A note: GREEN is for posts by The skinhead, BLACK is for posts by Batgirl.
On Thursday a body of a young man was found in the river, it was dredged out by police officers who assumed it was another underworld shooting, and so nothing to be investigated too closely. However, the fact the young man's body had no arms or genitles showed it was in fact, not a shooting, and possibly not related to any of the organised crime gangs. When it was found the young man was Ethan Remola, a leading gay activist, the murder was linked to a recent spate of hate crimes against gay and lesbians in Bludhaven.

As usual, cassandra woke up around lunchtime, prayed nothing too serious had happened in the hours she had been asleep, and turned on the TV to the news channel while she made herself tea. It turned out that night the body of a young gay man, and prominant gay activist had been dragged out of the river. The gay community were already demanding the murderer be bought to justice. Cassandra sighed, and began to make herself breakfast, after she had eaten she planned to read the paper, then get on the phone to Oracle to see if she could drag up anything that hadn't made it to the press.

Cassandra put down the phone, disheartened. Oracle hadn't been able to tell her much more than the television had, apart from the fact that the murder seemed to be just the most recent in a spate of loosely similar hate crimes in the city and surrounding towns. Unfortunatly, the MO's were so different, and there up to seven different suspects for the eleven, now twelve, crimes the police had only just linked them together. The fact that Cassandra had missed them all, as she had been working on stopping a pickpocketing gang, just made her feel worse. She vowed that Batgirl would stop whoever, no matter how many of them there were, who was carrying out the crimes. Newely resolved she practised for an hour, read for another hour, than donned her costume. Batgirl left the apartment, via the roof, just as the first touches of dark touched the winter sky.

The building was now empty, the last of Skinhead's followers had gone home, or to the pub, or whatever it is a gang of very angry, very inspired thugs did on a Friday night in Bludhaven. Skinhead hoped that it would include a few more attacks, now the campaign was started he wanted it to build up, and it would, especially with new members that needed to prove themselves.

"Long story..." said Barbara. Kara changed the subject to a lighter matter. "I still hear about Batgirl roaming the streets. Have you found a way to keep up the masked crusading?" Barbara looked down at her useless legs and sighed. "No. I still dream of it... But no." She looked up and smiled. "Now I help out other crusaders in their quests. I do whatever I can. Which is a lot. It helps to have someone who can hack the city's surveillance cameras and street lights... Among other things." Kara nodded. She knew the importance of having someone to back you up when you were in a tight spot. And eyes all over the city would help you out of a tight spot. "Well who is this person claiming to be you, then?" Kara asked with a raised eyebrow. "Oh," Barbara waved at the air, "her name is Cassandra. She's actually quite good. Almost as good as I was." She said with a laugh and a wink. Which Kara took to mean she was joking or what humans called being "sarcastic". So... Kara thought, this new Batgirl is something of a wonder, then...?
Kara shook the thoughts out of her head to get right to the point and ask Oracle a question. "I came here to find who has been causing all these riots and hate crimes in the city. What can you tell me about it?"

Another morning, well, afternoon, and Cassandra again struggled out of bed. She'd been out later than usual, she hadn't got home until six o'clock, checking the early morning news before she had gone to bed, but there hadn't been anything especially worrying. She made tea and turned on the tv, there was some political stuff, not of much interest to her, then what she was looking for- there had been two attacks on gay men in Bludhaven, both in the early hours of the morning, and an African man had also been attacked. Two were in a serious condition, the last, who had been in full drag, was in a coma. Irratated, Cassandra turned of the tv, and began to get dressed. If there had been three attacks in one night then her informer had been right, it was a gang, and if they were recruiting things would only get worse. It also meant that she was going to have a lot of trouble handling it on her own.

Barbara stared at her computer screen and typed something out. She looked at the screen for a second and sighed. "I don't have much." She clicked with her mouse and read something on the screen. "It looks like gang violence, but I can't be sure."
"I see." said Kara. "When can you find out more?"
"Actually..." Said Barbara with a grin "Why don't you get in touch with Batgirl? I'm sure she'd have more to offer."
Kara thought about it for a second. She didn't want a partner, but she could team up with someone for a short while.
She wondered what this new Batgirl would be like. Hopefully someone semi-competent without the tendancy to add flair to things.
"Where can I find her?"

Cassandra left her flat in the middle of the afternoon, the sky was clouded over and it was raining so it was dark enough for her to leave in her costume. She swung south through the city, over rooftops, until she reached the hospital where the men who had been attacked were. Batman had taught her the usefullness of a surpise entrance, the doctor whose office she slipped into was so shocked when exposed herself, stepping out of the shadows behind the door it didn't take her long to find out where one of the men, Howard Wilkinson, was. Wilkinson had a private room, it was easy for her to get in, though she did feel bad that she had to wake Wilkinson up to question him. 'Don't be scared,' she said, 'I just need to ask you some questions.' Cassandra was in and out of the room in minutes, armed with the knowledge of exactly where and when Howard was attacked, as well as who had attacked him- a gang of three men, skinheads, just the comfirmation Cassandra needed. She knew it was likely there would be another attack tonight, but she was expecting it, and only needed to get to one of the gang members to find out who was the cause of everything.
