Most people save their outfits for the contest so that way it doesn't get ruined or anything like that. But there has never been a rule that I have heard of that you can't wear that costume again.

Yeah, I tend to like to save my Cosplay Outfit for the contest/masquerade. It's kind of a surprise, then, too. I've worn stuff again after the competition, though.

I really dont care about rules and they're made to be broken. Be different and do what you want. Who cares if it's ok? I'll wear what costume I want WHEN I want. If I wanna pull out a kick A** costume and wear the whole freaking con AND in the masquerade, I will. All in all . . . do what you want.

well I think it depends on your cons rules, I dont think you can have had it entered in any previous masquarades, there also may be a rule of a time limit for having the costume made. Check with your conventions rules to be safe...

I dont like to wear the same costume to the same event... like my first year cosplaying was Winry Rockbell from FMA, I wore her costume to Otakon, and then I wore it again to Anime USA. But I dont thinK I'd wear the costume again to Otakon. But my Pricness Ai costume, got kinda famous, so I want to wear it again, and again. ^.^
But then again, the year I wore Princess Ai to Otakon, I wore that costume for 3 days in a row. I was so proud of it. ^.^ So if you want to do that too, it works. Also, I didnt exactly HAVE any other costumes to wear, it was only Princess Ai and Winry Rockbell... XD
It's good to switch it up, keep it entertaining, but if you think it'll win the contest then go ahead.

My father cosplays Master Roshi (DBZ) and when we go to our local con he wears the same costume all weekend, plus some people just wear costumes then don't, just do whatever is most comfortable to yourself. 3nodding

I don't see a problem with using the same costume more than once. Over the time of our conventions in my area , I usually only have one costume that I wear over that period of time. My friend on the other hand changes for each day. So there's really no restrictions other than what you feel.
If you're entering a contest, you should probably check your contest restrictions like what Iluvnekokunsmile suggests, but I've never really heard of a place restricting you to wearing only a new costume to the function, though if you've entered the same contest with the same costume, that may be a different thing. I've still never really heard anything against even entering the same costume, though but you never know.
Anyways, check to be sure for the contest and for the reusing of your outfit, do whatever you like, it's up to you really. Have fun with it.

I always multi-con my cosplays. It saves money, and it helps you perfect the character. You can also improve it between cons and the like.
And winning awards at several cons with a cosplay is just cool.
But having the same cosplay year after year gets dull. So I usually retire them after a year, unless I'm in the mood to wear it once again.

I think it's okay to wear a costume more than once in a weekend if you wanna. I always do (Three days sometimes), but as a rule, I usually do undershirts and sometimes shorts as well, just to make it easier. I know it might be tough to wash some more delicate costumes, especially when you're busy all weekend at a convention...A long as you practice good hygeine and all that, I think you'll be all right. XD
