Dark Fire Angel Small ears twitched as the kit trotted along the forest path; for some odd reason Banshee had felt the fores to be exceedingly alurring that day, and being unable to fight the urge to go... she'ddecided a nice stroll would do just fine.
Even despite her small, young body, her mind had matured deeply; in fact, she fetl that even though she'd not grown yet, unlike her sibblings, she was still 'grown' when it came to intelligence and mentality. Try telling Miko that however, for he'd rarely let the kit out of his sight since he'd noticed she wasn't growing; 'It's all my fault!' he'd claim, to which Shee would answer he probably had nothing to do with it.
The sight of the tall trees made her smile however, and where they cast deep shadows, the cheerful kit found herself hoping from darkened patch to darkened patch till something caught her attention. One could've said her 'death senses were tingling', Shee on the other hand would late claim that her death radar went quite literaly off scale, and of course, being the curious feli that she was... she ran towards the origin of the sensation till a strange figure came into sight.
What... or rather, who was that?Happy Tofu Kali was slowly making her way through the forest, taking time to glance around upon every step with wide, terrified eyes. Even though it was still fairly bright outside, the dense trees in this deeper part of the forest blocked out most of the sun's rays, leaving the forest path dim, shadowy and cool. Not only were there the shadows and other frightening sights, but there was also the constant noise of things... and who knew if they were to be feared or not? For someone born in the middle of the forest, alone and with nobody to assure her that everything was okay, that most things were safe... well, how was she to know any better?
Unfortuantely, Kali's strategy of constantly glancing side-to-side became so compulsive that she began to forget there were things to see ahead of her, too. This eventually caused her to nearly walk right into Banshee who, had she been looking, she probably would have avoided at all costs.
But, by the time she did notice, she was no more than two feet away, and she certainly wasn't willing to go back or off the path just to avoid what might be just another harmless, unmoving creature (as she had discovered the trees to be, beside their eerie swaying and creaking). Praying this to be the case, she continued forward, resumed her side-to-side glancing and snuck slowly around the offending pink kit.
Dark Fire Angel However, this was not to be; Banshee was far from an unmoving 'thing' such as the trees, and thus, as Kali began to sidestep her, she giggled, "Hey!" her voice was cheery, quite cheerful, even despite her predisposition of seeing death where ever she might go; amusingly enough, this kit here seemed to scream death and of course, Shee, being whom she was, found it oddly alluring, "Heeeey, what's wrong?" head tilted to one side upon catching Kali's expression.
It was one she'd seen few others sport; mainly Kalapi when they'd gone out at night one day... and even then, Kala had found comfort in her cousin's presence; this kit seemed to be afraid of everything in general quite strange for someone that smelled like death and felt like death.
Banshee was mature enough to not mention this however, for her thoughts were never voiced, "Are you lost?" blinking, she paced neared, stretching her neck to sniff at Kali, still finding her extremely alluring, for of course, what's more alluring to banshee than death personified? Happy Tofu Kali froze in her steps when Banshee called to her, eyes growing even wider if it was at all possible. Still, she seemed to find enough courage to at least reply, albeit with a whisper-quiet voice... after all, she dared not disturb the other many things lurking the forest. "...Wrong? I... don't know. How does one go about reasoning between what is wrong from what is normal?" Oddly enough, she seemed quite sincere in her confusion over this.
She seemed equally perplexed over the second question, although this distraction did appear to help quell her fears slightly. "...Lost? I've never been anywhere but here... and yet I don't know where I am." She tilted her head to the side slightly and looked straight at Banshee, "...would you say that's... "wrong"?"
Dark Fire Angel The kit tilted her head to one side lightly, then to the other before she smiled, purring slightly, "Well! Here is the forest, and over there," she pointed with her paw towards were Kali was heading, "Eventually, is the meadow, and then the feli house; I think I found what I was seeking..." a pause as she sniffed a bit, then nodded, knowing perfectly well the forest had seemed alluring mostly due to this kit; there was no doubt about it, "And I also think you should go to the feli house... the forest is scary, specially at night."
Something about the young guardian seemed to rub Shee the right way; that same something also seemed to indicate this kit had been alone for a while... perhaps she'd been born here? alone?
Life could be cruel at times... however, there was something Shee could do to ac least rectify this, "Well, it's not 'wrong' but.... it's also not right," she nodded sagely before she neared Kali, tilting her head slightly, allowing the kit to sniff her, "Do you have a name? Or parents, for that matter?" something seemed to tell the pink elemental this one did not have parents though... Happy Tofu She sighed, lowering her eyes a little in what appeared to be shame, "I'm sorry I've been unable to answer your questions, but... I don't seem to understand a lot of what you say. I don't know if I have parents or not, because I don't know what a parent is... nor what a name is, for that matter. All I can tell you is that I have only myself and no memories except of this place, despite not really knowing where this place is. I'd be happy to accompany you to this... Feli House... but are you sure I'd be welcome there? Will there be any others like yourself?"
It was becoming clear that among the many things Kali didn't know, her own identity was one of them. Not having passed any significant amount of water in her short travel, let alone having never seen a mirror, she didn't even realize she looked quite similar to the pink stranger.

