It wasn't odd to find Medeine wandering through the woods at any time of day, and this was one such time. In fact, she'd never gone this far in, or at least, not in THIS forest. It'd taken her a few hours to reach it, but she was slowly walking along the edge of a cliff, balancing in a manner sure to give any reasonable adult a heartattack. Luckily, Deine was neither an adult, nor reasonable.
Peering over the cliff occasionally, she glanced back toward the trees, and up ahead, something caught her eye... Something large, on the ground... Something... Was that a chest of some sort? What was it doing out HERE?
... Time to go see. With a gleeful smile, the forest bride practically skipped to the thing, kneeling before it and analyzing it carefully. Pretty box.

"I wouldn't touch that, if I were you," Murmured a familiar voice, and if Medeine would turn, there would be no one there.
Just a voice on the wind...

Medeine WOULDN'T turn, and she simply laughed, the sound tinkling and pure.
"Thee art NAUGHT me, therefore, I shall touch."
And she did, split-seconds later, the girl's slim fingers were running over the pretty wood, reaching for the latch, which surprisingly, was unlocked, and moved up easily. Next was the lid, and she peered into the box expectantly, blue eyes sparkling with curiousity.

A laugh, as the Piper all out grinned at her. "You cannot escape what you were born for, you fool." A pause, and he leapt down from the tree, leaning against the trunk in a leisurely manner.
"The Fable herself is gone... I suggest you put that lid back on. We do not want to find out what else Tasius has been keeping in his box..."

"The Drowsy Lord...? 'Tis his chest?"
Well, then. Medeine's slim fingers stroked the wood, and she narrowed blue eyes at the Piper, not liking the smiling man on instinct. And she liked most people.
"Thee art not whom I would wish for company. Perchance thee shall tell me what I hath been born for? 'Tis not I that is foolish, dear sir, but perhaps thy own smiling self."
But back to the box, away from the creepy guy. What HAD Tasius been keeping in here? And who was the Fable, herself? The blonde's facial expression shifted to confusion briefly as she caught a swift movement, a glint, deep within the darkness of the box, that disappeared just as quickly as it had shown itself. Huh.

"The Drowsy Lord, indeed." An eyebrow raised, and the Piper stood up fully. "I'll make it blunt... you were born to marry." The stoic look returned, and the Piper didn't let his eyes waver from her. Nor the box.
"Close the box, Medeine."

"... I am not one to obey, dear sir, for I believe thee are terribly mistaken. For if none other doth know of this... Fable... I shall flee from it, and be saved."
She stood, a clear look of defiance blazing in the blue eyes that grew darker every day, and she suddenly flashed him a fiercely pretty grin.
"Ah, for 'tis the opposite that I shall become, and thee cannot stop such a thing."
Tales changed each time they were told, didn't they? The blonde's foot pushed the lid farther open, and she stalked past the Piper, arm brushing his as she headed back the way she'd come.
"Shut it thyself."

The Piper smirked, letting her pass, as he chuckled behind her.
"You are the largest fool of them all." And with that, the Piper's footsteps could be heard leaving, the shuffling of leaves parting to the side as he drug his feet. A bad habit, really, but it marked that he felt not a bit of terror or fear of her.
Medeine was no match for the Piper, even in wit.

