Smiling to herself, Israel put the finishing touches on the small card she was making. On the front she had drawn and colored a garden landscape and in the inside she had written "My room, 204. 8 pm", and that was it. Ever since she had met Giani and made up with Xel, she felt lighter and happier. She knew she had asked Xel to give her space, but now she was sick of space. She just wanted her friend back and to make it up to him, she decided she would attempt the art of cooking. Watching him do it, it hadn't seemed that hard and figured she'd be able to do it without any problems. Smiling brighter, she grabbed a piece of tape, walked across the hall to Xel's door and taped the note to it. Giggling lightly, she went back into her room to get things started.

Yawning Xel made his way from his room to the kitchen though it served a feat in futility as Aine the fashion hurricane still remained in the living room. "Oi..." he muttered. Stepping out of the way of her things he found the asian doll sound asleep on the couch drapped in her fabrics. He chuckled at this, going over to check on her. She didn't stir and he wouldn't wake her but it was chilly in here, so without much fanfare he picked her up and took her back to her room where he tucked her in.
As he came out of her room, he looked around shaking his head. "Whatever.." he muttered smiling to himself. He went to the kitchen to pull out a carton of apple juice which he sucked down from the carton itself. At that time he heard giggling and feet running down the hall outside the room. "Hmm?"
Shrugging he went to check but didn't see anyone. As he turned to close the door he found the note, reading it he frowned a bit. "Secret admirer?" shrugging he figured he'd head over there in a bit, going back to his room to freshin up.

It was a disaster from the minute she set foot in the kitchen. She had thought it would have been easy, especially as she was reading the recipe word for word. But no matter what it seemed that cooking was just not her thing. Nearly in tears as yet another pot started to boil over, Israel looked around the disaster that had been a kitchen only moments before. She wished had at least practiced before inviting Xel over, she thought as she peered into the boiling pot.

Xel had been standing on the other side of the door for a while now. A slight walk down the hall and across the way. He sighed then knocked but could hear what sounded like a disaster... "Cooking?" the rancid smell of burnt food. "Oh gods, tell me this person isn't cooking..." he muttered and waited to be addressed.

Israel looked up at the sound of a knock on the door. Was it eight already? She glanced up at the clock as she brushed her hair out of her face, leaving a trail of flour across her forehead. She hadn't even had time to get herself ready. With tears still threatening to over run from her eyes, she opened the door and looked up at Xel.
"I tried," she said with sad puppy eyes.

Xel could only blink as the cutest vision he'd ever seen came into view from the other side. He peeked behind her to the kitchen then looked back to her. "Aww..did you try to cook something?" he said, ushering her inside and closing the door. She looked frustrated but it was so damn cute, he leaned down to kiss her nose. "Want some help?" He offered, wiping some flower from her face.

Israel glanced over at the kitchen then back up at Xel, nodding.
"Please?" she pleaded, placing her hands on his chest as he wiped her face off. "I didn't think it would be this hard. You made it look all so easy," she sniffed. She hated feeling inadequate, though she figured she should have been used to it by now. Bad luck always seemed to follow her.

He chuckled patting her head as he slipped past. "You forget, I've been in the kitchen since I was five and I had my mah helping me." He smiled taking a look at the mess. Busying himself in the kitchen, cleaning up pots, removing various portions of food to a new pot and discarding burnt food, within moments the stove was simmering with the fresh smell of a delicious dish to come.
Satisfied with the rescue, Xel came back around to Israel engulfing her in a hug. "Don't worry too much, you actually didn't do too bad, according to the book. You just really got to pay attention to the time, and make sure not to over cook or under cook your food." He smiled down on her wiping the rest of the flour from her face. "I'll monitor the kitchen go get cleaned up, neh? And when you return I'll show you a few pointers."

Israel watched him work and move around the kitchen. This had not gone at all to plan. When he came back over to her and gave her a big hug, she wrapped her arms around him and squeezed him back. She looked up at him as he wiped her face clean and smiled.
"I'd really like that Xel," she smiled warmly, then kissed him lightly on the cheek before pulling away to disappear into her room to get cleaned up. After changing clothes and fixing her make up, she fluffed her hair and went back out to the kitchen.
"I'm really sorry Xel. I wanted to do something special for you so you would know that I'm not mad at you anymore and that we're still friends," she smiled, watching him as he worked at the stove.

Xel looked over his shoulders at her, now relocated in the kitchen. He had an apron on, and was sampling some of the food a wooden spoon in his mouth. "Oh.." he smiled flipping his hair behind him as he reached a hand out for her to come. "You did do something special, your in my element trying to cook. The gesture alone is endearing. Now to get some skills on that belt of yours and you can woe me any time you like." He chuckled reaching behind her to nuzzle her ear. "I know I won't get too touchy just can't help it sometimes." Standing to full height his face changed growing into chef mode.
Now lets look at this book...they spent the better half of the evening going over various reciepes. Xel mostly standing back and letting Isis take over. She did good this time around as Xel instructed her on stirring when a pot was boiling to help keep it down, also lowering the temperature to almost non-existant. He smiled when she began to get the hang of it and sat back to let her work. "You're doing good...we'll be ready to eat soon. I'll get the dishes ready."

Israel smiled as he nuzzled her gently, trying not to react. When he straightened and slipped into professional mode she giggled. He was just as serious about cooking as she was about art, she thought with a light blush, thinking of her portrait session with Giani. But she didn't have time to dwell on that as Xel began teaching her the finer things of cooking and she was pleasantly surprised to find that it really wasn't that hard. It just really helped to have someone who knew what they were doing standing over you and watching you.
"Now I see why you like cooking so much Xel. This is so much fun, and it smells so good," she smiled, leaning over the stove to breathe in deeply.

He looked over his shoulder with a wry smile. "Yep, its fun but that's only if you're cooking for someone you care about." He turned to finish setting the table and came up behind her with a hug, to whisper. "I know you put your heart into cooking earlier but you were so frustrated that the food came out in format of how you were feeling. Look at you know, relaxed and calm..and the food...smells great. I bet it tastes great too." He removed himself after raising his hands playfully. "Your cooking reflex how you feel."

Israel smiled. She liked that. It made sense to her. It was like a painting. Her work always reflected how she felt.
"Well... there's that, and then there's having a wonderful teacher. Your mother must have been an excellent cook and woman to have raised such a good cook," Israel said, turning to face him. "Is it ready to eat yet?" she asked looking up into his eyes.

He smiled, "Go check it out and see. A cook should always know when dinner is ready." He winked going to sit down where he could watch her over the stove. In a way it reminded him of his mah, when he used to sit at the table and watch her prepare meals. That was before he was allowed in the kitchen, to cook.

Israel beamed a bright smile at him and turned back to the stove. It actually looked like edible food this time around. Excited that the evening had been salvaged, she quickly dished everything into serving dishes and brought them to the table. Chewing on her lip nervously she looked over at Xel across the table.
"I really hope it's as good as it smells," she grinned, folding her hands down in her lap.
