome bands and really have a booth this time. Jamia, Vinny and I got to the grounds at 9am (after circling the parking lot for 15 minutes trying to find the entrance) and had a pretty decent spot in from of the Linc?s A stage. We spent all night before crafting a gorgeous sign (that we proudly displayed our merchandise on at the booth), and getting all of the merchandise together so we were a bit tired at this hour of the morning, but the fest went off without a hitch! The only slight bummer of the weekend was the mysterious new entrance that needed to be built, putting our friends in ordinary clothing in the middle of the vendor area, and when morning of day 2 came around, they had moved us to a different spot than we were placed the previous day. But with all that aside, we wanted to thank each and everyone of you who came and supported us by even just saying Hello and picking up a sampler! Without you this weekend would?ve been rubbish!

So Now leading us to being back home, David Costa?s ?A Dream.. and A Plan? just came out, and let us tell you- the dude really is the future of hip hop. It doesn?t matter what kind of music you identify with, His blend of Hip Hop with raw emotion is enough to get this CD stuck in your player for hours on end! Maybe even weeks! Pick it up on our webstore, you wont be dissatisfied, promise!!! We just got in some new designs to post on our webstore and are brewing up a few more goodies to be premiered in a few weeks!
Thank you?s go out to John Dawkins, Hayley Connelly, Caz Madge and Jim, Rich Jones Johnny Phillips, Big Ben and Rhys, everyone at Ordinary Clothing, and anyone we shook hands with, passed a sticker out to or if you bought something from us at one of these amazing fests! Without you it would be impossible to continue on!

Until next time Crew-e-teers,
Sara and the S//c Extravaganza.