Taking a moment to sit down and ponder, the pink kit raised a paw to tap her chin, "If you were to have parents you'd know without a doubt, and were you to have a name you'd also know; that means you have neither," a nod was offered at his point, as if these things were plainly obvious, "And seeing as how you have no memories or recollections, and seeing as how you only know this place but don't know where it is, it means you've just been born, or rather you've just come out of your bundle!"
Needless to say that Shee was quite proud of her deductions, obvious by the smile she sported as she glanced at Kali, "In a way, you've answered all my questions, so don't feel bad! However, that leaves us with several things to do.... first, you need a name, second, you need a friend; I'll be happy to supply you with both if you let me!" puffing up with pride, the pink kit stood up, motioning through the trees, "We should get out of here first... momma says the forest is not to be trusted, come?" she turned around and actually offered the death guardian her tail, almost as if expecting the other kit to grip it.
After all, she'd come to find out that the best way to transmit comfort... was through contact. This done, Banshee began to walk till the meadow came into view, and further away... the feli house too, came into view.

Kali did take the offered tail, even though this also meant she had to sacrifice moving at a snail's pace and glancing at every inch of forest as she passed it. Still, now that she had a knowledgeable and trustable guide these things were hardly necessary, so they were things she was more than willing to give up.
"I'd be honored if you would. Even though I don't know what these things are, the manner in which you speak of them causes me to believe they're worth having." She nodded, and even smiled the slightest bit. Her pace quickened upon the eventual end of the forest, coming and going of the meadow surroundings, and finally upon the sight of the Feli House.
The sight was appealing, but strange in contrast to her previous forest surroundings... and even in contrast to the meadow she had quickly. "Is that what you refer to as the Feli House? It's so large... and... there's light coming from the square holes? Isn't that odd?" Kali had come to assume that light came strictly from the sun; the concept of electrical lights was baffling.

Padding along, Banshee couldn't help but smile at the feel of the other kit being pulled along, "Ah," she said, "Those are lights, and lamps; they're pretty, and sparkly! And help you see at night when it's all dark," she nodded, "You'll like them; and there's also this wonderful thing called milk that they have there, and cookies! And you eat them. There's also flowers... but don't get too attatched to them, they have a tendency of dieing after a while."
The house grew bigger and bigger as they neared it, however, it must've been quite the welcoming sight, taking into account the dark forest they'd left behind; the grass beneath their feet was soft and humid, random insects chirping and hopping about around them as the padded along, the sun finally able to shine upon their pelts freely. All in all... quite unlike the depths of the looming forest, "Also, carefuly where you step; you don't wanna accidently step on a lil bug. That'd kill them, and they're pretty... and allready have short lives anyhow."
Never did she bother to explain what this 'die' meant, or how she knew they had short lives, for after all, even though the kit screamed death at her, and set her 'death radar' quite off scale... the lithe guardian seemed quite innocent, and Banshee, being a smart lil kit, did not wish to marr that innocence.
Life had a way of doing that on it's own anyhow, "We're here; big, isn't it?"

Kali lapsed into an awed silence upon entering the Feli House, as the many odd things that certainly were not to be found in the forest hit her all at once. She realized, suddenly, there were many, many things she would have to learn about... and though the sheer enormity of these things was threatening to overwhelm her, the mere promise of having a friend close by kept her at ease. She wasn't really sure why she was trusting Banshee so easily, but then again, as long as she found no reason not to... well, what was the harm?
She took Banshee's advice and kept an eye out for any small creatures below her feet, because surely the pink Feli knew what was best. Finally, after a few steps, she got the hang of watching where she was going while still being able to glance around, and by this time her eyes had adjusted to the odd lightning, too. "...big, yes... so, um... Ms. Pink... where should we go to now?"

