Denumi

User Image

Name: Denumi

Nicknames: D, Denny

Pokemon: Chinchou

Species: Angler

Type: Water/Electric

Alignment: Light

Gender: Male

Nature: Calm

Ability: Volt Absorb

Current Moveset:
Thunder Wave
Supersonic
Water Gun
Spark

Theme Song: *pending*

Color Scheme: Glass

Bio:

IC: Of Io's pokemon, Denumi is the most like her - level-headed, absent-minded, easygoing, perpetually in good humor and often fairly oblivious. Io caught him pretty much by accident when she was trying to avoid catching a water pokemon by rigging her fish bait to send out mild electric shocks.

She hadn't been counting on a water pokemon that would actually LIKE said shocks, but she wasn't about to overlook an electric-type pokemon that her mother couldn't argue against her having as a starter. Take that, water pokemon family tradition!

Denumi and Io get along quite well. D often seems a bit simple-minded, just wavering towards whatever catches his attention and pleasure. However in the clouds he may seem, though, he does notice the world around him and knows when to get serious. Much like Io, he'd just rather not.

OOC: Ever since the second generation of pokemon arrived, I've been using Chinchou/Lanturn in my parties. It's neither the best Electric type nor the best Water type, but this unique dual type gives it a load of versitality that I absolutely love to implement. Plus, this pokemon is the lord of all parafusion, a dastardly evil technique to employ.

Name: "Denumi" is from the Japanese words for "electric" and "ocean." I admittedly dislike using Japanese for Pokemon names, as I think it's a bit of a cheap way out. I wish I had a better name for this pokemon, but I don't, and it's practically tradition now anyway. XD; Originally, I called my Lanturn just Denny, but I had also been considering that name for Ampharos (whose Japanese name is Denryu, "electric dragon") so I changed it slightly.

Usual/Favorite Moveset: Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Confuse Ray, Surf

Why used: I switched to this dual-type in both the Color and Advance generations simply because there's too bloody many water-type HMs and I needed those moves available while still having an Electric type on my team. I grew to love Lanturn, so it was a good move despite my growing distaste for the water-type and its 39672093845023495 HM moves in general. >_>;

Staticia

User Image

Name: Staticia

Nicknames: Stat, Stace, Stacy, Trish (but never call her the last three).

Pokemon: Electrike

Species: Lightning

Type: Electric

Alignment: Light

Gender: Female

Nature: Lonely

Ability: Static

Current Moveset:
Tackle
Quick Attack
Howl
Shock Wave

Theme Song: Lightning Blue Eyes - Secret Machines

Color Scheme: Default

Bio:

IC: Staticia often seems quiet and demure, but a snappish personality lurks behind that facade. She is the youngest of Io's pokemon, and her early life was none too kind to her. Something of a runt among her litter, she was often bullied and roughed up, but she quickly learned to snap back and developed a tough, masked attitude to scare others off.

Not long after she had become old enough to venture out on her own, the area she lived in was combed by Safari Zone hunters. They rounded up many of the pokemon living there and relocated them to the Safari, Staticia included. There she found life even harder as the pokemon were packed thicker, and nearly all of them were older and stronger than her. Trainers also ran amuck attempting to catch the pokemon, and all in all she found it a volatile existance - especially when several trainers scoffed at her tiny frame and tossed rocks at her so she wouldn't "scare off the good pokemon." She clammed up within herself, becoming distant and cold - all life had told her was that she was worth nothing.

Some firey part of her won't let her give up, and she tends to become very determined and brazen in battle, although quickly spirals into depression if it doesn't go her way. Io finds it perplexing, but tries her best to support and encourage Staticia. It's not exactly an easy task.

Staticia is still a bit wary of Io as a trainer, but recognizes her sincere enthusiasm to have her as a pokemon and the fact that Io did all she could to revive and apologize when she accidentally nearly drowned her trying to catch her. In Staticia's eyes, Io's openness and kindness is a nearly unbelievable wonder, despite her doubts.

Staticia really doesn't like being called Stacy, though.

OOC: I love electric types. Naturally, I caught an Electrike as soon as I could when I got Sapphire, and used her for quite some time. The first one I encountered (and caught) happened to be a female with a Lonely nature, which inspired this angsty, kind of depressed and withdrawn personality for her. I later switched her out of the team in favor of Lanturn, but I greatly enjoyed using Electrike/Manectric when I had her.

Name: It's derived from "static," obviously. It simply popped into my head when mixing syllables around words that had to do with electricity, and I thought it sounded nifty. This is my favorite style of naming - both stylish and clever! This one isn't my most clever, but I still like it a lot.

Usual/Favorite Moveset: I honestly don't remember, aside from having Thunder on it. Probably Bite and at least one Normal-type move. As I said, I didn't use her all the way through the game, so her moveset never truly got finalized.

