But United States force and threat of war is probably keeping them down from making a big move towards union of Korea

And also, it's partially the U.S.'s fault that Korea split. well, that was obvious. unification will make us equal to Germany in terms of population, we could even get to about 100 million because the economy boom will encourage a population boom as well. we'll move up in the economic ranks. SK is at 10th. with a unified korea, we'll move up even more after an economic recovery
