Ismet was in a very grouchy mood. But that was really nothing new, as any of the mages could share - he always seemed to be in some state of grouchy-ness.
In an attempt to keep from being dragged off to 'be social' by Dacian, he had hidden himself away in the one area that man would likely never visit randomly: the library. Not to say that the mage never went there - he just never went there in his leisure time. He was far more likely to run into Hadrian, and even that was chancy.
Curling up in one of the large chairs, the snake had managed to find a decent book to read. But before he could begin reading, he had glanced up and caught sight of someone unfamiliar.
Another guardian, probably. Fantastic...

Remi never did have a very good sense of direction. Somehow she had landed herself in the library. Now she was lost, confused, and surrounded by books.
Great she thought, How did I even get here in the first place?
She traversed through the mazes of shelves until she saw a large chair with a child in it. A blue child. Just perfect, now there were little blue people running--er, sitting--around here too. Nevertheless, maybe this blue child could give her a clue to where she was and/or more information on this Soul she kept hearing about.
"Um, er, hello?" she stuttered, not sure how to address the child, "You wouldn't by chance know where I am do you? I think I'm kinda lost..."

Flicking his white hair aside, Ismet directed a cool gaze towards the woman.
"You're in the library, third floor of the main building."
Though the library itself was on more then one floor, so that in itself wasn't the most helpful...he knew how to navigate the compound, but he'd lived his whole (albeit short) life here.
"I'm Ismet. Are you one of the guardians?" If she was, then he'd probably just find Hadrian or someone to take care of her - and if she wasn't then he was leading her straight to the exit. Or he'd lead her somewhere she'd be sure to get lost in, then 'disappear'.

Something about his tone and his eyes told Remi that she probably wasn't going to like this kid very much. Then again, he was being helpful and therefore she shouldn't make him angry. He also knew where he was, and could very well make her more lost out of sport.
"Well, I guess the whole library thing is sorta obvious."
So his name was Ismet. Did everything about this kid have to connotate evilness? Luckily the term 'guardian' rung a bell.
"Why yes, I am a guardian! Hello Ismet, let me introduce myself. My name's Remiyah, but most people just call me Remi. So, er, are you one of the people who called me here?"

At the comment about being one of the ones who called her, Ismet let a helpless smirk slide onto his face.
"No. My guardians did that; Dacian, most likely. He's the one that deals with people."
And of course, Hadrian dealt with his labs, and Ahneta dealt with - people. Just not the sort of people that these guardians Dacian had picked would likely be...though really, he had no idea how Dacian was choosing them. For all he knew, they could be the sorts that the sole vixen of the group dealt with.
"I'll help you find Dacian - he can explain things better."
The snake slid out of his chair, leaving the book to rest on the cushion. He planned on returning after he located the mage, even if he had to sneak away. After all, Dacian probably would want him to 'socialize'. At least Ahneta never tried that, even if she did show him off once or twice.

The smirk didn't make her feel any better
"So you're a...Soul, was it? I didn't think you'd be so blue. Do all Souls look similar to you?"
She meant the question in the nicest way possible, and prayed he didn't take it as an attack on his appearance. The blue was growing on her, though it seemed a little strange. Still, that didn't mean that he didn't creep her out. She felt she must be wary of this one. At least she was getting some guidance, or guidance to getting more guidance.
"Alright, then let's go find this Dacian."
Cautiously, but curiously, she followed after the boy, hoping that more would be explained soon.

"It's because of my blend - Eastern Indigo Snake. One of the others has a purple-grey coloring, and Hadrian says another looks completely human."
And had a strange blend, apparently. Lace? It figured. He hadn't been expecting objects to appear, and neither had the mage/scientist...just proves that they're still winging it, he supposed.
Padding out of the library, he briefly skitter over in his mind where Dacian could be, before deciding that the gardens were the most likely place. It could have been easier to find the mage, actually - Hadrian had developed comm bracelets. But Ismet refused to wear one, since he knew that if he did, Dacian would be bothering him all the time.
He could deal with the chatterbox, but not 24-7.
In the back of his mind, he noted that the guardian seemed almost afraid of him. It was a rather amusing sensation, he decided, and not something he altogether disliked. Be feared was better then someone bugging him.

She gave a mental sigh of relief. Hopefully she'd have a Soul who was a bit easier to be around than Ismet. She didn't think she could live with someone where she would have to wonder constantly if he or she were plotting evil deeds. That would just be nerveracking. Then again, what kids aren't plotting evil deeds.
"Well, then it should be a pleasant surprise to see what type of Soul I get to take care of."
She followed quickly behind him, hoping he was taking her where he said he was. The last thing she needed was to get more lost.

