((This is set before Denahi had left the Firekin lands))
Another day slaving away in the intense heat the desert had unkindly offered to the dark pelted lion. Denahi groaned, coughing as he trudged back and forth between the den and oasis, gathering up supplies for his little area of his new home. However, in the desert, it made things ten times worse for the dark hued body.
Finally not being able to take it anymore, Denahi collasped on the hot ground, panting to try and keep cool. 'Stupid Desert, stupid heat!' he muttered inwardly, standing on shaky legs to begin moving again.

A small firekin cub worked her way across the desert brightly and suddenly froze. A shiver ran down her back and she let out a soft sigh. Once again the voices were annoying her. What was it with them? Did they have to be so... pesky?
What are you talking about? What else would you do without us?
"Oh Ah don' know, be sane?!" Khepri barked angrily, her voice slurred by her heavy accent that came from no where really. Even her parents and siblings were confused by her thick accent.
Shaking her head, Khepri looked around the shimmering sands of the Firekin lands tiredly. There was one bonus to her bright red fur, the sun didn't annoy her as much as some of the lions that were dark black. With a kick of sand, the little female trotted even further across the ground.
Then froze, once again. "Who're yo'?" She asked out to the large dark lion struggling in the sand. ninja

Light blue eyes settled on the form of the small cub. She was about the size of Naraka and Ra, except..well in a female form. "Denahi," He croaked out, blinking any sand and debris from his eyes. "I belong to Nuri and Chomo." He stated, just incase this cub was to go back home and speak of an intruder in their lands.
"...A new one of the blood? Who are your parents?" Denahi questioned, sitting down as he watched the small female cub.

"Hmmm... Mah name's Khepri, and Mah mum and pop are Mpeka and Kavuasi. Wha's one o' Nuri's slaves runnin' aroun' fo'?" She asked in her small yet slurred voice. She looked at his eyes for a long moment and then walked right up to him. "Yo' look a lil' tired Denahi. Wha' yo' walkin' roun' here fo' if yo' can't see all tha' well?" She asked.
Because he's as much of an idiot as you.
Khepri scrunched her face up slightly and then sat back on her hind legs for a moment. Brushing her paws together until all of the sand was off of them, she licked them so they were cool and wet and put them over his eyes. "Attack meh if yo' wan'. But yo' need some kinda shade." She looked around for a bit and then found a rock in the close distance and smiled.
"There. Ah can lead you to the shade, if yo' promise not to squish meh or try an' eat meh." She said, taking her paws off of him at last and sitting down, pointing with a white tipped paw to the rock. ninja

Her accent wasn't hard to understand. At least, not to Nahi; after all, his father had a similiar one. Just...stay calm and everything will be good right? "I'm fixing up my resting area so I too can sleep comfortably in this hell hole," he growled, snarling as Khepri's wet paws draped over his eyes. What the HELL was she doing?!
A hiss escaped his maw as a clawed paw reached the small form, slashing lightly at her to get away. "I don't need your pity or your help," He said hotly, tail flicking back and forth on the hot sand.

The small female started to move towards the rock and flicked her tail back at him. Red droplets dripped onto the ground as she walked, her shoulder and side were scarred where his claws had hit her shoulder, missed part of her skin and then connected with the mid part of her side again. "Ah wasn' meanin' to help yo' ifn' you didn' wan' it. But yo' need some rest. Gods forbid someone helps yo' see when you can', neh? Now follow Meh, or stay here an' act like a babeh. Yo're choice."
Her smart tongue was really going to get her in trouble someday. Oh wait. A laugh sprang from her muzzle as she walked towards the rock, making it so that she didn't limp. It hurt, oh did it hurt, he'd scarred her deep. Yet she knew that giving him the satisfaction of knowing that he'd gotten her that bad. She had her pride, even if she wasn't cruel like him or any other Firekin, she had pride that made her seem so. She thought with her brain, not with her brawn. ninja

Her little tongue was going to get her in serious trouble one day. However, today she would live, seeing as Denahi was way to tired to even lift another paw to her. Instead, he followed the young female to the shade. "Why do you want to help me?" He asked, light blue eyes gazing at the female.
He hated being helped by others because it gave him a sense of weakness. "You're a firekin, you're suppose to treat others with cruelty and hate. Even if you are a cub..." He sneered lightly, laying down in the shade she led him too. It felt good to get out of the sun.

"Why do yo' scratch cubs? Yo're a Firekin slave, yo're supposed to bow and scrape and not do anythin' outside wha' a Firekin tells yo' to. Yet here we are. Ahm bleedin' and yo're layin' in the shade near meh. Jus' cuz yo're supposed to be one way, don' mean yo' gotta be." She pulled her eyebrows together bemuzedly and yawned tiredly as she flopped to her side and licked at her bloody side. The dark red darkened her already red coat, making it darker and deeper than it ever had been. She was in a lot of pain, but she was also happy on the inside because now she wasn't so bland. Now she had markings like all the rest of her brothers and sisters.

