"Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which." UPDATE: Nathan's power ended up directly conflicting with the very wonderful Quixana. So, after much deliberation and thought I have finally created a new power (much thanks to ShortGreen). Anyhow, the new power can be found under the powers section and it's important to note that Nathan's manipulation tactics are more a personality trait. Now it's inevitable, he's a conniving, manipulative kid! Poor us.
Please, please, come in, make yourself at home, break open a cup of tea, do a little dance, and read!
The following that you are about to dive into is my concept for a Fee Dee. And now I'm sure you're rolling your eyes going "duh, we're in the guild", well! I just wanted to state my reasons of why in the world I'm doing what I am with the excerpt I have.
You see, I did not see the competition and go "oh man! I need an excerpt and a character!!" I really had no intention whatsoever of joining. Well, that's not completely true, I was looking for excerpt's that really hit home and made me feel inspired to join, but it didn't happen. I don't know what made me wake up and realize the perfect excerpt was sitting right before my eyes, but something did, and that is why I'm here now.
Because, I have found one of my favorite excerpts of all time and I wanted to do this excerpt the greatest decency that can be done- immortalising it (at least in my heart) through a character. And yes, the "title" is most certainly my excerpt.Because sometimes it takes more than words Anyway! I'm sure you definitely want to know your way around, so here comes the...
N A V I G A T I O N
1) Introduction 2) All about the Forgotten and Daemon 3) The guardian and lifestyle 4) Q & A 5) Excerpt Explanation 6) Reserved, just in case 7) My thanks

You have a question and I have an answer... What the heck's up with the banners? Is Nathan a shiney freak or something?
Quite possibly, but the gold stacks more represent greed than anything. And, if you've been paying attention, greed will eventually lead to Nathan's downfall (who knows the exact circumstance), and big juicy plot stories. And! The flying pigs I figured I'd add in there just because the excerpt has pigs, which connects directly to Impossible and the excerpt and a lot of the concept. Plus, our little Piglet needs some representin'!
Speaking of Impossible, does her name have any relevance? She seems quite possible!
That's my point exactly! Beside her silver hooves, Impossible is as possible as any piglet gets. I thought the contrast between name and character would be nifty and, it's almost like a reality check for Nathan. Impossible isn't an outlandish, eccentric piggy out to ruin his life. Rather, she's quite humble and ordinary, nothing like the pigs in the quote.
Alternate Nathan? What'd you create him for?
Because no kid wants to set out and destroy the universe, or at least his life, Nathan needs a much bigger, badder personality pushing him to go over the edge. Actually, Alternate Nath is, in a way, a representation the spirit of one of the pigs- ruthless, cruel, and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Perhaps one of the spirits did attach themselves to Nathan upon his creation. Alternate Nathan will be the one to lead Nath to his demise and is the center of one too many pieces of bad news. However, thanks to Nathan's strong will, he will never completely take over Nathan's body (or if he does blah blah blah, plottings here, people! Fill in the blanks).
So we get that Impossible loves Nathan and all, but how is she around others?
The fact of the matter is, Impossible hovers around Nathan, specifically his knee, and doesn't interact much at all. After all, she knows she steals some of Nathan's attention and that this "stealing" truly bothers him, so she tries to stay out of the way. When she does interact she is quite nice, shy, timid, but definitely nothing like her Forgotten. She is truly caring and compassionate and is a very good listener.
Wow, Nath sounds pretty evil, will he even get along with anyone else?
Of course! Nathan is all about interaction. Around others, especially his peers, he is quite pleasant! Sure, a little cocky, but he knows how to have a good time. The kid's all about fun and excitment and socialising is definitely no problem. The only problem is when other people question his ability, superiority (yes, he does think he is superior), or just flat out dislike him.
So, any chance you'll explain what the excerpt is about?
Surely, just move on to the next post. Hopefully there it will fully demistify itself for ya.
If Nathan hadn't been born into a rich family and become spoiled rotten then nothing bad would've happened, right?
Actually, no. The pig spirit, or alternate Nathan, dwells inside of the boy. It would surely find a way to show itself and it would probably be even more ferocious because Nathan would be starting from the bottom. Nathan could've been a beggar, a hippy, an ordinary kid and the same ultimate fate would have occured. The only thing class really changes is how he gets there and by doing what.
So Nathan's a smarty pants, right?
Actually, no, not at all! Well, there are two types of smarts in my book, book smart and street smart. Nathan would be the latter. He knows how to get around, to deal with people. That's his talent, understanding body motion and what people want to hear, not being ridiculously intelligent. Nathan is, by no means, smart. He could care less what carbon 14 is and why the world is round.
It's all about people, baby.
-ask a question and it might find its way up here-