Why used: I wanted an Electric type as soon as possible, and this was the first one I could catch. It's that simple! I think this is one of the only canine pokemon I truly favor, due to its type and cool look. (I don't count the Eeveelutions as canine though, nor Vulpix/Ninetails or the Legendary Beasts. The Eevees seem more feline or possibly vulpine to me, and foxes... are vulpine. XD; Raikou/Entei/Suicune never looked that canine to me either, but they're close enough to the edge that I just call them Generic Beasts and get on with it.)

Others of interest: Manectric's Thunder was the first time I saw that move in Ru/Sa, and I gotta say, it looks SEXY in those games. That single move just made the entire cool factor for this pokemon in my eyes.

Skythe

User Image

Name: Skythe

Nicknames: Sky, Syke, Scythemeister

Pokemon: Pikachu

Species: Mouse

Type: Electric

Alignment: Light

Gender: Male

Nature: Sassy

Ability: Static

Current Moveset:
Thundershock
Tail Whip
Quick Attack
Swagger

Theme Song: Rainbow in the Dark - Dio

Color Scheme: Neon

Bio:

IC:
His official nature rating may say "sassy," but that doesn't even begin to describe the headache that is Skythe. He's sarcastic, tactless, reckless, egotistical, flirtatious, and has a skull thicker than a Wailord's skin. Skythe really, really, REALLY hates his coloration, and can often be found whining something along the lines of "It's not hot pink! It's a BRIGHT REDDISH PURPLE!" He won't hesitate to electrocute anyone who makes fun of him, although he tends to jump the gun at times.

Skythe's driving ambition is to push himself to train hard and become strong so he can find a Thunderstone and evolve into "the best Raichu EVER." Mostly, he figures that normal-colored Pikachu go through a drastic color change when they evolve, so with any luck he'll come out looking cool and people won't laugh at him anymore.

He has no qualms about announcing his ambitions to everyone he encounters, human or pokemon, loudly, and multiple times.

Skythe literally ran into Io while running from a bunch of pokemon he'd managed to piss off. With Skythe, this is not an uncommon occurrence. Long story short, Io giggled at Skythe, Skythe tried to shock her, but Denumi, having been riding in Io's backpack again, happily absorbed the attack. To the other pokemon, it looked like Io was unaffected by the shock. So Io told them to bugger off, and they were out of there in a flash.

Skythe, recognizing Io as a trainer, realized that a trainer could not only make him stronger but facilitate finding a Thunderstone. He all but forced himself upon her, especially upon hearing that she has a weakness for Electric types. Io doesn't particularly mind, finding Skythe more amusing than annoying. If she could understand him, they'd no doubt quip back and forth all the time, her subtle wit versus his brazen one.

OOC: Ever since the very first time I picked up a Pokemon game, I have used and loved Skythe. No, not just any old Pikachu/Raichu - Skythe. Raichu is my favorite pokemon of all, and this tactless, smartass, recklessly loveable idiot of one has been with me as long as the game series. Not always in hot pink, but he's been with me nonetheless. Not having him on my PokeGen team would practically be sacrilege!

Name: Derived from "scythe," as I thought that's what the lightning-bolt zigzag on the end of Raichu's tail looked like at first. I still think it's nifty to imagine a Raichu using its tail as a blade to attack with Cut or some such.

Usual/Favorite Moveset: Thunderbolt, Thunder, Submission, Swagger

Submission I just randomly taught to Skythe one day, then realized that this move made it look like the other pokemon was getting severely PWNED, whether that was actually true or not. XD; I therefore dubbed Submission awesome, and it kind of became tradition for Skythe to have it. Swagger I added in when it came along because it was just SO Skythe-like.

Why used: He's my favorite of favorites, and he sweeps through Lorelai like nothing in Red/Blue. And he's hilarious. That's about it. biggrin

Others of interest: I was mad when they didn't let you evolve your Pikachu in Yellow. D: At least until I found out about the Surfing Pikachu minigame, that is... Skythe used to have a unique move called Thunder Coil that worked kind of like an Electric version of Wrap/Bind/Fire Spin/etc, only stronger. This was in RPs and such, obviously. I still sorta wish it actually existed.

Notes on edits for evolution: Wears a red headband tied about his forehead, with fairly long tails hanging down in the back. Tail end is more scythe-shaped than normal Raichu - for reference: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/IoAlbinaNeko/skythe.jpg - picture I drew of an anthro Skythe once, with chibi-Raichu version on the side. It's basically an over-exaggeration of the last section of the jag on the tail. I left out the first jag here, but as long as that last scythelike sweep is there you can keep the first jag in there too. :3

Forte

User Image

Name: Forte

Pokemon: Ekans

Species: Snake

Type: Poison

Alignment: Light

Gender: Male

Nature: Rash

Ability: Intimidate

Current Moveset:
Wrap
Poison Sting
Bite
Glare

Theme Song: Du Hast - Rammstein

Color Scheme: Sunset

Bio: Forte is one big Ekans, and he's also not technically Io's pokemon. A long-time acquaintance of Skythe's, he's still technically wild, and really only travels with Io for Skythe's sake. And Io's discman.

