Village Proper
A large segment of the jungle has been (obviously and) recently clearcut, replaced with unoriginal-looking cookie-cutter vertical duplexes. The uniform blue-gray buildings are evenly spaced in a wheel-like pattern in the clearing, intersperced with small planted trees, obviously different in species from the majority of the local vegetation.
In total, the village appears to have residences available for around 100 residents or so individuals - each in one of the dupliex's single-occupant efficiencies, the only diffrences between them being whether someone is on the ground floor or the top.
A few buildings break the mold of the standard cookie-cutter duplex: namely the ones on the periphery of the wheel - some near the edge of the lake appear to be built into the lake - with a glass extention - half submerged and half on land. There are a few extraordinarily tall ones - without a second duplex on top, and a few that seem to be built on raised platforms with ladders that lead up - more like a tree-house.
At the center of the wheel is a massive building (by comparison) that houses a cafeteria, medical clinic, entertainment rooms, workout room, supply room, etc.
Finally, a large clear lake borders the South-Eastern side of the village, its waters an inviting and cool respite from the humidity and heat.
A dirt path (just barely wide enough for a jeep) to the beach leads to the West (about a mile away), and a path to the labs (about a 2.5 to 3 mile walk) leads to the North.
Jungles surround the village where the lake doesn't come up to meet it - with now a decent sized 'border' between the edge of the village and the jungle - that's been clearcut with grass planted. The ground is fairly flat here, and would be a good surface to jog, play spontaneous sports, etc.
The Duplexes
The interiors of each efficiency is as uniform as their exteriors: grey carpeting, furnished much like a standard Holiday Inn with a double-sized bed, nightstand, closet, wardrobe, clean bathroom, bookshelves, and windows for accents. Each unit also includes a mini-fridge. There is also a number pad with a speaker in each of the rooms. Dialing 0 will result in a direct line to someone at the main laboratory. Otherwise, it can be used to reach any of the other rooms by punching in the room number followed by the # symbol.
The Town Hall
In the middle of the village is a much larger building, although with the same colored siding and roofing as each of the duplexes, the smell of stock cafeteria food drifting from it. The building, the "town hall", serves a combination of functions: mainly a cafeteria, laundromat, and a place where cleaning supplies can be borrowed from, but also has a very small clinic that can treat minor injuries and (and give out various sorts of basic medicines, toiletries, and other basic necessities) that wouldn't require a visit to the main laboratory facilities. One primay woman, Delia, mans the town hall - serves cafeteria food and rents out supplies from the central building. She is polite, but doesn't tend to speak very much. She seems generally unruffled by any of the strange goings-on of the island.
ENTERTAINMENT ROOM
One of the larger side rooms of the Town Hall has been converted into an entertainment room. There is a LARGE television at one end, equipped with a DVD player and an XBox with four controllers.
There is a virtual library of video games and movies - both old and the newest releases of almost every genre imaginable (from B-movies to blockbuster hits, Sci-fi and fantasy to chick flicks and action, Disney movies (most especially Robin Hood and the other animal-centric movies), Anime, television series (including the full run of Lost, Gilligan's Island, and Survivor..)) ((essentially, if there's a movie you want to be there, it's there)) - in shelving units to either side of the television. There are plush couches facing the TV.
Additionally, in small shelves on the other side of the room is racks of magazines containing current periodicles, major newspapers, and... adult entertainment magazines (both playboys and playgirls). There are a good few dozen novels spanning various genres, and a full set of the Encyclopedia Brittanica. A small sign hangs nearby saying that people are free to borrow the newspapers and magazines, but please to be considerate and return them - in good condition- in a timely manner.
At least one book on just about every type of animal imaginable is also in the room. From broad groups, like the Audobon book of birds, to the very specific, such as a whole book dedicated to the American Bison. There is at least one book for every species that people have been injected with on the Island, as well as many, many more.
Included in the nature books are books of various types of wildlife, birds, insects and marine life in the area.
A couple books on carpentry and construction
The Supply Room
A second, larger, shipment is delivered to the massive supply room, also adjacent to the cafeteria and attached to the Town Hall.
Building materials! Lumber, fine net mesh wiring, hammer, nails, saws, etc etc etc. There are no heavy power tools, however.
The gardening supplies that Anjali requested are also located here.
The supply room also houses cleaning supplies (from windex to vaccuum cleaners and everything in between).
Recreation Room/Arcade
Also built into the town hall, this is a room designed for indoor games that would normally bother people trying to watch a movie or read a book in the entertainment room.
There is a foosball table, a pool table, and many game machines.
Workout Room
And another new room in the town hall, this room has several pieces of workout equipment set up around the room.
There are about half a dozen treadmills, stair machines, sedentary bicycles, about 15 different weight machines that train different areas of the body (some more general than others - and admittedly some that might no longer be usable by some islanders).
There are also free weights in a rack in the middle of the room, and a stereo system in the corner with a rack of various types of upbeat music.

Room Assignments
Everyone who comes to the Island as a subject is assigned one of the duplexes for their stay. The odd numbers are downstairs and the even numbers are upstairs. Therefore, for example, duplex 4 is upstairs from duplex 3. The housing chart is displayed IC'ly in the town hall.