02 - THE ROADTRIP Mexico was getting boring. After those nice college students had stopped in Cancun, Medeine and Aekepi had parted ways with the girls, and were currently in a gas station store, wandering the aisles. The blonde had managed to gather quite a bit of money, and was happily spending it, pointing out with her usual wonder the odd processed snacks.
"Dear Aekepi, what is this herb? Maltodextrin? Or this, Sodium Aluminum Sulfate? 'Tis not poison...?"
"Nooo... but it's not an herb, either. It's a manmade chemical - one of 'ems for coloring, and the other one... I THINK is a flavoring..." He looked at the snacks with a wary eye, and chose a bag of York-bites. One of his favorite candies was a York peppermint pattie. He hadn't had one in a long while. Vaguely, he realized that his fathers were probably trying to wean him off sweets, and laughed softly as he paid for that, and a coke. "Got what you need, 'Deine?"
"Oh, yes, Aekepi, I think I-"
The mountain of machine produced snacks and beverages tumbled from her arms as her eyes widened behind her shades, and Medeine's jaw dropped slightly.
"-Want to get closer to that!"
Without another word, she shoved open the store's door, the bells tinkling, and strode over the sand toward... A dock. And a beautiful white ship. The man behind the counter made a cry of despair at the mess on the floor, and rolled his eyes at Aekepi.
"... Women. She's cute, kid, but kinda crazy. Gonna go after her? I think she's checkin' out the Forager..."
"The Forager?" he asked, as he paid for their snacks, and the mess. "What's that?"
"Ship. Sails pretty much between Mexico 'n Austrailia though."
The man began to clean up Medeine's mess, and squinted out the shop window.
"... Flighty one, ain't she? 'pears like she's bout to run off without ya."
She was indeed a free spirit, and now, was on the dock, staring up at the ship with something close to adoration in her eyes. A large sailor spotted her and grinned, coming to kneel in front of her and kiss one of her hands.
"Hey there, sweetlin', y'like sailin'?"
"Ah, but sir, I've naught the chance to attempt it!"
"Y'should board up 'n get a ticket then!"
"... Indeed..."
"Eh... give me two tickets. Might as well give her what she wants." He set down the last of his cash for the tickets, and grinned at the store-keeper. "Heh.... you know something?"
"Alrighty youngin', y'kin have those tickets."
After the exchange was complete, the man rested against his broom and raised an eyebrow.
"I know plenty o' somethin's... Got somethin' ta add to my knowledge?"
"I think I love her."
The man, 'Robert' read his nametag, simply chuckled and shook his head slowly.
"Well, then... You'd better catch up with her. Best wishes, boy."
Turning his back on Aekepi, the man entered the backroom of his ministore.
He turned, and ran out the door, catching up with her, and sticking a ticket into her hand, along with the candy and drink she'd bought. "Here - I knew you were going to ask."
Blue eyes sparkled as her face lit up, and she promptly broke off conversation with the sailor to throw her arms around her best friend's neck.
"Aekepi! Thee art a true companion! I would indeed love to stand upon the waters of salt!"
Leading the way up the plank to the dwindling line, they seemed to be boarding right on time. This ship? It was leaving quickly, and heading... To Austrailia. They were going to end up a LONG way from home.
Take that, Piper.
Of course, Aekepi had no idea why Medeine had truely wanted to leave her home for such an extended period of time.
Once aboard, he leaned back against one of the rails, and stared out into the sea. He sighed, and flicked an ear. "So.... what are we going to do when we get to Australia, 'Deine'? It's a long way, you know... a really long way..." He looked across at her, and smiled. His eyes held some emotion in them, but that changed when he blinked.
A charming smile, and the girl rested her head on Aekepi's should, laughing softly and unlocking her gaze from his to let it float out to the ocean.
"... Whatever moves us, dear Aekepi."
Once they got there... She'd tell him what the Piper had told her.
He looked up over his shoulder at the girl he loved, and sighed, letting his hand trail through her hair, and cursing the fact that he was shy as anything. If only he could tell her... If only! "Mmmm... sounds pretty exciting. But I don't really think there's much to DO in good ol' Aussie... is there?"
Shifting so her arms rested on the rail, and her cheek on her arms, she raised her eyebrows at him, laughter playing in her eyes.
"Why, Aekepi! I've naught been! Who am I to tell thee of the country's wonders?"
While she cared a lot about her friend, loved him, as she loved all things dear to her, she had no idea to his feelings. After all, a while back, he'd confessed his crush on another... Boy.
"Do you want to go down below, and get some shuteye for a bit? It IS going to be a long ride..."
"... I'd enjoy that. As long as thee stay close to me. 'Tis not wise for us to separate."
A quick grin, and the girl led the way to the cabin assigned on their tickets.