A giggle bubbled up Banshee's chest as she turned to gaze at Kali, "My name is Banshee, not pink! You can call me Shee though, my friends do so," a pause, "Or they would if I had them... they're all gone," thought it was not noticeable, she was of course referring to those things she'd seen pass away to a better metaphorical life, "We never settled what your name should be..."
It was then, within the safety of the house, that the kit finally sat down, her paw tapping at her chin in wonder as she looked deep and lost in thought, "I remember a book Mina read once... it had someone named Kali; she reminds me of you, perhaps your name should be Kali too!" of course, never did the kit go far enough so as to mention why the fictional character reminded her of the kit before her, however, the fact her 'radar' was still off limits nearby the newborn kit was enough to settle it within Shee's mind, "Do you like Kali? A name is what others call you by! Others will know you as 'Kali' if you like it! Otherwise we can pick another."
A pause as she looked around, "Well, we can go anywhere we want! Except upstairs," a frown crossed her features as she leaned in, almost as if about to utter a well kept secret, "Baaaaad things happen upstairs... my momma says it's best to stay away," as soon as the elemental had pulled back, it clicked inside her mind, "You need parents too."

"Aah, I see! That makes a lot of sense to me! I assume it would become quite difficult to refer to different beings if they didn't each have a unique... 'name'." Nodding as she stored this away in her memory, Kali energetically continued, "Banshee... um, 'Shee... okay, I can call you that, if you like. As for 'Kali'; if you're fond of it, then so am I!"
Smiling brightly, she glanced around yet again before shrinking in on herself a bit, "Erm... I think it's best if you choose our next destination. You know much, much more than I do, after all. Maybe we'll even run into some 'parents' along the way~"

Leaning in, the pink kit offered her new friend a small nuzzle; after all, she'd come to notice that whenever her dad or mum did that, all the troubles seemed to fly away and the world became a much brighter place to be in, "It's okay!" came the chirp as she motioned to the kitchen, "Lets go look for parents in the kitchen; it's my favorite place in the house! Because that's where the cookies are."
After all, even though her mind had matured, there were still things the kit could not keep herself from doing; one was being cheerful. Banshee was known for being cheerful to a fault, usually up to a point others thought her obnoxious. The other were those few pleasures in life that adults usualy seemed to deny themeselves, such as cookies and milk.
LOTS of cookies and milk.
Once more offering the guardian her tail, Shee smiled, "You will learn that there are few things in life which will make the sun smile! One is cookies and milk," a nod as she entered the kitchen and set herself about to find such delicious foods, finally placing a bowl of milk and a big box of cookies between them both on the floor, "You take a cookie, dip it in milk and eat it!" and of course, we happily demonstrated."

Kali didn't notice that she had begun repeating all the foreign words she was learning in a soft, yet audible, mutter. "Kitchen... cookies... ...Okay! I do hope we find some parents soon; they sound very intriguing." Gripping Banshee's tail just a bit on the hard side, she followed, all the while focusing her attention on the pink Feli, her face one of utter fascination. "The sun smiles? Really??"
Upon reaching the kitchen, Kali immediately focused on this new challenge, 'cookies and milk'. "Milk..." She swiftly got the hang of 'dipping and eating', and before long had finished an entire pile of cookies. As she began to grow full, she slowed and turned to Banshee thoughtfully, "The sun wasn't smiling before we came here... I was wondering... perhaps we ought to share some of these cookies with it? Although... it sure looked high up. Perhaps one of the winged Felis would be willing to deliver them on our behalf?"

"Well," as Shee sat down and took to doing likewise; aka, dipping cookies into milk only to eat them shortly after, the kit paused to think, "Seeing the sun smile is really hard, you see; the light it shines makes it so that we can not SEE if he's smiling or not, however!" at this point, she stuffed a whole cookie into her mouth and swallowed it practically whole, purring at the taste that lingered, "That's what we have to use our imagination for!"
It soon enough struck Banshee that Kali would, of course, not know exactly what this 'imagination' was, and thus she smiled, "Imagination is what you do with your head; you can think and see things that aren't really there, like a story... seeing an image that isn't really there. I do it a lot."
A sage nodnod followed her statement as she reached up with a paw, sticking it into her maw in order to suck it; milk had been clinging all over her pelt there, and though it was promptly cleaned of milk, as she lowered it, it was still wet.
"Shee... hasn't your daddy told you that dipping your hand in milk is not the best way to drink it?" a larger feli padded into the house, reaching the two kits swiftly, her head lowering to nuzzle her niece before golden eyes turned towards Kalai, "Oh..." a pause, a frown lingering upon the phoenix feature's, not angry, but rather, confused, a brow arching, "Who are love, little one?" of course, being mated to a guardian, and having a guardian for a daughter, not to mention an adopted daughter too, for a guardian... Aithne was fast to notice the lithe kit that sat before Banshee was not exactly normal.
The pink kit was the first to talk, "That's Kali! I found her in the forest; she was alone, lost and she has no mommy or daddy, and that's sad.... I thought I'd bring her over and find her a mommy and daddy!"
Aithne's confusion soon enough vanished, her maw opening in a clear 'oh', however, no sound coming out; the forest... all alone. No parents. She couldn't be.... could she? .... Had they left a bundle behind? "Oh dear," laying down, separate from the kits, the older female tilted her head, "Banshee did do well indeed... you do need parents, they can take care of you," this said, she lowered her head and offered Kali a matching nuzzle, purring slightly.
The feel of the strange kit's pelt.... so reminded the seraph of Jamais, and yet... at the same time, it was vastly different.

