(( This is from a ways ago, and we never finished it... Sooo I'm moving it here. XD))
The young.. elf, of sorts, fumbled over the magic's words. "On..ta vasa.." Nothing.
"Dolle naa lost"
The teacher scolded, giving her a light bonk on the head. "Mankoi lle uma tanya?" the girl whined, rubbing her head. "Tanya awra!"
"Dina."
Arafel shut her mouth as she was told, slouching a bit and looking around the classroom. Everyone else had done the spell proporly.. Except her. Hm.. Maybe her head really was empty?
No no.. then it wouldn't hurt! Right?
Soon enough the teacher tapped her hand on the dest, calling the class's attention to let everyone know it was dissmissed. With that she gathered her few things, mindful of keeping her tail well hidden and moved over to her brother shufling out with the rest of them.

Zhome He didn't look quite the elf his sister did. No, he didn't even look an elf if you saw him without his hat on at the least, but as he saw his sister, his hat was on, and he was an elf. And he was pretty good at magic, so as his sister approached, he immediately went back to her. "Lle tyava quel seler'?" Zhome came close, ready to cast yet another spell if needed, to heal, whatever. Then, they'd play! "Lle anta tanka harwar?" For the moment, he was the concerned sibling, not his sister. He'd have to tutor her again later.. Or cheat for her, one of the two.

She gave a nod and smiled "n'uma, Diola lle" she waved it off, giving light laugh. It was her fault for getting the spell wrong anyways.
Soon enough they were outside, the twin carefully checking her slightly younger sibling's hat before giving him the okay. With that she moved over to the side, determined to get the spell right.
"On..ta vasa!" nope.
"Onta vasa" still nothing...
siiigh.

Zhome He smiled at his sister's motions, and at the fact that she wasn't letting it get to her. That, plus even if he did ever get his hat on wrong or anything, thanks to her, it wouldn't stay that way. Although he frowned soon enough at the failed spell, ears twitching subconciously under his hat... Thankfully it wasn't noticed, that's part of how they worked it, but nonetheless. Nudging his sister a bit, he nodded downwards towards himself, his little signal to watch him. He'd tutor her as long as it took, they had to be accepted, they just had to be... "Onta vasa!" Came his spell with a smile towards his twin. And lo and behold, it worked, and a small cake materialised in his hands. He handed that to his sister, after he took a bite of course.

She watched intently, focusing on each movement and word. She just had to learn it! She was normal... Just as normal as everyone else! Wasn't she?
Hm..
She blinked as she took the tiny cake, setting it aside and focusing as hard as one her age could. "Onta vasa!"
She slowly opened her eyes, blinking at the half a cake that had materilized. So it was only half but... still. "En! En!"(Look! Look!) she held up the sorry excuse for food proudly. Seems the poor girl just didn't have a knack for magic.
"Vedui' "(greetings) A voice from a fellow classmate spoke up behind them. ((*flips on the translator*)) "How bout a game?" the boy kicked around the ball before picking it up "Boys only." he snorted at Arafel. Damn cootie infested girl.
"Go ahead!" Arafel smiled at him, figuring he wouldn't want to abandon her. She didn't mind though, she just wanted him to have fun.

Zhome He smiled at his sister's finally casting the spell, nodding happilly and patting her back lightly. "Good job, you got it!" He didn't reach for his cake, instead he took his sisters, devouring it quickly. True, it tasted a little... off, but the moment he finished, he smiled as if it was the best in the world.... And at the other boy asking him to play ball, he looked for his sister's approval, smiling and nodding at recieving it, hugging her quickly before yoinking the ball and running ahead. "I'll be back soon!" Came his shout, not wanting to give his sister any impression of his leaving her alone for long.

The girl beamed when he ate it, for the moment that little action meant the world to her. She watched him leave happilly calling out a "'Kay!" and sitting back to watch the game, loudly cheering him on in her head. Even if she was a bit softspoken on the outside she could allways be as loud as she wanted in her mind. Her concentration broke as she felt the unnatural appendage beginning to wiggle from her seat. Aka, her tail had started wagging. Flinching she tried to calm herself down.. and after a few minutes she let out a breath she hadn't noticed she was holding. --------------- MEANWHILE --------------- The boys quickly followed after their classmate, trying to get the ball back then continueing their game. The ball flew this way and that, child to child, hands to hands (spreading all sorts of germs D=). SCORE. The kids cheered as their newest player made a goal. "Good job Zhome!" "Yea!" and so forth. The opposing team didn't seem at all pleased with this... they had been winning!! Damn kid. Sneering an apparently slightly older boy leaned over to whisper in his teammate's long ear. Nodding with a grin they called in the next round. The game began much as the last. Ball zooming form player to player, but.. this time. Just as the ball was going to the young "elf" his hat was snatched away. "I got it!" the boy called out, turning around when everythign seemed to stop. His mouth dropped open as the hat slipped from his fingers...

