Still, after reading this I don't understand why people hate us so much. confused
I know the bible talks about persecution, but still... why does it have to be hate?

Any reasons?

People like that just can't give up their sinful natures and refuse to listen to anyone who would possibly make them stop what they enjoy. They have no idea about the peace and joy that Christ gives us and may never. There are people like that all over the world that have somehow become so selfish that they do not listen to reason and continue to be children no matter what age they are. I pity those people, but there isn't a whole lot we can do about them. The best we can do is continue living our lives as God desires us to and be prepared to answer any questions they might have.

It's a bit difficult to comprehend the mind and ways of thinking of an unbeliever after you become a Christian. After all, you've laid down your old ways and everything you believe in contradicts everything that people like these are saying.

"If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new."
-2 Corinthians 5:17

It's not that he completely despises all Christians. I'll bet that somewhere in the back of his head, this guy knows that stereotypes are always wrong on some level or another because you cannot define a whole group made up by separate and different individuals with one set personality. He may have only been exposed to one type (for lack of a better word) of Christian. I do hope that one days, someone another Christian or anyone just comes along and shows him the right way.

I find it interesting that after he says such a thing, he will not listen to what we would have to say in order to defend our position. Not like we would have to. Our position is held and we know it is. We do not need to defend. I made the mistake of mentioning the Heaven and Hell part of life and spiritual existence to my friend too. Now she thinks I hate her and damning her to Hell. I did not want to say that yet but she asked me "Why she needed to be saved" so I told her why.

I do remember when it was fun to do whatever I wanted to. But as Paul says, I did not know what was wrong until the law was created and taught to him.

Yes there is a bad stereotype about Christians. It took me awhile to get over it myself to profess my faith publicly. Because it is to be taught to our children Jesus has to be, seen only in one light. Healer, miracle worker, loving, faithful, servant. Not as the warrior, spiritually, and rebel against the norms of the time. What we are called to be. Loving, servants, to our highest King, to do what he commands, rebel against the sinful norms for what is right.

If we are persecuted so much more for the glory of Christ.

But a non-believer has to have SOME concept of belief in SOME higher power before they will believe anything. If they believe only in themselves, in the now, I do pity them.

Lastly, though it is not fun, it is just, for we have a just God,

Proverbs 25

21 If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat;
if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.

22 In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head,
and the LORD will reward you.

23 As a north wind brings rain,
so a sly tongue brings angry looks.

And in Matthew 5

43"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'
44But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

he hates the ones who try and shove God down his throat which they shouldnt. They should talk to him but not be pushy about it. You cant give somebody faith by forcin them to.

I think we brign it on ourselves by being too forcefull with people who just don't want to follow God. we can't force them to hear the good news nor should we ever try when God is ready he'll open thier hearts. unless He tells you in advance to go up and preach to some one don't do it.
oh and haters hate because they don't know Love.

It sure is hard to tell someone about Christ when someone else is is being counter productive. That just means we have to try that much harder to reinform the masses.

oppen warfare has gotten us very little in the last few years, granted it does work but rather than push our belifs that much harder i think we should go guerrila. sap the forces of the enemy from and angle they cant forsee rather than coming to open combat with the demons.