Kali understood about imagination; true, she hadn't known the word for it before, but she'd certainly used it a lot in the forest. It had started when her head began to fill with images of the trees coming alive and grabbing her, but as soon as she realized she could control these images, she turned them into happier ones, such as of someone finding her and taking her someplace bright and safe.
She was about to share this with Shee, too, but Aithne's interruption plunged her into silence. The kit knew that she didn't really have any reason to be afraid, yet, but... the new creature was just so huge and... and it had a strange substance on its paws, too. Thankfully, she had her pink friend to do the talking for her, so she was able to put all of her own energy into keeping herself from creeping away and cowering behind Banshee.
Still utterly silent, Kali did cringe visibly at the nuzzle, although a quick glance to Banshee proved there was obviously nothing wrong with this gesture. It actually felt kind of nice, come to think of it.
Tilting her head a bit, clearly confused, the small Guardian timidly questioned, "...are you... a 'mommy'?"

A glance towards Banshee confirmed the seraph that this kit had not only been wandering alone and lost, but was clearly new to the world, and thus, she added a small purr to the mix as she pulled her head back, having noticed the small cringe, "Yes, I'm a mommy... I have five... not so baby-ish kits," she smiled at this point, her eyes closing, "And then I have 3 others that are still kits... one of which I'd like you to meet some day; her name is Jamais."
She allowed her head to tilts slightly, the 'fire' that licked her paws sparkling and soon enough attracting Shee's attention over to it, the young kit batting at her aunt's paws before she merrily skipped over and flopped down beside Kali.
She knew how intimidating adults could look, specially when you were new to the world... and idly figured contact would suffice to settled the small guardian into the peace of mind she'd been feeling moments before, "This is my aunty, her name's Aithne... she's nice, you can talk to to her," a pause, "I think she'd be a good mommy for you if you want to; but I also think it's you who should chose who your mommy is."

Coming to the conclusion that this stranger was in fact not scary, Kali hardly noticed herself pressing close against the seraph. She also decided that, like Banshee, she should probably do whatever this mommy suggested, and thus, she'd certainly have to meet Jamais one day.
"...I can pick my mommy? Really?" She looked up at Aithne, vaguely deciding this mommy was much too pretty for her, and besides, she already had... five... three... eight others and was probably very, very busy with them. "What mommy did you pick, 'Shee?" Because obviously, any mommy good enough for Banshee was good enough for her, too~

"Well..." there was a pause, a hesitation from the seraph as she seemed to ponder the young one's question; could she? Obviously not if she were to pick a bad choice out, or someone that obviously did not want to take care of kits, or simply had not the ability. Her mind instantly flew towards Oswald whom though nice deep down was simply not the best choice for a parental unit.
An honest answer was in order however and her golden eyes lowered down to the kit whom was surprisingly enough already leaning in towards her, "Well, you can chose between a few I'd say... there are some feli out there I would not consider good mothers," a smile did touch her maw as the mental image of Oswald wearing an apron hit her, a chuckle rumbling through her chest.
"Huuuuuhhhh..." Shee blinked as she raised her maw to grasp Kali's ear, tugging on it, "Well, I didn't get to pick mine; mine was there when I was born! She's a singer, she's out of the house right now, but I have my daddy! He's a good mommy too!" oh yes, if there was anyone around that help Miko in high regards... it was no doubt his kits. Well, bar one of them, and that one simply hated all males, so it was just as good, "My daddy's a ghost; and he makes good pancakes, and he sings horribly!"
No doubt, somewhere around the house, a poltergeist sneezed randomly and idly wonders what the hell that was.

This was becoming confusing. Mommies, daddies... she could pick, but 'Shee just randomly had one? Her utter confusion was clear, even before she spoke up, "I... don't understand. You just had a mommy? Are mommies usually just the first Feli you see, then, when you're born?" But... that would make Banshee her mother, wouldn't it?
Then again, according to the bright female, it was also important to consider how some Felis were good mommies while others were not. What happened to the poor kits who ended stuck with bad mommies, then? How would she know which was which?? She'd probably pick a bad one, come to think of it... since she really didn't understand anything about them...
It wasn't until she'd finished her train of thoughts and looked back at the two that she realized... she'd been mumbling her many questions aloud the whole time. Upon this realization, she could only frown.