Zhome Zhome was gladly playing, zipping about and careful to keep on both feet each moment. And, he scored simply enough, laughing loudly as he soaked up the appreciation of his teammates, and the knowledge of his sister cheering him on, even if not that loud. He continued, zipping about with a grin as wide as the sun, he was accepted and glad. Afterall, he had strong magic, was quick, accurate, smart.. Why wouldn't he be populer? And his sister? He'd stay with her to the ends of the earth, no matter what happened. But all his world, everything that had ever mattered to the 'elf' stopped the moment his hat was grabbed. Exposed sat two grey ears, both anything but elven, and a look of pure horror. They'd shun him, they were already terrified... And he couldn't do anything to bring back their acceptance. At that moment he couldn't help but wish he was an elf, nor do anything but run, which he did, racing towards where his sister was. He'd hide, he'd hide and never come out untill he was an elf, just like them.... Never.

As soon as Arafel's little problem was taken care of she went to resume her attention to the game. only to find her brother, hatless, and hurrying towards her. She gave a light gasp, immediatly on her feet and moving infront of him arms streached out with as tough a look she could conjure up.
The boys ofcourse came after as the boy ran away. He was an abomination! tricking them like that... and as young humanoids would often do... when they saw a weak, defensless one of their own.. they'd turn on it. In order to get a higher status. Most elves saw themselves higher than this pecking order... but they were still young.
"Hey FREAK." one taunted.
"Leave him alone!" the girl growled, no one called her brother a freak.. he wasn't a freak!
"Why should I, he's a FREAK afterall." he sneered "You are too arn't you? Atleast you have NORMAL ears."
"Shut up!!" a more inhuman growl excaped her. "Or I'll-"
"You'll what?!" he inturupted with a laugh "Your just a girl. You can't even get spells right." more laughing.
Another growl, her hands had clenched into fists by now. Her small body shaking ever so slightly. Not because she was scared, which they were mistaking it for, but because she was rather pissed. Her brother was the most important thing to her. And NO ONE would hurt her most important thing.

Zhome While his sister wasn't afraid, the boy running certainly was. He wasn't a moron, since he covered his head with his hands... Zhome was running home, covering the upper half of what made him such a 'freak' with his arms and hands. His aunt.. Yes, his aunt and sister would make it all better, they always had, both of them. He was sure it would be okay again, everything.. But by now, the wish to be normal, that was permeating him slowly but surely. Simply one word echoed throughout his head all the while.. 'Hey FREAK!' A small child who is a star of attention can easily have a shattered image, and this one's was shattered. If anything though, he was fast, it was part of his being a 'freak', and it wasn't long before he was through the door of the home his sister and he shared with their aunt and her husband, and not even three steps inside after slamming the door behind him, he was curled on the ground, crying, crying, crying.... "Why can't I be normal... Why am I a freak.." came the simple sentances through the sobs.

Zhome Zhome had been oblivious of his sister's happenings.... Maybe if he hadn't, things would have changed, he'd have helped, used the magic he knew to be a support to his sister and make sure no adults hurt her again... As it was however, he had no clue of the things going on, of the adults picking up and hitting his sister, of her attack on his tormenters, of how their fate in the elven community was sealed now... He simply was aware of his aunt, her comfort, and his being a freak. The words said made it through his head... Although, in his crying, he didn't really hear a one. Maybe later he'd recall, but for that moment, all that really made it was her comfort, comfort there and at that moment, exactly what he needed. So his sobs softened a little as he burried his head in his aunt's lap, letting her pry his hands from his head, and instead wrapping them tightly around her. He didn't really remember their mother or father that well, they had been killed before he had been able to.. But he sympathised with that feeling of course, since what he did remember, is that they had been caring, and that they were gone for sure now. Except for now his concern was acceptance, that he now hoped for inside.. Tommorow, tommorow everything would be the same. Only it wouldn't, it would be worse.

Zhome Zhome didn't share his sister's opinion sadly enough, for the moment still.. He was wishing he was nothing but pure elf, his sister too. Maybe then she'd be good with spells too, and then, then they'd both be more accepted. Nodding, he determined that while he sat in his room, still sobbing a little. He stopped soon enough, hearing his sister with his ears, and standing up immediately. The door slammed open, and the child was next to his sister in seconds. He hadn't heard anything else thankfully, just his sister. And the moment he was there, he immediately started to nuzzle her lovingly. "Cheer up sister... It's fine, it'll all be fine again.. Tommorow it'll be fine..." He tried to assure her, moving to lick away the tears as well. He was the more bestial of the two naturally anyways.

The young girl pulled away from her aunt's grasp as her brother came out, blinking as he started to nuzzle her. A small smile tugging at her lips at his.. cute actions, for lack of a better word. She smiled in spite of herself... It wouldn't be okay. But she couldn't bring herself to say anything otherwise. Maybe she was trying to let him have his hope.. Or, just to give herself some. She was too young to really know.. or even think about that.
She let out a small giggle when he licked away the tears, giving a half-hearted attempt to push him away "Brother!" she giggled some more whiping at her face.
Their aunt smiled, saying one last thing before she'd try to help them forget it all. "Allways be together...Okay? Promise?"
Arafel blinked, looking to her brother with a why wouldn't I be with him forever look. "I promise!"