"I don't scratch cubs. You are the first I've ever lifted a talon too." He shrugged. "If you want to look at it on the brightside, think of the scars as a sign of strength." Denahi bore three very distinctive scars on his body, but did that make him strong? He was an almost black lion living in the desert sun along with murderous lions who liked to kill for fun. Having to survive, Yeah I would say he was strong.
His gaze moved down to the small cub, realizing what he did. "s**t," He muttered, eyes widening as he moved over to help Khepri clean the wound he inflicted. He was dead, oh he was so dead!

"Strength? Feh, who needs strength when they have their mind? Tha's wha' Ah nevah got." She said as she cleaned her fur slowly. "Besides, these scars help meh in a way. All o' mah siblings have markin's that they can be poud o'. Ah don' have any. Now Ah do, don' Ah?" She smirked up at him with the smirk of a cub who knew more than she was supposed to about life.
But not this. "Wha' ARE you doin'?" She asked when he started to lick her fur. This was her fur, why did he feel the need to help clean it. ninja

"You don't need markings like...like these!" Denahi yelped, moving up and away from the small firekin cub, pacing before her. "You...you can't have markings like this. Not if you're a firekin and I am the one who gave them to you." The charcoal male slowly sank to his feet again. "Why don't I just kill myself now and get over it?" He groaned, forgetting for a moment that Khepri was right by him.
"You..You need to get cleaned up. It's deep and..it might...cause infection." Oh boy Denahi seemed scared right now. He already knew those slashes would leave scars, but if they got infected then things would turn bad to worse!

A sigh floated from her and she stood slowly, walking over to him and bumping her head against his large leg and rubbing it there slightly before walking back over and flopping down again. The simple movement had caused her wound to gush again and she huffed at it before lifting her head to look at him again. "Like Ah would tell them yo' did it to meh. Why would Ah do tha'? Ah may be a Firekin as yo' say, but I don' have to be a rat on top of it." She shook her small red and white head before she started to lick at her gashes again.
"An' yo' really think that killing yo'reself is gonna help yo're cause at all? Why don't you just... Ah don' know. Run away? Or ask them to leave? Yo' can do that can' you? Besides, Ah like these markings, it's like... a strpe. Ah like it." She smiled up at him with the sweetness of a kitten before cleaning herself again. ninja

"I've met most of the firekins in these lands, and most of htem want to try and be number one by turning someone over to King Kimeti." Denahi shrugged. "You're the first firekin I've ever met to not want to be a rat. You sure you are truley part of the blood?" The male chuckled, meaning the comment as a joke.
"If killing myself means no one will take my life for me then I'm for it." The charcoal slave grunted. "Running away isn't an option. Firekins don't like losing slaves thus they will probably come after me and my family." The male sighed again. "Asking to leave would cause death to me anyways most likely as well." Denahi blinked. "You're strange, you know that?" He chuckled, batting lightly at teh kitten.

"Who wan's to be a king when yo' can simply listen? If yo' listen then yo' learn more than yo' woulda if yo' had spent yo'r time fightin' an' squabbling ovah it. Ah might be a normal Firekin, but Ah'm not as cruel, Ah just have pride to make it look like Ah do. Why be cruel when you can make it look like yo' are and get away with it." She smiled, batting back at his paw softly so that she could put her little paw flat agianst the middle of his. She liked this slave, though she didn't really think of him as a slave. Slave, firekin, the only difference was where you were born and the title that you had.
"Ah won' tell them tha' yo' hurt meh, cuz yo' did, but not really. Yo' helped meh in a way, if that makes sense. Besides, Ah can just as easily say that it was something else. Who'll argue with meh?" She asked with a wink. She may have been young, but she knew a lot just from lying in the right places and listening to the right conversations. "An' yo' should go back to yo're family shouldn' yo'? If yo' got cubs... yo' wouldn' want them to get hurt, would yo'? Firekin don't follow other lions as far as the pridelands, yo' an' yo'r family'll be safe." ninja

"You're wise for your age," Denahi remarked, ears flicking forward. "Never in my life where I have lived, be it here, my old homelands or in the roguelands have I ever heard one as small as you speak words that most adults never are able to comprehend." He was amazed. "But sometimes, fighting those can bring a lot of joy when times are tough. Most lions are rageful creatures, and have no sense to keep things to bottled up. Fighting is one of the only way to actually let it all out." Denahi commented, nodding slightly.
"I...I thank you then." That was, if she kept her word. "However, those of the blood will listen to you. If you say a slave hurt you (especially one of my size) I'll be on the menu you tomorrow night." At that he gulped.
He blinked. "They...don't...? But...I would hate to leave Nuri here...and Chomo to stay with the cubs." This was new...Denahi thinking of others before himself?