After entering the gardens, it only took a few moments to locate Dacian. Ismet felt even more embaressed then before however, because of how they had located him: he was singing. Badly.
Dacian, on the other hand, didn't seem embaressed at all. With a friendly smile at both Remiyah and Ismet (completely ignoring the glare) he chirped out a greeting. "Hello!"
"I'm Dacian - you're one of the guardians, right? I knew there was one I never actually met.." sheepishly rubbing the back of his head at this admission, the little snake just rolled his eyes. Dacian had tried to meet all the guardians, but occasionally he just couldn't find them and had to leave messages.
Ismet took this opportunity to turn and begin walking away, his only response to Dacian a dismissive wave.

Oh dear god, the singing. Remi followed Ismet into what she guessed were the gardens. The flowers, bushes, and other forms of foliage kinda gave her a clue. And then there was the person who she could only guess was Dacian. Just as Ismet's intial glare scared her, this guy's overenthusiasm put her on the edge as well.
"Er, hello. I'm Remiyah, but just call me Remi."
And she was apparently late in terms of meeting this guy, as everyone else had seen him already. But that's the story of Remi's life, being late for everything.
"Yea, I'm one of guardians, I think. I was called here, but I was having a crisis. You know, kitchens, ovens, explosions, and the like."
She felt slightly better when Ismet left now that she didn't have the glares to deal with, even if they weren't directed at her.
"So, how does this whole Soul thing work? I didn't really get a lot of information..."

"Ah, where to start..."
Dacian gestured her over to a bench, before sitting down on it himself. It was a long story, and he really hadn't explained much of anything in the letter.
"Alright, to start off, this story may seem a bit...fantastical. Just suspend your disbelief for a little bit, and it should go well," he chuckled then, remembering the usual response to the story.
Then he began to speak again, explaining about their world - and his co-workers - and what they had done to save everyone. It was a long and lengthy story, and it took a little bit before he finally reached the current day.
"...and we can't take care of everyone, so we're looking for guardians."
The mage then peered at Remiyah hopefully, hoping that she wasn't going to be one of the ones who refused to believe him. He'd actually had to find a new guardian for one, as when he had explained the story to the first, he hadn't been believed and eventually had been thrown out.
So what if he had made the cutlery float to prove he had magic? It didn't mean they had throw him out that hard!

She blinked. Here she was sitting on a bench beside a man who claimed to be a mage. Uh huh...
"Er..." she began, not sure what to say. But then again, Ismet was probably more than enough proof to validate his story. His hopeful expression was also impossible not to believe.
"Well, I guess I have to believe it. I'll just have to get more familiar with the whole thing."
In a sense, she was excited as well. Magic? It was almost as if she had jumped into a fantasy book. But this could be a good thing.
"So, when do I get to see my Soul?"

Ah, so he didn't have to make his roses fly around in artistic displays! That was a good thing, because they tended to act up when he did that. Dropping thorns on his guests really wasn't a good thing.
Hopping up, he grinned down at Reimyah. "We can go see it now! It's just energy right now, being monitered in one of Hadrian's labs...but you can still see it."
If nothing else, seeing a ball of energy floating above the ground in a scientific setting might convince her. Though she did already seem to believe him...so instead, perhaps, it would just help to further her belief. And he didn't get to see the Souls as often as Hadrian did, so it would be nice to visit.

This guy just had too much energy. She couldn't help but feel uplifted and able to believe anything around him. That and floating balls of energy sounded interesting to look at.
"Alright, I'm up for it. Where are these labs? Are there scientists here or something? Or is it all just mages?"
Labs, balls of energy, magic...This was all new to Remi, but at the same time exciting. She wanted to know more.

"Just the three of us - Hadrian, Ahneta and me. Though we all have magic, you might consider Hadrian to be a scientist."
Dacian began to lead Remiyah out of the gardens, and then into the buildings where the labs were located.
"He spends all his time down here anyway, so he's just as much - if not more - of a scientist then a mage," was the wry comment he threw over his shoulder at the guardian. Of the three of them, the one that probably classified as a 'pure' mage without much other purpose, was Dacian. Ahneta could just as easily be considered a businesswoman, and Hadrian a scientist; Dacian was just a mage who happened to like gardening.
And singing, though his off-key screeching was enough to drive anyone away.
After navigating through the halls for a bit (and getting lost once or twice) they managed to find the right room. Like all the other labs that held Souls, it had a ring of monitors and three enscribed circles into the ground that surrounded the floating ball of energy.
