>>Shivering in an old box at the end of his home alley, the little kitten poked out his white nose<< Mom... >>it was misty mornings like this, that reminded him so of his mother. It had been a day similar to this one, when he was just a new born, that his mother left for food...and never came back. He never strayed far from his little box now except for food...there was a chance that she may come back. There had to be! But deep down...he knew he was truely alone<< Awww! What a cute kitty! >>Immediatly he bristled, watching the little girl advance on him. He let a low growl out<< Shhh...shhh, it's okay kitty. See? You can have my milk. >>Gently she set down the glass of milk she had been carrying to drink on the way to her friends<< Like I always say drink milk to grow up big and strong! >>cautiously, he crawled to the cup, keeping as low to the ground as possible. The kitten peered inside, sniffed it, then took a lick<< eek It's GOOD! >>he thought, eyes going wide. Then his stomach growled and he fairly devoured the milk<< >>She laughed<< see? Everythings okay! I just turned fifteen today and have been getting so many presents...well, I thought it might be nice for me to give someone else something! Ivy! Who are you talking to? >>she smiled apologeticly to the feline<< sorry. I really got to go now. Bye...Ivel. No one ma! I'm on my way to sarah's! >>with that, the girl ran off<< ....Ivel? >>he blinked before going back to his box<<

>>Slowly Ivel walked from his box to the awaiting canned cat food. Soon he would be big enough to go hunting himself, but for now he could rely a bit on Ivy. Strange girl. He devoured his food, blue eyes shinning. He had grown since the first time she had seen him with her care. In a way he was becoming a housekitty, though he never let the child pet him. Oddly she was content on just watching him play by himself or eat the food that she brought. Strange girl indeed. He walked back into his box and curled up for a nap<<

>>A soft noise interrupted his slumber, breaking his dreamland. His light blue eyes slowly opened and he crawled out of his small box, streatching. As curious as a kitten can be, he walked to the edge of his alleyway and peered out. Monsters flew on by on cold cement, making him stiffen. Bad idea!<<

Why did boredom always bring the she-cat toward those damned human's nests? Avani could never understand why her feet led her there, but alas, she had already arrived. Maybe she could catch one of those silly little birds that splashed so innocently in the water basins the people left out. Yes. That could work...

On silent cream colored feet, the amber tabby made her way along side the picket fencing of some random home. Fur brushed against bushes and long grassed tickled her stomach as she moved. But as soon as sh had walked past the fence, she found herself in an ally. Quite random that fact was, but who ever understood the way humans set up their living spaces? Idiots.

These new surroundings did suit Avani more so. This was where she thrived; allies with old boxes, trashcans, and running little mice. Mice were better than birds, less feathering. As the female mossied along, she gave a sudden pause as a crow cawed and lifted into the air. When it was out of sight, and after it's downy feathers fell softly to the ground, amber eyes spotted something up ahead. Something....green?

>>Eyes wide he tried to press closer to the wall. The instant the big feline had appeared he had tried to hide. But then that crow...heh, wouldn't have worked anyway probably. He didn't exactly blend. With her gaze on him he cringed slightly. This was only the third feline he had ever seen and she was so much bigger then him...<<

Avani rose a brow in some confusment towards the kitten's reaction. Was she really that scary? She certainly wasn't ugly...Hmph.

"Um...I'm not going to hurt you, you know," she stated quite plainly as she sat down on her haunches. Two-toned tassle twitched behind her while amber orbs kept a steady gaze. She was being nice, but mainly only because this runt was most likely a stray. Strays were good on her list. Housekitties not so much.

...Who...who are you? >>He softly asked. The other may not be his mother, but she didn't outright attack him either. Not yet anyway<<

"Avani," again she replied in a simple tone before going into some depth, "I'm a stray and I don't like housekitties...are you a housekitty?" she asked while bringing her face right up to the small one's. She was pretty sure on the answer to her own question, but hey, why not ask.

o_o >>he quickly shook his head<< n-no...I'm a stray. Ivel. >>He tried to scooch away from her, the others face so close. bbbuuutttt he had no where to go<<

"Good." She said with laid back ears and half lidded eyes before drawing away from Ivel. Looking up and down the ally, Avani resumed to ask, "why are you living so close to the main street?" It was a silly place to live. So many of those tin monsters zooming by and all, it was a wonder that the emeral kit was still alive.

>>His gaze suddenly went from fearful and wary to soft and sad<< I'm waiting...for mom. If I go...she wont be able to find me.
PostPosted: Mon Jul 31, 2006 2:10 pm

Avani tilted her head, ears falling just slightly as if she were about to give some sort of soothing answer...Wrong. "She's not coming back," she said in a matter-o-fact tone. The female never had the right way with words with these situations...

>>At this his eyes widened to as far as they could go before he tightly shut them, his tail wrapping around his small form<< I know...I just...hope.
PostPosted: Mon Jul 31, 2006 2:23 pm

The female tabby let her wings buzz slightly as she shook her head. "Hope isn't going to help when the answer it already clear," she stated.

Sometimes...fake hope is all that keeps you going. >>He had nothing to his life. He was a stray cat barely surviving on the scraps that a little human girl fed him. Ivel had no siblings or friends and constantly lived in fear. It wasn't safe to be a lone kitten outside, expecially so near to where the monsters lived. But he had to hold on for his mother<<
