User Image Name: Elijah Aaron Clay
Birth name: Erin Elizabeth Clay
Nickname: Occasionally known as "Eli."
Gender: male
Physical sex: female
Birthdate: May 12
Age: 25
Height: 5'4"
Hair: Dark brown
Eyes: Brown
Orientation: Straight (he likes girls, yo)
Ancestry: 3/4 European mongrel, 1/4 Blood Cree
Hometown: Vancouver, BC, Canada
Occupation: Waiter
Favourite Music: Classic Rock (Pink Floyd, the Band, the Eagles, the Guess Who, etc.)
Favourite Books: Superhero comics and graphic novels.

Personality: Though not exactly shy, Elijah is secretive, more out of habit than anything. He tends not to let other people know very much about himself, for safety's sake; a pre-op transsexual can be an easy a target of violence. He's cynical and harsh, and has little sympathy for people he judges as deserving their fate (he's a great believer in karma and the law of threefold). Eli does have a bit of a soft spot for the underdogs, though, the downtrodden and repressed, if only because he views himself as such. He is incredibly bitter about organized religion, and will make his atheistic views known without worrying about the reaction. He tends to be rather obsessive about his appearance and manner, worrying that he won't pass as male.

He greatly dislikes being touched, in most circumstances, but makes an effort not to come across as being too much of a freak over this.

Elijah also suffers from a mild stutter. It's primarily repetitive (the most common sort of stutter), particularly the repetition of words rather than syllables, but he occassionally "blocks," or finds himself incapable of forming the first syllable of a word, leading to unnatural pauses. Like all stutterers, he cannot control it, but he has good days and bad days, and the severity often depends on who he's talking to. If he talks to himself, he almost never stutters. When speaking to customers while serving, since their opinion of him doesn't matter too much to him, he stutters very little. If in a situation where he feels himself judged, he usually stutters a lot more. He's rather self-conscious about it, though he tries not to be. He hates it when people finish his sentences for him.

Examples of a typical sentence from him would be:

"Where is the the-the-the-the fork?" (repetition)
"Where is the... fork?" (blocking)

As mentioned, it's fairly mild, as stutters go. He does not stutter in every sentence he speaks, maybe half.

Brief History:

Erin Elizabeth Clay was born to Joshua and Roxanne Clay in the city of Vancouver, the second of three children (eldest Daniel Clay, youngest Lacey Clay). From a very early age, Erin was well aware that she was not a girl. Her family pegged her as a tomboy, and that was all right enough.

Erin was raised in the Christian faith; Anglican, to be exact, and a fairly conservative church at that. She was baptized young, and took communion, and gave her all to her religion, until puberty hit and she realised... well, that she liked girls. Sure, the odd guy was pretty good looking, but on the whole... it was all girls.

She tried to deny this for a while; after all, even if she had never felt like a girl, she was still physically female and therefore must marry a man. That was how it worked. Unfortunately, the feelings did not go away. She was clearly a lesbian.

She gradually lost interest in the church. She couldn't stop being female, obviously, but in high school, began wearing her father's clothes, or her older brother's. She began seeing a volunteer therapist at a local support group for queer youth without her parents' knowledge.

When Erin was eighteen, she came out to her family, but not as a lesbian. She declared herself to be a transgendered straight male. Unsurprisingly, her parents kicked her out. They have since disavowed all knowledge of their daughter, and all Erin's attempts to contact them have been ignored.

He hadn't been surprised by his family's reaction, and had a place set aside already. Erin changed his name to Elijah Aaron, as to keep the same first initial. He chose "Elijah" because it was a fairly uncommon name with a nice sound, with a similar beginning as his old middle name, and as it was a biblical name, it was a final gesture of contempt at years of religious upbringing. (THAT was an unwieldy sentence.) "Aaron," of course, is a male name with a similar sound to his birth name (though with completely different roots). He chose to keep his own last name, because he'd grown rather used to it, after all. By the time Feral Labs happened to get their radar on him, he was living in an apartment just off Davie Street (a neighbourhood in Vancouver known for its high queer population), waiting tables in a nearby restaurant, and had been living as a full-time male for some years.

Sex reassignment therapy:

For female to male, this process includes:

-Mastectomy (the removal of female breasts and the shaping of a male contoured chest)
-Hysterectomy (the removal of female internal sex organs)
-Metoidioplasty (the construction of a small p***s out of the clitoris which has been enlarged by hormone therapy)
-Phalloplasty (specifically the construction of a neo-p***s in transmen)

Unfortunately... Elijah is terrified of surgery. Though he's been living as male full-time for about three years, he's only been on hormone therapy for a relatively short time, enough for his voice to drop, and some body hair to grow. Prior to his voice dropping, Eli took great care to speak as low as he could; fortunately, he naturally was an alto, and could pass as a young man with a high voice. He binds his breasts and wears baggy clothing to further disguise his figure. Until approached by Feral Labs, had pretty much resigned himself to never being really correct.

My idea is this: Feral Labs would have wanted, for their purposes, a pre-op transsexual with little-to-no hormone therapy, to properly test the effects of the transgender serum on someone who already identified with the final sex. Elijah just... got lucky. His doctor, perhaps, was an employee of Feral Labs? (I can only theorize the situation, I guess.) He was promised some experimental gene therapy that would make him fully male, without surgery. Eli didn't have to think twice about that. Not having any family who acknowledges him, or any significant other, he could drop off the face of the earth without too many people wondering what happened to him. Maybe his boss, who promised to keep a job open for him when he came back. But that's about it.

Besides, it amuses me terribly to think of him being silmutaneously ecstastic and horrified over his changes.

More to come... eventually....

Serum possibilities

I've thought it over. A lot. I really can't decide.

My favourites are:

-Plains Bison
-Orangutan
-Three-toed sloth
-Herring Gull

I have also considered:

-Great Blue Heron
-River Otter
-Moose
-Zebra
-African Elephant
-Bighorn sheep
-Praying mantis
-...

The list goes on. So it is. Maybe I should just go for a random animal and hope for the best?

In addition, I want a transgender serum. Which is the horrendously expensive part. Elijah will be at last fully male! And happy! Just... not exactly human anymore.

Things are still a little rough right now, I admit, especially as far as timeline goes. But I wanted to know how I was getting along.

I really like the character, Sunny/Cass :3
Its believable, you obviously have done your research into transgendered characters, and interesting even beyond that character point, so that being transgendered doesn't completely define the character.

And of course, the being disowned by the parents also makes it that much easier to disappear, and I like the angle on the psychological tests of the transgender serum on someone who already associates themselves with the final gender. (And would make for an interesting control with a character the other way around).

And there's no problem with a big list of animals to consider - it leaves you options!