Skythe and Forte grew up in the same area, and although they've known eachother for as long as they can remember, they have more of a rivalship than a friendship. They argue and strut their inflated egos quite frequently, so it's probably a good thing that Io's not put off by much.

Forte, though, has quite a bone to pick with humans... the hotheaded Ekans had a twin sister, who he's quite protective of. He'd been known for his strength in taking down older and larger pokemon who showed the slightest disrespect when they attempted to court her. Being shy, quiet, and adoring of her brother, she'd never once thought ill of his protection.

One day, however, a human trainer every bit as brash and hardheaded as Forte came through the area... and the female Ekans caught his eye. Forte had gone to fetch some berries for her, but he was too late upon returning - the trainer had already managed to catch her, and the leers the surly Seviper by his side had been casting failed to escape Forte's notice. Enraged, he attacked, but the trainer simply cast him aside with his own hands, not even deigning to send one of his pokemon against Forte. Laughing, the human placed a heavy boot on Forte's spine before kicking him into a nearby boulder, and before the Ekans lost consciousness he heard the trainer gloating over his new "breeding specimen."

Skythe found him beaten and bruised before long, and took him to safety, demanding to know what had happened the moment Forte reawakened. Eventually getting the gist of it from the enraged serpent's rantings, Skythe offered to cast aside their odds and help him find the crude trainer. Forte was surprised by the offer, but gladly took it up, setting out to travel with the Pikachu.

When Skythe ran into Io and demanded to travel with her, Forte slunk out to scold him and berate the human, nearly attacking her outright. Skythe stopped him, and tried to convince him that travelling with a trainer would be an easier way to complete his quest - not to mention that another trainer would be able to legitimately challenge the one Forte sought vengeance on. Forte was still doubtful, but upon witnessing Io's calm, caring demeanor (and finding out that she had a rather nice taste in music), changed his mind and begrudgingly agreed to go along. Nonetheless, he refuses to let Io actually capture him in a pokeball. Io respects that wish, but as she doesn't know the entire story, is a bit lost as to his motives.

Forte is as rash as his nature states, and although he leaps before he looks almost without fail, he is in no way stupid. At times he can become a most cunning and dangerously clever opponent, although he lets emotions get the better of him far too easily. Rage blinds him in battle, and if the opponent notices this, they can easily play him into their hands. Forte refuses to compromise his dignity as well, which can make him infuriatingly difficult to deal with.

He has a penchant for music, particularly very loud music. Io's even given in and bought him a few CDs, although she still can't figure out how he manages to work her discman.

Emeralis

"Well, what's wrong with a little destruction?"

Stage 1 - Trapinch

User Image

Name: Emeralis

Pokemon: Vibrava

Species: Vibration

Type: Ground/Dragon

Alignment: Light

Gender: Male

Nature: Quirky

Ability: Levitate

Current Moveset:
Crunch
Dragonbreath
Faint Attack
Sand Tomb

Theme Song: The Fallen - Franz Ferdinand

Color Scheme: Sunset

Bio: Emeralis is an odd, jovial, and witty personality who wound up in completely the wrong environment more or less by accident.

Namely, he wandered out of the desert out of sheer curiosity and whim, then decided to make a nice burrow in some playground sand that was about to be shipped. Finding himself in a rather alien environment afterwards, he just gave a mental shrug and amused himself by digging pits in dirt paths and chomping at passing trainers and pokemon he found irritating or amusing.

Io encountered him when she passed the residence of a simple man who was trying desperately and to no avail to keep Emeralis out of his garden. (The Trapinch had acquired quite a taste for eggplant.) Having no idea how to handle the odd pokemon, he saw that Io was a trainer and begged for her help. Io was somewhat annoyed until she saw Emeralis, who she immediately deemed cute.

She's still getting odd looks for that one.

After witnessing Emeralis's ability to flabbergast Skythe and Forte (both of whom were doubtful about any merit the Trapinch might bring) with his roundabout logic and having quite a good laugh, Io managed to entice him into letting her capture him with the promise of the chance to toy with their heads at any time and lots of eggplant. Emeralis happily came along, much to the poor gardener's relief.

Em likes Io for her good taste and wit, and finds Denumi a good conversationalist, which is odd considering how talkative (read: not) D is. Because of his foreign origins, he speaks with what is pretty much the Pokemon equivalent of a British accent, which some pokemon find confusing and others find attractive.

Io named him Emeralis from "emerald," since she had seen pictures of Trapinch's final form, Flygon, and seen it was a beautiful green color. However, not all Trapinch are of the same coloration... nonetheless, it's an elegant name of which the pokemon approves.

For all his tautological and tangential manners of thinking and speaking, Emeralis has quite the straightforward approach to battle. He prefers moves that are direct attacks, although he's far from without strategy in which attacks he chooses to make use of.
