All right, pretty much everyone should know the story but here goes:
Story:
Edward and Alphonse Elric were two small alchemists, learning from the books kept around the house. When they were barely 10 years old, their mother died from a disease she'd been trying to keep secret. After the funeral, Ed and Al went on to learn more alchemy so they could perform human transmutation. It cost Ed not only his left leg but also his brother. Using his own arm, Ed brought his brother's soul back to the world and incased it inside a suit of armor.
Ed (age 15) and Al (age 14) now travel together to find the Philosopher's Stone to get Al's body and Ed's limbs back.
