On the Isle de Gambino, Gambino is standing next to his ruined mansion. Click on him and he wants to ask for small donation.
Looks like there is some lag in the transfer but hey its a way to see if people who think "I give my gold and I'll get the SUPER RARE OMGWTF ITEM EVAR for this!!!" they'll complain if the get NOTHING xd

Between my two gaian accounts, I gave 1500 gold to the poor guy.
Hell, I could make twice that selling my G pins.
I was getting tired of looking at that stupid hole where his mansion used to be.

I gave the poor guy 500 gold. Guess I've got a weak spot for big guys with delusions of power. That, and the chance that the Gaian 'karma' system will kick back a rare event sometime soon.

Gambino gets NOTHING. The G-Pin stands for Gamera009, the greatest noob-basher to ever fill the ranks of the AYGGS.
That and I have no gold left over after furnishing my house.

With the dawn, local Gaian time, the foundation of Johnny's new building has appeared where the hole of the old one once was. He's still sitting and panhandling off the visitors to his isle.
The red bar has not yet reached the half way mark. Best guess is that the contributions are up over 4 million gold. One thread I've seen claimed one person with 10 mule accounts gave a million already.

It's a matter of economics... Gambino's begging is used to reduce the amount of Gold in circulation. Technically, Gaia Gold is almost free; however, in economic terms, most of that money remains with the Gaian populace, without gaining any sort of long-term value.
Thus, activities like this are needed to create some kind of special effect in the market.
Plus, I am pretty sure most donors will get "something", which they will be able to sell to the unsuspecting masses. stare

BlackRavenWyrd I gave 9k earlier. ... what? sweatdrop BlackRavenWyrd, PIMP'D 2 DA MAX YO!!1! (UNF UNF PAK CHOOIE). I gave him 100 gold, and his automatically generated response seemed pretty thankful for it. If not, he can keep his broken mansion and stuff it. Ahem.

In the news, yesterday - Edward Castronova and the rest of his beardy friends present a paper on Gaia's virtual economy on Terranova. File under "never will happen".