03 - AEKEPI'S POISON When they landed in Australia, Aeka was feeling at least halfway excited already - he was very knowledgeable about the place, but he was sure he could manage. "Where do you want to go first, 'Deine?"
Yawning, the girl shifted her glasses on the bridge of her nose, and looked around, surveying the country.
"... Crocodile wrestling!"
He grinned a bit, and walked over to where they were doing said activity. "Think I could do that, 'Deine?"
Medeine's blue eyes turned serious, and she gripped his arm firmly, gaze on the idiots in the pen.
"Thou shalt not try such a ridiculous act."
A click of her tongue made a disparaging noise, and she promptly led him away from the tourist area, expression curious.
"... Perhaps we shall do some... Exploring?"
"That sounds great!" He grinned, and put an arm around her. "Where to, then?"
A quick raise of her gaze found a guide's shop, and she blinked rapidly.
"How incredibly convienant..."
Strolling in with a smile, she led them to the counter, and raised an eyebrow at the woman standing there.
"We'd enjoy exploring your country's wilds, Lady."
He nodded, and fished out his wallet - he'd earned some money doing odd jobs for the captain while they were aboard the ship.
Medeine, however, was the faster draw, and had several twenties slapped down on the counter before Aekepi could open his wallet. Let's just say there was a clinic by Indu's house that loved fresh herbs. A way that both Jan and Medeine earned money.
The woman behind the counter laughed as if she saw this everyday, and nodded, dinging a bell on the counter, and calling a teenage boy from the back.
"Kori. Show them the sites, alright?"
They'd bought themselves a guide.
He looked over at the truck the guide would be using - not QUIIITE trusting the 'junker-looking' vehicle. He tapped 'Deine. "You sure about this?"
"Most of lives adventures are caused by that which is unsure, dear Aekepi. With that said, no, I am not."
Kori opened the truck for the two, and walked around the other side to start the engine, and after they slid in, drove them through Sydney for about an hour, showing them tourist attractions, before taking them to the waterline.
"We always end our tours here, enjoy the beach, some of the whitest sand you'll ever find."
And he was gone.
He manuevered into the shallow portion, the part of the beach just inching into a small stream. "'DEINE! It's a platypus! Come see!"
"You are not... Pulling of my leg?!"
Medeine obviously was only sort of getting the phrases used commonly in modern speech, but was getting there. The young girl hurried over, bending down happily. The creature stared at them, rather undignified with it's bill.
"... Why, thou art an odd thing!"
It was a male. Which meant, poisonous spines on the backs of his hindlegs...
"I'm going to go catch it - I've never seen ANYTHING like that thing before."
"I do not know if that is a good idea..."
This was said under her breath as he continued in the action of capturing the dorky, seemingly harmless creature. She knew things were often not as they appeared and... The platypus made a sort of screeching noise, and smacked Aekepi with it's tail, before digging it's spines into the boy's arms as it was lifted.
"AAH! SUNNUVA!" He dropped the thing, and winced, hard. "Stupid thing bit me!"
"Oh, no...."
Her fingers lightly touched the puncture wounds on his arm, and pulled back as a liquid oozed out.
"... 'Tis no bite, dear one... Poison... We must go to a place of healing."
Or, in modern terms, a hospital.
He hissed, and pulled away from her. The pain was excruciating. It was making it hard to stay conscious. He started to weave a bit as he walked.
Spotting someone on the beach, she called out to them, and reached for Aekepi, catching him just as he passed out.
When he awoke, they were in a small, ethnic hospital, her worried face above his.
"Aekepi...? They say I must find thee herb. I know it well, but it grows in only one part of this land... I must leave thee if thee art to live. Forgive me."
Without another word, Medeine kissed him on the forehead and straightened, heading toward the door.
"I will return soon, dear one."
He tried to get up to go after her - but the pain was too extreme. Before he had uttered a single syllable - he fainted again, slumping back onto the bed he'd been put in, eyes closed, and out cold.
