I know that means basically, "How are you?" And you can answer "Genki desu" meaning "I'm fine."

What other responses are there? I mean, how would you say, 'I'm sad' or 'I'm not so good' or sick, or hungry, busy, anything really. Can someone give me some different answers to that question?

EDIT::
Okay, I'm not sure anymore. Is there rules to responding to the phrase, grammar and just in general?
And if possible, is there a way or place I can get a list of answers to memorize or whatnot...?

"Genki janai desu" would mean "I'm am not good."
Janai takes the place of the negative form of "desu" (dewa arimasen/ja arimasen)

Thanks all. Do does anyone know more phrases?

Ah.
Another response I've learned is..

おかげさまで。

Okagesamade.

And in literal sense it's "I'm very good/blessed." That's what my teacher says. XD

So you would say - "Hai, okagesamade."

Eeek. That's not quite right. First of well, it should be 'mada', not 'made'. 'Mada' means 'not yet', while 'made' means 'until'. Second of all, you can't say 'mada mada desu' in response to 'ogenki desu ka', because it makes no sense to say 'not yet' in response to 'how are you'?

If you don't want to give a positive response, you could try something like 'maa maa' - that's kind of like 'I'm okay...' Or I guess you could negate the thing entirely by saying 'iie, chotto...' It's kind of standoffish and vague ('no, I'm a bit...'), but the Japanese are really against conflict, even in ordinary conversation.

Well, I'm not sure but my teacher says it like 'O Genki Desuka?' But then again yeah, she learned japanese from living there.

Hm, well, I know some feelings.

kanashii-sad
urashii-happy
doki- excited
guru-hyper.

I know my spelling is off, but my teacher told me that. I learned japanese in amateur level so be kind to me crying

Well if you do that iie, chotto and pause a bit then say kanashii that might work if you want to say you're feeling sad...but that was a question I had to so I'm really just speculating here.

I'm assuming it'd be: no I'm a bit... sad

Since iie, chotto is a hanging sentence from what that girl has told us and kanashii is sad...but again I have no factual evidence on the matter and might wrong..