it's excerpt explainin' time! It seems like everyone in the whole wide Fee Dee world has read "Animal Farm" and knows George Orwell, but this part here is a little background to the excerpt so you can see what I mean by "the pigs" and what they have "become". Also, I'll definitely have a little speel of excerpt luff at the end, just because it rocks my socks that hard.
So, the book is a satire of the Russian Revolution. You know, where they converted to Communism. Anywhosles, the story is about a farm. On the farm, the pigs are the smartest, the horses the most hard working (excluding Mollie), the dogs the second smartest, and everybody else is jsut a participant. The head pig, Old Major, tells the farm that they must revolt against the humans and start their own farm. Excited for change and aware of the poor conditions, the animals are very eager about this. Old Major passes away and two pigs, Napolean and Snowball, take his place.
Eventually the farm is overrun (and it's suprisingly easy!). Snowball and Napolean share joint control of the farm and all the animals work together to make an efficient lifestlye, they even write down concrete rules for everyone to follow and refer to. Until, Snowball and Napolean have a disagreement. To settle this disagreement? Napolean chases Snowball away with dogs he's been training to be his guards. From that point forward, the animals know something is up.
Rules begin being changed in the middle of the night. Pigs take superiority over all animals and refuse to work, and rules are being heavily broken. For example, one rules said never to walk on two feet. Toward the latter end of the book, the pigs have taught themselves how to perform this manuever. With these pigs treating the animals like so, life seems to resemble life with the humans, sometimes even worse (for now there are killings for no specific reason!).
Where does my excerpt come in? It is the very very very last paragraph where the pigs are meeting up with the farmers. They're decked out in full clothes, sitting up, laughing, drinking, joking, defying every original law. And then George Orwell goes to write:As George Orwell "Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which." Ahhh, I just love it so much. Anyhow! That's the story! So all in all, the pigs told the animals to work toward a better future and slowly they twisted the situation around to make the animals' circumstance the same, but in their favor.
Now the love part. The excerpt, like I stated, was the very last paragraph of the book. I didn't edit a single thing! Now, is that not the best ending of your lifetime? I remember I lvoed it because it made everything so simple, severed the story so cleanly. I remember as I read it I got goose bumps. Anyhow! George orwell is amazing for writing such a thing and I just had to have a love section because it was such an amazing ending to an amazing book.
Thank you Mr. Orwell!

And finally, my thank you's! Thank you:
Phoo and Lizzy: for creating this amazing concept and making many wonderful dreams become realities.
The image makers: because I certainly didn't take pictures of coins or draw piggys!
The excerpt writer: the excerpt didn't pop out of thin air!
My muse: because I know you're out there somewhere! And I couldn't have done it without ya, haha.
AND MY AMAZING CRITTERS! Seriously, without ALL of your feedback and wonderful insights I wouldn't be here with the concept I have. Thanks for appreciating Nathan, loving impossible, and helping me out step by step. And also reading your eyes out XD.
ShortGreen: Because without you I wouldn't have thought up the new power! Even though you didn't have to you helped me plot and brainstorm a new power. Thank you so much!
Thank you all again, I can never say it enough! And best of luck to us all, eh?
